As fun as #2 was, it really was the beginning of the end. The comedy got more prevalent (and sillier), the horror atmosphere was slowly pulled away, and it just became yet another Super Happy Anime Cliche Funtime JRPG.

@GuitarsAndSwords From what I remember after the first few cinematics you'll have little, if any extreme violence to worry about. Also, you won't have to worry about it at all in Shadow Hearts 2.

Great, highly underrated game. Original and intuitive battle system, epic story, a setting that sets it apart from most JRPGs, good character development on the main character's part. It's a shame it had to be released during the FF10 hype.

Not really, similar way you have to time your attacks, 2D backgrounds with 3D characters, like in Resident Evil, and very similar battle scheme too. Not much of a difference in my opinion, so I don't see why my other comments deserve a thumbs down.

I just got this game today! I ordered it with my own money from my summer job (debit card)! I'm up the part where you get the plane when you meet Margarete and I save on the world map and stopped playing. I love the judgement ring! i love margaret too! she saved my but in that kappa boss battle, Yuri was dead Alice went insane and got killed, and Margaret was insane too but she pulled through and beat the boss (red) kappa and won! even after Alice healed it!

The graphic were just barely par to any Playstation 1 game, not PS2. There are three big attractive about this game (IMO): it's a more mature-oriented story, and it's a very dark and well-developed one. The second it's the setting: it's too different of many ordinary RPGs you can't compare, just too apart from a Final Fantasy title to you compare. And the last great attractive is the battle system itself (fusion, judgment ring, Sanity Points). In later games, you can use make combos attacks too.

I remember when I first saw this game on the shelf of Hollywood Video and after figuring out how to use the battle system it was instantly capture in my heart. I returned it when the lease was through thinking I would buy it. It took me 4 years to finally find this game on ebay with the 2 other sequels. This game alone can easily reach $80+ being complete (case, manual, game). Though to make the ultimate collection one needs Koudelka for the playstation. Good times!

I found this game at GameStop a few days ago... It was only 30 bucks, and I just about shat my pants since I found it... But I got 5 hours in, and got to an event battle that wouldn't load... There are different styles.

Final Fantasy usually relies on 'fantasy' worlds, with a setting on a world of it's own, fantastic creatures and go on. It's about people with staffs and swords, fighting a bishonen villain who wants to conquer the world, destroy it or maybe both.

Shadow Hearts is placed on or own world, and the mystic, arcana and magik setting is the strongest, with monsters created from the malice which dwells on the own human heart. It's about people fighting unholy gods.

It wasn't intended to be a WWI Game. In case you haven't noticed, There is.. Magic, Blood, Sorcerers, Evil, Monsters and Huge Towers full of summon. I wouldn't say anyone found that in A Battlefield
