  • my name is nico...

ive killed people smuggle people, sold people.....

    YOU MY SLAVE NOW BITCH!!!!

  • Oh! It looks awesome.

  • ibad ass drawing style and french citties are always cool

  • and yet the oscar ballots have COME...and need to GO by monday..and NO SCREENERS. it's tragique that this terrific looking project gets a nomination, but we haven't seen a screener or even an opportunity to see a screening in L.A. just sad is all

  • the animation is so original. very different from the japanese and americans. i like it.

  • The art style looks incredible and the animation looks amazing!

This is very unique film and I really would like to watch this movie. Hopefully, this movie wins the Oscar for Best Animated Film.

  • 01:32 DEATH FROM ABOVE!!!! XD

  • What odd animation. Looks interesting, for sure, and there's something appealing about it.

  • As for those who said it "bad"......stick with dwarf movie.....with 11 inch monkey ......lol......

  • Absolutely Brilliant Animation. We hope you win an Oscar.

  • holland Y U NO let it in theaters?

  • As for those who say it is ''bad'', stick to Disney or to the ''super mutant, extra powerful, monster-like penguin with psychic powers and tentacles sticking out of his arse who loves licking the toes of seven breasted blue skinned girls'' anime genre, and don’t bother.

  • Excellent film with an ''artistic'' approach.

  • Annie Award nominations brought me here :D

  • Its should been been "monkey"......instead cat...... too bad for monkey........next time around.....lol.....

  • When I saw the nominations I was like how the hell did they mistranslate "monster" as "cat?!" I didn't realize there were two french animated feature films this year called "A _____ in Paris."

  • Aw man, why can't we have this type of awesome animation in North America?? This looks intense!

  • that's a tough cat

  • Fantastic. Fantastique. I would love to see this and the other animations and short films nominated for an Oscar. I get so tired of the blockbusters, and think there is much more art, heart, and craft here.

  • Interesting art style. Nice to see a 2-D film in the running. Never heard of it til today. Wonder if it's on DVD...

  • what the helllllll the animation looks so bad

  • @ch0wac1 I know a TERRIBLE animation when I see one. Quite frankly... this isn't fitted for the category, but that's your opinion of course. :)

  • @ch0wac1 You probably think the art looks bad. The animation is impeccable.

  • @ch0wac1 How do you define ''bad'' ?

  • Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris, Cats, Paris,

  • Our love of Paris and Cats brought us to Burbank to see the film during its Qualifying Run. It is a bountiful film evoking a French Noir Animation feel the score is American Jazz and transports the viewer to a simpler era were animation flowed from an artist's veins.

  • This looks great.

  • Second french film with The Artist in Oscar race. :)

  • @Thunderworks FINALLY, right? :P I honestly don't watch the Oscars as much as BAFTAs, but because they're so popular, I practically have no choice but to at least be aware of them and the nominees.

And my biggest complaint about them is their lack of non-American films. One little category for foreign films? That's...really pompous and pathetic.

  • Nice to see a different style, a non 3D animated film instead of the usual formulated 3Drivel.

  • Comment removed

  • This shit gets nominated and CArs 2 doesn't? What a terrible nomination process the Oscars must have. Of course, the fact that Harry Potter isn't nominated for Best Picture shows that once again, the Oscars are a huge failure. Ditto the fact that so many actresses from The Help were nominated for awards, and Emma Stone is not among them.

  • @kipolem53 They could have dropped Puss in Boots and had Cars 2. I wouldn't call this film stuff off a shovel. It may not be 3D but given the stuff coming out of Holywood $tudios I'd sooner see something with story and heart. The style may be unusal but it looks fun to me. I'll look out for it on DVD or tv.

  • @kipolem53 hahahaha

  • @kipolem53 'Cars 2'? I was actually thinking something more like 'Arthur Christmas' or 'Adventures of Tintin'. I was taking "bathroom breaks" (sure, let's call them that) during 'Cars 2'. My kids asked me afterwards, "Why'd you keep leaving us?"

But I will say that I was more surprised to see 'Puss in Boots' up there. These are at least unique animated films, which the Oscars are not good at acknowledging - if it's not Pixar, it's some other CG animated film. It gets a little redundant.

  • @kipolem53 I see you trolling....

  • nominated for an oscar :)

  • Cats are GAY. Bleh! Dogs rulez ;)

  • @mix3r11 If cats are gay, how they reproduce? :P

  • how come tintin din't get a nomination? :(

  • yeay CARS2 didnt get nominated. I guess the Oscars might not be fixed.

  • @teppeiando Cars 2 not, but "Puss in Boots"? its the same shit!!! -.-

  • @YummYumYumY It's just a form of drawing. Compare it to Anime if you like. Or what Disney did before Pixar. It's not bullshit, it's just a form of drawing...

  • @YummYumYumY So you could animate better than this and get an Oscar nomination as well? Please be my guest.

  • I've never understood the tendency to change film titles in translation. The French title clearly translates as "A Cat's Life" so why call it "A Cat in Paris" in translation? Do they think a non-French audience won't understand it's set in France without that in the title?

  • Academy Award nominations brought me here. :D

  • @lishkoburger12 Hehe, same here. I wanted to see "HEY, what on earth replaced 'Adventures of Tintin'?!" Thankfully it's two things the Oscars so RARELY acknowledge: a non-American film and something that's not Pixar. So all's well. :P

  • @GoldenFlither15 Yeah it's good to see. Reminds me of how awesome Secret of Kells was just a few years back... :D

  • @lishkoburger12 Ah yes, that's right. I remember that. :)

I'm actually surprised this wasn't up for a BAFTA. Mind you I'm much happier with their nominees for that animation category than I am for that of the Oscars, but this looks very good, and the fact that the BAFTAs do a much better job of recognizing films from around the world...I would think that they'd acknowledge this.

Ah well. As long as they left room for 'Tintin', I'm happy. ;)

  • @lishkoburger12 Me too!

  • Just recently nominated for the 84th Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature!

  • this is getting an oscar!

  • Cute!

  • "THIS RLY SUCKS" "BORING MOVIE" etc

Yeah, have any of the people leaving comments like this actually seen the movie from finish to end?

    No?

Then your comment doesn't count. Shut it. >.>

1, 462 people in the UK alone liked this on FaceBook, perhaps you should tell them your comments, eh? :)

  • @ShivuTheWolf Wow, you really have a problem, don't you?

  • @ShivuTheWolf Who wrote the "This Really Sucks" comment? That is the person my reply was aimed at.

  • @dbaker3751 PATOWiNNERS I think was the guys name :o

    And that's ok :3

  • this rly sucks

  • shut it dog,, it is not ur movie...lol

  • boring movie(so bad)

  • @khaled31996 WE THE BESTTTTTTT

  • @Divers1990: I agree with you, lately the animated movies are crap, nothing original, they just change the looks of the characters and the story just a bit, and Voilà !

The ONLY good, even very good animated movie of the last years was Rango, the characters are complex, more "real" than any other I've seen lately (unlike the typical dreamworks/pixar always politically correct lame characters, the heroes aren't clichés).

I highly recommend it to anyone bored by all the animated crap lately.

  • Yeah, we in the overseas will have to watch it online.... If only US would screen it, then I could start hoping Brazil would, too.

  • Haha my cats name is also Nico.

  • funny my neighbor's cat is a Nicolette ( a hot tempered siamese cat ) .You wouldn't mess with that gal.

  • Puss in Boots now has some award show competition for the animated category!

I haven't seen a single new animated film this year, what with Cars 2 being obvious garbage, but I will want to see The Adventures of Tintin, maybe Puss in Boots, and maybe this.

I do hope that this year is a good year for theatrical animated movies, even with a dud on Pixar's side. the whole world will have to pitch in. This film looks just like classic French cartoon snootyness Aw haw haw! Snooty laughter!

  • @Divers1990 yeah, I'm pulling for this movie too.. forget Puss in Boots :p... *dodges rocks*.. though I hear Kung Fu Panda 2 is the best movie so Far.. though I like Rango and the Arthur Christmas movie..

  • i will watch this movie online even if it kills me

  • This movie looks great. Shame it most likely won't be released overseas in cinemas :(

  • a very good concept movie...
