  • whats the dimensions ? website says its 7in deep.... i know that aint right

  • Is the vulture as big as the kelty raven?

  • maxpedition has 6 x 6 pouches for the molle on the hip straps this would be perfect for your camera and other small go to items

  • The reason i gave it a thumbs up was for the bible! nice man

  • Lose the Maglight. Seriously. They weigh like three pounds at least. And the cotton. Cotton kills. Good way to die, wearing wet cotton.

Maybe a lighter sleeping bag? The one you have looks massive!

Consider the instant pasta sides at the super market to mix it up over the MRE things.

To fill the outer compartment up more effectively, load it first. The inner items are more compressible.

Might want to add a 20' hank of paracord too, for emergency purposes.

  • Hey Nebula, based on the ignorance of your useless commentary I feel it is safe to assume you are an authority on Toilet Paper as you are obviously totally full of Sh**.

  • I also use this pack:

    1) You failed to mention hydration compartment.

    2) You didn't mention molle attachment points...I added 2 maxpedition pouches for galley/propane and latrine/hygene storage.

    3) I keep bulky items lashed to exterior. Leaves more room for additional clothing, food, etc.

    4) I lash tent to the side molle's of pack. I set-up my tent first and don't want to empty pack on ground to access it.

    5) I lash my bag to the bottom and pad on top.

    6) Poncho & 1st aid at nearest spot

  • @nebula25x and toilet paper

  • if you dont carry a water bladder you could take the poncho liner out of the sack you have it in and stuff it in the water bladder compartment.

  • King James always... nice vid, I've been thinking about buying this pack now I have an idea of how big it is and how much it can hold thanks.

  • I wish Maxpedition would come up with a much taller, but thinner pack, because I hate stuffing a bag like you've done, where it feels like a ton of weight on one small area of your mid-back. With taller packs, the weight is distributed among a much longer area and therefore "feels" like its much lighter. I am just about to buy another pack, and am looking everywhere for one like I've described, has to be at least 1000d Condura, and foilage, or at least, flat / dark earth.

  • @XsweetxsacraficeX I agree, something like The North Face Terra 45 pack. I personally want a better suspension system than what the Maxpedition has when the load starts going north of 30 lbs.

  • Where can I get ever safe meals?

  • @bishop85gt go to MREinfo.com That site has EVERYTHING you need to know about MREs and the forums have a review section to you can get reviews on various MRE items.

  • LOL "my bible, .... king james"

  • i attach my tent to the bottom of the pack using the molle straps and a few fireman knots on the bottom saves alot of space in the bag i have the same bag it's amazing

  • 8:18 that fish is huge in the tank...lol...nice pack..

  • You should get a fenix light more lumens for a cheap price and much more compact light

  • I'm guessing anyone country enough to have a chest freezer in his dining room knows how to do an overnight camp. These prepubescent city kids commenting snide remarks here probably can't walk across the city dog park without $500 worth of North Face crap on their sorry butts.

  • You could molle on the knife or camera

  • Holy Cow! I bet your pack for one night weights twenty pounds! Have you ever been on a three or four night trip? Well in all fairness this is not a video about setting up a pack for a backpacking trip, it is for a camping trip.

TWO MORE PACKS! Are they for you or the others going with you?

Anyhow, I enjoyed the video and I appreciate your posting it... but you have WAAAYY to much weight in that pack for any type of back country or survivalist trip.

  • where do you get your eversafe meals?

  • I'd put a better sleeping bag on your wish list. something smaller, lighter, and with a lower temp rating. Then just leave the poncho liner at home.

  • So let me see...he's going on a cool weather overnight camping trip, brings a tent and hammock, but no first aid, no fire starting equipment, no extra clothing other than what he will be wearing when he leaves (plus 1 extra set of cotton socks), no extra food or materials to hunt, trap, fish or kill small game. I hope he is camping in his back yard.

  • I don't understand why you didn't put your sleeping pad beneath the tent in the main compartment. Your tent will be one of the first things you will want to pull out...and you made it your last. If it were me, I'd put the pad underneath the bag (for ready access to rest) and bury the sleeping bag in the very bottom (you will need it last). Also Mag lite can be put in Molle webbing on side, easy access, no opening pack!

  • wooo camping! so few people understand the awesomeness of camping anymore! ^^

  • Im glad you included the most important piece of gear your Bible. Great video!

  • I love Maxpedition stuff, too bad they are so expensive.

  • @uncleben03 You get what you pay for. China wins manufacturing wars because despite what else they say, so called "patriots" buy price before quality. That's why Wal Mart put the mom and pops (your neighbors!) out of business.

  • @uncleben03 same here i own this backpack. But sometimes you have to spend money on certain things.

  • Just a suggestion, put your gps and other electronical equipment in the middle pouch, I do this and find it keeps them more protected from getting damaged with a buffer on either side of them

  • I enjoyed the video but I noticed that as you packed the main compartment you packed it out rather than up, you would have been better off to have laid the pack down and packed it from the base to the top first before packing it outwards, this is why you still had room for a camera in the main compartment but the outermost pocket was tight and hardly able to take anything

  • @Redshift21 Hey great tip.

  • @EXT3RMIN8R thank you

  • Good Video. THX for sharing. I too love the bulky Berettas but I EDC a 96fs. Huge sidearm but extremely reliable in my experience.

  • great video, would love some MREs, the24hour RatPacks here are rubbish.

Personally when I go camping with the folks i just take my infantry pack, got all the room i need and more for comfort items.

  • Good video, thanks for sharing.

  • Great Video! This Pack is really good!!

  • 9mm will do fine against hogs - with a proper load 9mm are one of the best calibers for self defense.

These packs are nice, but definitely not made to travel much ground in . I see a lot of people turning these in to bug outs, but you should consider something with a hip belt, a good one. You'll find after just a few miles your shoulders WILL get fatigued. Also, roll the poncho, and tarp up in the sleeping bag and strap the pad to the top in that buckle. That will free up a lot of room.

  • +1 for the belt advice. Also, wear some thicker socks or double up the cotton. Blisters are no fun.

  • @Lebrown32 This pack has a hip belt. He just didn't show it.

  • Hope you brought along your first aid kit! A+

  • Thanks for the review Kevin.

  • Hey where do you get those MRE's? I thought those were illegal to sell or something.

  • I would add, pepto bismol tabs, beef jerky, sling shot (rocks provide unlimited ammo), flint steel. Good vid, have fun!

  • Trace Minerals Research sells electrolyte single packs. They're easily found online along with other electrolyte single packs if anybody's interested in adding them to your survival/camping gear.

  • Now I dont hunt hogs there arent any in my area but how well would a 9mm do agenist them just courious, not doubting you kevin I just see most people carrying revolvers in the bush.

  • i wouldn't try it if i were you lol.

  • I guess it would depend on what type of bullet you're firing into it and how many you fire into it. A headshot will put one down (some people use .22 cal headshot to kill a hog before they butcher it.)

  • When you carry your Beretta, do you have a way to keep it from interfering with your waistband on the pack? My handgun always seems to be in the way there....I'm going to try the 511 vest next time with the hidden handgun compartment near the chest. Just curious...

  • great presentation, the only thing i would add is a magnesium fire starter and some lint from the dryer

  • oh and a mini first aid kit. compound bandage for fractures and snake bites.

  • I have that Canon D10 and love it. Good little camera!!

  • @survivalistboards check out the Husky 2D for a bright light, it is extremely bright, brighter than most cheap 20$ lights, the run time isnt great I take it for walks at night and I may get a few hours out of it before it starts to dim but on an overnight trip where the head lamp will be your main it is a great main source for strong light.

  • Yea that Beretta 92, really important for an overnighter. Oh and don't forget that pair of extra COTTON socks, :D

  • @Bassman018 The Beretta, nestled right next to the Bible. Which is next to the toilet paper.

  • MRE, man i had one of those since after Hurricane Ivan hit us. They tasted like plastic.

  • @TheStrawberryLolicon you eat the food on the inside of the package not the plastic around it.

    hehehehehe

  • They aren't even real foods =/

  • @TheStrawberryLolicon they are not great tasting but in an emergency you will thank the lord for them. PS interesting name.

  • Good info Brother thanks for getting us to think. When I was in the army we used the alice pack. Which I strill use.

  • im sure you know but you dont have to roll up your sleeping bag when your using the stuff sack

  • That's a nice looking fish!

  • i think this is the best comment that could be made. but at least he has his berretta encase it attacks

  • new subscriber here - enjoy your vids

those food packs sure look convenient - i spend a lot of prep-time figuring out meals, and measuring stuff out into zip-loc baggies, but that's part of the fun for me - plus i'm a super tight-wad, and those packs are a lot spendier

  • I keep my bible in my hip pocket .... if I lose my pack I will at least have the most important "survival" equipment :)

This is good stuff. You're videos just keep getting better.

  • Is it just tme or does any one else like sleeping on the floor without a sleeping bag?

  • Good video, Kevin. I know there are a lot of smaller, brighter, more efficient, lighter flashlights than a Maglite. But, darnit, I gotta admit I still like my Maglites. I've got several and I'll probably never get rid of them. On the subject of MRE's, have you heard about "Menu C" brand. They're just like the military MRE, but legal for civilians. They were created for the civilian contractors like Blackwater. There's a place called MRE Depot online that has a good supply for about $80 per case.

  • U need 2 put the heaviest things like ur tent and MREs in the main section at the top by your neck. It's much much easier to carry the weight that way. By having the tent and MREs at the bottom and outer pockets, u r making leverage against you by gravity. Try it, you'll see.

  • Great video brother!

  • paper maps dont need batteries. 5* nice pack

  • And a GPS that ONLY tells position without map features tend to be able to last longer on their internal batteries.

  • Wanna see Kev Auto-Tuned....

    Check it out

  • Now you are just making me miserable haha... We still have a couple feet of snow on the ground here! I can't wait to get out camping and grilling.

  • Me to I live in Canada and we still have snow and I want to go out camping really bad.

  • I just cant see the Mag light.. ya got a gun for protection.. so I dont see the point in waisting space. aslo if ya get a smart phone you have gps, vid, still cam, and you dont need extra batterys if you have a solar charger. just my two cents. good vid however ..

  • Thanks Kevin. I love these type of vids you do. Keep us posted on the trip have fun. Keep up the great vids. Thanks

  • There is no way you can make sense outa carrying that flashlight.

  • right on kev great vid

  • How about clothing and first aid kit ?

  • @Wolf46 come on wolf? as long as you have a Gun and a bible, you don't need a first aid kit. XD

  • do you bring any type of first aid kit?

  • question on that maglite i heard you say you have the led, hoe far does it throw the light? i have heard they dont throw the light as far as the older ones

  • i really like their gear, but not their price considering where they are made the price should b ea lot lower.

    nice review

  • bible?

  • sounds like fun. 5/5

  • do the eversafe meals tast better than MREs?

  • @MadBadVoodo Whats with the five squares in your comment box? I don't get it.....

  • If you have an older OP-SYS you see five squares but if you have a newer one you see Five Bold Stars... Oh and if you are useing your phone 2 view videos you will not see the stars...

  • So where do you put the bottle of WHISKEY ? Gotta have that for around the fire. Well the son will have that. LOL

  • have a fun trip!

  • great video like always 5/5

  • I thought you would perfer wool socks? When otr trucking I had just 2 pair of socks and washed them when I took a shower. Take them to the trck wedge them in the passenger side window and the sun would dry them by lunch.
