the thing is that pirates are beating content creator when it comes to accessibility. Getting a lot of the content that costs money is cumbersome and much slower than downloading it. So They need to be better at putting their stuff out there for digital download at a relatively cheap prize.

That's a good question. Me personally, I would want my movie available to ALL the public, free or otherwise. You see, if someone regular like me or you make a movie, most likely we want some sort of message to get out to the public. So are we doing it for arts sake or for profits sake? In Bill Mahers case, the movie he made was still in the top 15 grossing documentaries of ALL time. So not sure what Bills problem is here, he still made a handsome multimillion dollar profit.
So basically it's okay for us to pirate if other suckers go and pay for it?
And no, movies that are done for the sake of art, they never were about sending an idea free to the world. Artists themselves need money too for the budget of the movie mostly and for themselves.

@jonnybravo8 Lets be honest. People don't tend to buy documentaries on DVD at all. A relative bought me Fahrenheit 9/11on DVD for Christmas years ago and I thought they were an idiot for doing so. You watch a documentary once (maybe twice if you missed something) and then you move on. It never occurred to me that someone that made a documentary would be more concerned with profit than the proliferation of their message.

I pirated Religulous when it came out. That movie is not worth pay $16 dollars for. I think ( not always, but a lot of the time) if the movie or album is that great, people will pay for it regardless.

I never really considered this theft to be honest. Theft is when you remove an object from somebody's possession and then you possess it, and internet piracy is just duplicating something and possessing the duplication without removing it from somebody. Plus, you don't actually lose anything from it. You just don't earn anything from it.
Nobody gave that much of a shit when back in the 80's people made VHS & cassette recording off the TV, radio & from rented movies, now all of a sudden it's theft! Besides the quality, there's not to much of a difference between then & now. I pirated Religulous when it came out. That movie is not worth pay $16 dollars for. I think ( not always, but a lot of the time) if the movie or album is that great, people will pay for it regardless.
On the other side, yes, its illegal, so if a law passes cracking down on piracy, so be it, it was fun while it lasted. But sopa is not working.

The main problem I have is that it states that anyone "enabling" is also guilty. But without defining what constitutes "enabling" it is open to opinion. Is an internet provider not "enabling", because without the survice there wouldn't be piracy? Is a search engine not "enabling" because they link them to the links?
