this is why you do all your shopping online... chances are, you'll find your stuff not only cheaper, but in better condition... oh, and, of course, no sale taxes, which makes up for shipping costs.
I remember buying a used game from there, then it said "Disc unreadable".Then I went back to the store and said it didn't work, so they gave me another used one. Which also didn't work. PEOPLE ONLY SELL THEIR USED GAMES TO GAMESTOP BECAUSE THEY DON'T WORK!!! Otherwise they would sell it to a friend for $20 instead of the $5 they get at gamestop.
@ Garyhawks; So you had the game case in your hands, walked outside, drove home and then looked at the game. The moment I had it in my hands I would have checked the disk; as I always do.
This would be one of the only rants of Foamy's that I would disagree with. I think it's a smart idea to leave the actual games behind the counter.Though I do wish I got a better case for my Klonoa game instead of one of those generic cases with the name of the game printed in some dull font in the top center label.
I go to Gamestop. And everyone is always yelling at me "Why don't you buy used games?" And I always say. "Why would I pay $56.99 (so tax would be around $60) when I can buy the game new and wrapped up for $59.99? (with tax it's always $64)" I can see where Foamy is coming from here lol
OK, so i go to Lame stop and and buy a game i wanted the clerk didn't let me look at the disc, I get home put it in the console and I found out why he didn't let me look at the disc, It was a different game!
@garyhawks You could have looked at your disk after you purchased the game. At my local game shop "not gamestop" i always check all the disks before walking out the door.
This reminds me of the time I was in GameStop and I found a particular game I wanted for the PS2(I think it was called Warlords). I couldn't get it because it cost $40! Then I went to this store called V Stock and I saw the exact same I was looking for. Only this time, the game cost $17.
last time i went to a store like that i got a game and sombody had already played half way throw it and it caust me 31 freaking dollars. not only was it used and already played halh way throw but the game itself was a few years old and it was damaged. i was so freaking mad. (btw it was pokemon sapphire)
@keatsuki All the used game places always overcharge for used pokemon titles. who would pay 35.99 for a used copy of a GBA pokemon game? They are not rare game carts.
A few years ago in North Carolina, I bought some fighting robot game (I dont remember the title) for thirty bucks. They said it was new but boy were they fucking bullshiting me. I paid thirty bucks for it, went to my uncles place and tried to play it. But it didnt work because there was a long deep motherfucking scratch from the center of the end. Lucky I got a refund, but that happened a few times. Never going there to those money grubbin sons of bitches ever again.
My store used to sell these collectable beer mugs that had been sitting on the shelf long before I started working there and on that rare day when a customer actually wanted to buy the must-have piece of junk, I looked at the amount of dust covering said item and gave it to her for half off. Full price? I don't think so.
I went to EB and bought bioshock second hand and cause I'm a clever girl (who may have been wearing a particular top at the time) I grabbed the case with the cheapest price (which they base on the discs condition from that case) and took up to the counter.
Now I asked if I could see the conditon of the 3 pre-owned copies of the game
I then pointed at the best one (no scratches SCORE) and cause the sad geeky lad was distracted he put the $20 copy in the $12 case and charged me the cheaper price
I got multiple discounts on my monitor based on the facts that it was display AND the last one. $250 instead of $300. Discounts like that are based on the store, the product and the arsehole who served ya
It's funny, because GameStop opened all the PC copies of Deus Ex and removed the OnLive codes inside, then sold the games as new merchandise. I haven't been to GameStop since, and I never will go back.
the Local Gamestops aroudn here (there are 3 in a 2 mile strip for some reason) not only put the empty boxes on the shelves, but allow the employees to "check out" opened discs and take them home for the evening and play them. Nothing like paying $60 for a "new" game only to get it home and find the disc is used and scratched all the hell. Then you try to return it, and they wont take it back because the seal is broken...

Actually, Foamy is wrong about most theft being from employees.
I work in a supermarket (in this economy you need any work you can find) we ALWAYS get people trying to steal from us. We have this older guy that comes in every saturday, takes two copies of the same newspaper, takes the coupons out of one and puts them in the other and puts the one he stole from back.
@TheCopper1234 In fact, just a week or so ago we had this woman in the store who was raising all sorts of hell about the stuff in her cart, she was doing this so she couold get her stuff for free. Well our new store manager wouldn't allow it so the customer started putting him down. To which the new store manager fired back at her. So actually Foamy is wrong for once about most theft happening from employees.
@TheCopper1234 yes...but thats just that ONE FUCKIN STORE YOU FUCKIN IDOIT. HE IS SAYING overall workers steal more. even though it wasent like that at your store says nothing about others
XD foamy talking to himself is the best ...but its a good thing they keep video games behind the counter....if they didnt id probably have about 20,000 dollars worth of stolen property in my posession....yep
Kinda like how I went to trade in a copy of MW3 that I had for 2 weeks and the pizza faced store clerk tells me, "I can give you $3 for that." I wanted to punch him in the face.
By definition a ButtFucking is: Where a GameStop (or EBGames) employee will give you an instore credit at a fraction of the retail price of a game and sell it like it's new for $60+.
I agree except the fact that the used/new game store for retro and somewhat new games jacks up the price 20 bucks and I always get them saying but it's retro or but it's vintage, I on the other hand want my frickin game at a cheaper price especially since there's like 20,000 in the area of this store that aren't for sale and would cost alot less on ebay or craigslist or even amazon.
@AltF4ForHacks It costs more than 15 cents to make a can of soda. Plus, you're also paying for the actual soda inside of the can. If you're actually just buying empty tin cans then you are one dumb mother fucker.
@SkylerRayY2K Your right on the soda there, its more than that, but there are other items that are jacked WAY too high. Truth: it costs the production company 10 cents to make a bottle of pain reliever that costs you 10-15 bucks at the retailer.
I once went to a store that did that with their DVDs, it was a second-hand store, but the problem was about half the cases up there were for movies they didn't freaking have. I literally picked out 4 different movies and not one of them was actually under the counter!!!!
not but an hour ago i went to a lamestop and got Mass effect. now i looked up online and every other store had it priced at 20$. i payed 27$ at Lamestop. not only that but i didn't even get it in its original casing. like foamy said it had been opened and fucked with. i get it home open it up to find a few slight scratches. i was pissed but i thought "if it works then so what". i put in my xbox and it said "disc unreadable"..... FUCK YOU GAMESTOP! i mean LAMESTOP!
@Ravinar I bought golden axe:blade runner, a game I've never seen before, used and when I got home to play it I learned that there was a bubble in the disc, making it unreadable, then I had to drive back to the store, tell them about the defect AND show it since someone was too damn lazy to check it properly in the first place and get a new copy, thank god i had noticed it within the first week XP
I hate when I go to buy a game and it's used and has no new copy's anymore so they want to sell you that game for the same price as a new one if they had anymore left it was 20$ new and 13$ used just because they had no more new they jack up the used price to 20$ it's bullshit!
But they have games that others don't have sometimes. I'm not supporting lamestop in any way, I'm just sayin'. I found a copy of Xenosaga episode III at my local lamestop recently for a price tag of $20! That particular PS2 game is rare to find in stores! (Non-original case, no box art, and no manual though) I would have had to pay shipping on that 20 online! I only had to pay tax! Gotta give 'em credit where it's due as well folks. But honestly, I would rather buy games from them, not trade in.
@nyuuchan356 "(Non-original case, no box art, and no manual though)" But that's what online box art pictures are for, and if you have an old black double discer PS2 case, that's not a problem, either. And who reads the manual, anyway? On a game that's third in a series @ that!
My solution to this: buy new games only. I bought a used God of War 3 last year at my local Gamestop for fairly cheap, come to find out it had scratches on it, froze everytime I paused it and then the clerk didn't check it. I went to another Gamestop and bought the new version, it works perfectly. And Amazon.com is always there if I want new games and cheaper prices than the ones in the store, thats how I bought Madden 12 last week.
ya even when i went to blockbuster when they r about to close out they say 50% off but then tried to sell me the video game half price and i am thinkin WTH
GameStop decided that they wanted to sell me a data-burned copy. They didn't ask me if I wanted to see the disc, they just highlighted the survey shit and told me if it was defective I could return it. Had I not been in a rush, I would have checked the game disc myself out in my car. But no, I had to go home and play the game to find out that I couldn't get in the turret, and when I got the disk out I discovered the problem. Are they that desperate for money that they sell you bad games?
Yeah, I think it's stupid that game stores try to cheat their customers by trying to keep the used copies of games high. I remember when I got the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Game Cube back in 2008 at a local GameStop. The game itself had been out for two years, and at the GameStop store I got the game from was priced at $39.99 for a used copy. Today, it's priced at $29.99 on GameStop's website. IT'S STUPID! D:<
I work at retail and if something has been dropped or dented, I freaking put it at half-price! Can't do that for canned food anymore though....head corporate got all pissy
Example of this crap: At Gamestop, Call of Duty: Black Ops is still 55 bucks used, even though it sucks, it's been out for almost a year, and even if you like it, it most likely has a billion scratches and finger marks all over it that makes it stop working every hour or so, and for 5 buck more, you could get a brand new copy, OR EVEN BETTER! you could wait a whopping month and a half for the sequal to come out, and buy it for the exact same price you'd buy the old game
Ok. Toys R Us has a good policy for video games. They have a gigantic wall of tickets that have UPC codes on them. You bring it up to the counter and they give you the game IN SHRINK WRAP. Better than Gamestop's policy.
HAHAHAHAHA anthor strike at "LAMESTOP" now finnish them foamy DO US ALL THE FAVOR fuck lamestop they had the fucking nerve to cheat me out of one of those game ad on thing when you reserve for a game i reserve fabble III i was susposed to get a sword (in the game sword) but they cheated me out of it so i went to a differnet used game store instead to buy the damn game if you want to go to a used game store thats fine make sure to go to a game x craxy game plus or eb games BUT NOT LAMESTOP
ya know, if i see the product beeing opened, or am looking at you putting it back in I REFUSE to buy it unless you give me that little 15% discount. ya moron! if you want to pass it off as "new" don't replace it into the stupid case while i'm watching you stupid! Also, if i see an item that has been damaged and i bring it to the counter, i have brought it to you for you to take off display. I did not try to steal it, i don not wish to buy it dumbass! seriously!? who buys attempted stolen crap!?!
I have a courtesy for others when debating on buying a game, do this as you look at the case, after reading the back and so on, and not at the counter. I got caught behind some guy as he debated about getting some shitty NFL ((I don't like sports games)) along with five other games. The second clerk was nice enough to get off his ass, after several minutes of just looking around, to open the other register so I can buy my two games instead of waiting behind the douche.
'look, "screamo"' XD he has a good point, and when you buy stuff they dont even make sure you know your getting the thing you went there for they just ring you out when they should see if u have any questions.
Gamestop walmart two places that have video games prices jacked up so high that even after a year you comeback and go wtf what the hell happened to the 50 dollar games you know when a new game comes out and after a certain number of months it drops to fifty then so on slowly decline I only see that shit handheld games and second gen games that's fucking bs
foamy looks so adorable.. no homo.. is a girl even considered a virgen if butt fucked.. serious but perverted question please answer.. ya know wot nebr mind... if yu hav the audacity to answer go ahead but dont give my smack
technically the term "virgin" only applies if the female in question still possesses the hymen (too early to explain so google that if you don't know). if she still has that but has anal sex however...well "technically" she is still a virgin if she didn't have sex normally.
in other words...to answer your question... yes..and no
@Firan25 Actually, no. There is really no way to tell if a female is a virgin. The hymen can be broken by a lot of things. Mine broke when I was ten while I was riding my bike. Does that make me not a virgin anymore?
@YumiYama179 Hmm...I didn't consider outside interference to play a factor. I didn't mean to offend, I was just explaining the way I was taught in school.
when there was an ebgames there was the coolest fucking people there got free shit discounts just awesome people well the guy there told me that if a new game isnt in its wrapper its been used by an employ. fucking gamestop took over wanted to give me a new game without a wrapper on it and i was like hell no you played this shit i want the used price or a different one with a wrapper on it he tried argueing it but then ended up fucking admiting it dumb ass gamestop blowme
for instance...PORTAL 2 0:08 ..........WATCH IT OVER UNTILL U GET IT!!! but i dont blame them, valve makes some pretty B.A games! so idk...but NOT FOR A YEAR!!!! that too high, for too LONG!!! wtf it might happen....show some F***IN PITY!!!!!
I just commented on foamy's 'game trade-ins' bitching about how the Sonic colors was 26.99 used and 29.99 new. Me and foamy have the same thought patterns. O.o
game stop is like that and there a bitch to sell games to cause they will sell and buy a horrendously scratched up disk but if theres a little scratch on the picture of it they say they can not buy it
I like pokemon.so what do i do?I buy pokemon hand held console games.....they're kinda fun and their replay value is sky high, anyhow, every time i want to play a gameboy advanced pokemon game i buy it from gamestop. So i go and look for a used one to buy and restart,AND guess, just guess what i find? They sell USED gameboy advanced games from like 2005,for more than they sell a BRAND NEW 2011 POKEMON BLACK AND WHITE VERSION copy......buncha asses.....but sadly its the only gaming store in the area.
@TOA1928 Get a reloadable walmart money card and go online to ebay. Its what I do. Not only can you pretty much find anything on ebay, theres a chance that you can get thing for WAY less than their actual worth. Case and Point. I got 2 Rare Brand New Copies of Parasite Eve Factory Sealed Valued at $149.95 each for only $27. I openned one to play and am going to hold onto the other one and sell it for what its really worth the next time it's value goes up. I've doing that with ALOT of games
@echocompany666 that is a very intelligent person i would say though theft is wrong he was a smart one not to grab it run or grab it and try to hide it
Foamy has a good point with all this. He gas spoken the main reasons I hate shopping at GameStop. It's too crowded, the employees have no clue what to do, and I can never find the game I'm looking for. Fuck those who work at the GameStop at Merle Hay Mall!!!!!!
u know the two gamestops that i live near by are awesome becaouse their almost never a lot of people their expect when a new game release is coming but other then that theirs only about 2-5 people their at a time so i can waist my time their and no one will complain and every thing that foaming pointed out they really don't do it their too expect on times when they know they are going to be busy
i went to a worten (a video game store) and i asked one of the clerks to guard a Left 4 Dead 2 game under his cash register so I could go in like 10 minutes to my house to get the money to buy it, when I returned there was this FUCKING FUCK 10 year old bitching to his whore mom to buy him a game so the fucking clerk guess what he did...HE SOLD THE FUCKIN GAME I WAS GOING TO BUY TO THAT BACKAWARD ASS KID, I asked him for another copy and he said that was the last one...wish punching him was legal
I know what you mean about open things being charged full price; I was in a Lego store once, and there was this set that cost, like $120, but some jerk had ripped open the box, and taken60% of the content, but the morons who ran the store had it still on the shelf and charging full price for a kit that had a ruined box and more than half the pieces missing! What the fuck?!
the corporations that those stores are paying rent to are extremely greedy too. If you could take "extremely greedy" and triple it, that is about the greediness that all rented stores are subject to. It's why strip malls are becoming ghost malls, which is ok by me. Screw brick & mortar.
Money will bring the madness and destruction to mankind. It moves things along for most people but without us, it is just colored paper with no value! Remember that fact!
GameStop needs to put the merchandise on the floor so I don't have to wait for the employee behind the counter to put the disc into the box...which is where the disc was supposed to be the whole time
@b74k3 if you don't like foamy (or at least jimathers' ideas that "foamy" talks about in the videos) then you're fucking stupid. Foamy speaks truth about everything. EVERYTHING.
That sounds like Game Stop and EB Games. No offence, but the prices of new games are very high. But you don't know if it's used or not! If it's used, the price should lower, and the employees must check the records of the damn game!
Reading the comments I must be one of the few who doesn't get this issue... I traded in an opened, but never played, game for $15. It cost $30 new. And when I went to buy a used Shadow of the Colossus I got a discount b/c tho in new condition, it was still opened. It was like $12 total. Not all gamestops are bad :P
I hate when you buy a used game and they put those stupid clear stickers on the side to close it. What, it was already open and its in my hands now why put more sticky residue on it?
this is why you do all your shopping online... chances are, you'll find your stuff not only cheaper, but in better condition... oh, and, of course, no sale taxes, which makes up for shipping costs.

the solution is to wait for the internet to take control of the stores
when we all buy our stuff online there wont be any used stuff
also the prices will go down for lack of taxes

I once went to a store that did that with their DVDs, it was a second-hand store, but the problem was about half the cases up there were for movies they didn't freaking have. I literally picked out 4 different movies and not one of them was actually under the counter!!!!
dickcheney6 4 months ago
not but an hour ago i went to a lamestop and got Mass effect. now i looked up online and every other store had it priced at 20$. i payed 27$ at Lamestop. not only that but i didn't even get it in its original casing. like foamy said it had been opened and fucked with. i get it home open it up to find a few slight scratches. i was pissed but i thought "if it works then so what". i put in my xbox and it said "disc unreadable"..... FUCK YOU GAMESTOP! i mean LAMESTOP!
Ravinar 4 months ago 35
@Ravinar I bought golden axe:blade runner, a game I've never seen before, used and when I got home to play it I learned that there was a bubble in the disc, making it unreadable, then I had to drive back to the store, tell them about the defect AND show it since someone was too damn lazy to check it properly in the first place and get a new copy, thank god i had noticed it within the first week XP
Galax1809 1 month ago
I hate when I go to buy a game and it's used and has no new copy's anymore so they want to sell you that game for the same price as a new one if they had anymore left it was 20$ new and 13$ used just because they had no more new they jack up the used price to 20$ it's bullshit!
residentwievle4 4 months ago
this is why i dun buy games ne more at game stop >_>
Pretty soon they will go to hell in a handbasket like blockbuster did :P
SakuraAvalonBleac25 4 months ago
But they have games that others don't have sometimes. I'm not supporting lamestop in any way, I'm just sayin'. I found a copy of Xenosaga episode III at my local lamestop recently for a price tag of $20! That particular PS2 game is rare to find in stores! (Non-original case, no box art, and no manual though) I would have had to pay shipping on that 20 online! I only had to pay tax! Gotta give 'em credit where it's due as well folks. But honestly, I would rather buy games from them, not trade in.
nyuuchan356 4 months ago

DragonsRule06 4 months ago
Yeah, I think it's stupid that game stores try to cheat their customers by trying to keep the used copies of games high. I remember when I got the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Game Cube back in 2008 at a local GameStop. The game itself had been out for two years, and at the GameStop store I got the game from was priced at $39.99 for a used copy. Today, it's priced at $29.99 on GameStop's website. IT'S STUPID! D:<

sonicledgend 5 months ago

Also, if i see an item that has been damaged and i bring it to the counter, i have brought it to you for you to take off display. I did not try to steal it, i don not wish to buy it dumbass! seriously!? who buys attempted stolen crap!?!
fairybone0102 6 months ago
I have a courtesy for others when debating on buying a game, do this as you look at the case, after reading the back and so on, and not at the counter. I got caught behind some guy as he debated about getting some shitty NFL ((I don't like sports games)) along with five other games. The second clerk was nice enough to get off his ass, after several minutes of just looking around, to open the other register so I can buy my two games instead of waiting behind the douche.

TheTotino01 7 months ago
@TheTotino01 Er...I don't know...
technically the term "virgin" only applies if the female in question still possesses the hymen (too early to explain so google that if you don't know). if she still has that but has anal sex however...well "technically" she is still a virgin if she didn't have sex normally.
in other words...to answer your question... yes..and no
Firan25 6 months ago
@Firan25 Actually, no. There is really no way to tell if a female is a virgin. The hymen can be broken by a lot of things. Mine broke when I was ten while I was riding my bike. Does that make me not a virgin anymore?

What the fuck?!

the corporations that those stores are paying rent to are extremely greedy too. If you could take "extremely greedy" and triple it, that is about the greediness that all rented stores are subject to. It's why strip malls are becoming ghost malls, which is ok by me. Screw brick & mortar.
