@mattbatson The point of the drill was the transition to the handgun. The handgun target simulates someone encroaching on your position. Unless your behind some hard cover, you would want to get up and mobile to evade anymore attackers.
Or maybe we just looked like we could use the exercise.... Not really sure.
Anything can be a code word that means start shooting so the entry team may close the gap and make entry. In this case a local department in the area that was attending the training used that so we trained to that standard. They also used the word Abort to cease firing so they sound nothing alike. As for Eye Pro use it if you want it's your eyes your protecting. G19, 2+shooters at the same time is to maximize rounds on target/s. 4 targets at different ranges out to 450 and 10 pistol rounds.
The double "Stand-by" is the count down the team leader is giving to initiate entry. The training to do a simultaneous shot with multiple shooters is do fire on the second "B" of stand by, before the team enters.
There was no one down range. It was just for training purposes to control when to fire.
Tactical Response's training is real world and current. Can't recommend them enough to everyone.
68spc- Hookay -makes since now. I have used countdown before to initiate. Found it works well to use 54321 countdown. Stand by and Stand down commands sounded too similar and confusing over comms. Used two shooters to break glass and neutralize tgt. Alpha firing @ 2, Bravo firing @1
@sbd45acp in IDPA or other gun compatitions the stand by comand just means u cant move untill the buzzer goes off to draw.It would go "shooter understand the course of fire?" "load & make ready" "shooter ready?"(shooter gets set with hands at side unless otherwise stated, & will get a penalty if he moves to draw b4 the buzzer) "stand by" "BUZZER( DRAW & ENGAGE TARGETS FOLLOWING THE COURSE OF FIRE)
The instructor was just demonstrating the drill before we were running it. All students wear eye protection when we are a hot range. This was an exception to the rule.

I'm wondering why he stood up when transitioning to the handgun? I'm assuming people are shooting at him...why not stay prone?

@synergy303
I'm not trying to be a dick but do you have a pair of eyepro next to your nightstand gun?
In the Corps whe never use eyepro when we go to the KD range.
