  • Man, I got here from Minecraft o__O

  • yep.. cool but too slow.

  • SO SLOW! I can work 10 times faster!

    (Joking mate! Good job!)

  • It's a pity, no one uses CDs anymore

  • somewhere, a dvd pirate is having an orgasm

  • IT'S ROB'S LONG LOST COUSIN!

  • The DVD pirates would have beat a path to your door, only its all too late now torrent has been invented.

  • i could sit on my couch all day, changing my cds in my xbox and never have to play a game because i would be so entertained

  • think about all that time making that vs the time changing cds by hand

  • the 1st cd changer!

  • Amish DJ

  • Yes, click the link in the description.

  • Nice work, looks like you had some fun doing it, too. Were you able to tie the loader into CD burning software, so you could burn a stack of CDs unattended? That would be slick.

  • @AltRage, That would be awesome, just burning some PSX games without the need of being in the same room.

  • why?

  • This looks like some shit Arnold would pull in Hey Arnold.

Besides it being obsolete/waste of cash/whatever, it's pretty damn cool!

  • so now we're too lazy to put the cd in?? -_- and i still use CD's (@JJSOKEWL)

  • OMG, HP writer x4? EPIC

  • perfect mothers day gift

  • Reminds me of ROB for the NES

  • ultimate piracy tool

  • lol is every thing you own wooden? do you have a wooden computer case?

  • witness the future of piracy of movies and games!

  • This is the intro to Back to the Future 4.

  • why u do that it already exist in al machines lol waste of time

  • -È un po' lento però...

-It is a bit slow though...

  • now add some slots so you always put the cd's in the same spot

  • True, a CD changing robot is not very effective, we have maga CD changers that do the job much better.

But, an old printer, a bit of wood, and some time, and there is a CD changing robot.

total cost is very little, but what is gained is an understanding, and that is worth far more then the sum of parts by far.

    Learning, that is the product.

  • can i have this? im looking to build a laser cutter. ☺

  • This is what you need if you're too lazy to change CD's

  • Finally!

Something that knows how to change a cd correctly.

  • "THIS IS MY SONG! =D"

    *robot changes cd*

    "WTF man!"

  • i could have done that in half the time

  • I've heard of these.. they are called.. a Jukebox

  • dude this is sick! i want one!

  • It looks like the dvd player is made of wood.

    Great job by the way

  • We who know about electronics. SALUTE YOU!

  • yeah, but can it rewind dvds?

  • @runningbeardotjpg REWIND DVDs??? They aren't VHSs.... you don't rewind them... that's why they're digital.

  • @BryceFritzel It's a joke idiot.

  • @ADRENELINEDUDE I know.. so was mine.. idiot.

  • I had the impression of a faster machine when I read the report on this a few years ago.

  • great buddy,....

  • Could come in handy, if you're using rewritable DVDs as backup media... XD

  • @konkod123 It takes days to burn data archives by hand. With an autoloader it takes an hour to set up and then it runs on it's own. Commercial auto-loaders are usually more than a grand. This saved him many hours of work and a grand.

  • @konkod123 I'm a sys admin for a small company. Once a year we archive old data to DVDs and now blu-ray for permanent storage offsite as required by law. This data usually amounts to several hundred gigs and a dvd can hold 4gb... A Blu-ray disk 25gb. This thing, coupled with some programming, would make the whole process much easier and nearly painless. A bit more trouble could set you up with a file catalog so you would know what each disk had on it.

  • made pirating much easyer

  • @aydinburton93 hadnt thought of it ... its useful only in this case... ONLY

  • In your website you said it was pointless to use at work this is when you start making a convertor belt system to stack your cds for you

  • In your website you said it was pointless to use at work this is when you start making a convertor belt system to stack you cds for you

  • but will it blend?

  • @MrRedtwentyfour

    that is the question?

  • It's like an old jukebox LOL

  • You guys realize that this is how inventing starts. First, the machine might be slow, but with optimization and such, it can speed up to amazing rates.

  • thing how much time it would take, if the CD u want, is at the bottom :D

  • it's all about spending more time building a machine to do a task that would be faster to do manually.

  • build a machine that can do what you do in just x10 the amount of time normally!!

  • amaricans are getting lazier and lazier as the technolegy rises

  • are you promoting diabetes>?

  • man you are incredibly talented

  • I want that!

  • NICE JOB

  • this have a arduino?

  • No need. Just using the printer port as I/O

  • nao just have dl a game and mass pirate it...

  • is there any way to make it faster?

  • If only there was a homework finishing robot

  • you have waaaay too much time on your hands XD But that is still awesome.

  • @Aspire198 he has as much time as we all do but he just chooses to use it building things and doing cool things. Yes this is useless but he didn't do it for that he just did it for the fun of it and to see if he could.

  • @cristofolon Haha, he builds, we watch videos!

  • if it's faster, it worth (i think)

  • and so ends the human race :(

  • I think with your hand is much faster haha

  • that could actually come in handy if you wanted to burn a LOT of cds and didnt want to sit by your computer and switch them over

  • is there anything u cant make out of wood?

  • @Axtitios a real boy? lolz

  • looks illegal : )

  • or you could also use your hand, and do the task in 10% of the time!

    therefore, raising productivity....and WOW!

now you've got a job as a cd changer...

  • @TheAcidGuy "or you could also use your hand, and do the task in 10% of the time!" not if you didn't want to sit at a freakin computer for 8 hours as you burn 100 cds, therefore raising productivity.

  • Make a freakin Tommy Gun out of Wood and put it up

  • i would love to be like u and be able to build almost anything i want!

  • This is the future :) Hats off to you, sir. This is great!

  • was it worth it?

  • Not really, but that is beside the point.

  • @Matthiaswandel LOL theres one problem with this robot, the fact noone used CD's anymore lol try making a robot that docks your ipod and chooses music for you :D

  • You may notice it was posted in 2007. And the video was actually shot in 2002 (hence the crappy video quality)

  • @JJSOKEWL well, the best music waves you can ever hear is from a CD, separate layers of sound while mp3 or wav music files are all compressed, CD's have better sound than mp3 that's why the DJ at your local disco has cds enjoy

  • @ChiIdKiIIer "well, the best music waves you can ever hear is from a CD, separate layers of sound while mp3 or wav music files are all compressed" [sic]

CD's are digital, just like mp3's are, just so happens that CD's are 320kbps, but mp3/wav's vary depending on who/where you get them from, there some who would argue that FLAC files are the best digital music format, but they are huge files. The only true analogue music format now is vinyl, but thats dying...

  • would this work with a ps3?

  • i need to get me one of these for my xbox haha

  • Lol This reminds me about how lazy I am :P

  • @alyl603 Things like this is never a waste of time or money. knowledge gained from this little project would have been worth it.

  • @intheshitter u can learn the same crap by watching a video about it and not making it ur self

  • CD Robot! Insert 'Back Door Sluts 9' DVD!

Handjob Robot! Initiate lube and wack protocal on me!

  • Genius

  • thumbs up for copy of cds!!!

  • wooden robot..?? awesome

  • it is not nessessarily about building ot becuase you need a robot thta can change a CD.

its about learning the mechanics of how much a thing would work and implementing it.

he probably learned alot more building it then the benefits he got from a CD changing robot

  • @Unbannable yeah the thing probably makes him breakfast now

  • You sir, have a hobby. And I salute you!

  • The new lazy people tools!

  • some people just have too much time on their hands XD cool all the same

  • i gotta get me one of those!! hurray for the future

  • I think this is cool. I love how the piece expands itself to fit into the hole so the CD doesnt fall off. :D super awesome!

  • well you could use motion sensor to activate it plus this is useful to pirates who copy tens of thousands of dvds a week and make millions lol

  • Not usefull? think about this: your hanging in your chair playing some kind of game.. Then you get bored about it and want to play something else, but your pc is all the way down under your bureau desk..

Then you just push on the button of your mouse and the cd gets changed automatically..

    Now thats style.

  • @chi6075 But as you know there is MP3 now, and CD players with extra slots.

  • Cool !!!

  • thats cool but not usefull

  • great, so while my robot is changing CD's i can go to college, get a PhD, become a doctor, make 200,00 a year, retire and come back right when my robot finally puts test drive 3 in the disk tray

  • u doing some awesome jobs man.

  • It would kill my computer because the CD drive is possessed. It closes before you do anything and if you barely touch it it goes in...so if the CD is not fully in the correct spot, it gets stuck which is bad :(

  • looks like something doctor emet brown would build!Incredible!

  • its too slow

  • You're right, so when is the wooden time machine coming out?

  • Amazing, incredible... Just incredible!

  • We should talk

  • 5 OUT OF 5

  • it should be installed on to every desktop computer so I do not need to move at all.

  • Ya no more scratched disks

  • Those people who are saying this is useless, think if you need to burn 100 of the same CD, with this you can set it and go to sleep. All done in the morning.

  • @Freshman000000 but u coulnt sleep bcs of the noise :d

  • You could sleep in another room.

  • @Freshman000000 I dont think you'd be able to sleep with that noise..

  • @smelzlikeflowerz Try to think a little harder.

  • @Freshman000000 i woudlnt be able to sleep with that noise!

  • @b1af Neither actually, but I was thinking more along the lines of sleeping in a different room...possibly even a different building.

  • @Freshman000000

and also a time travelling robot

to get the 100 cds 30 years later and bring'em back to you safely :)

  • @Freshman000000

    RIGHT!

    IS A GREAT ADVANCE!

    FOR PIRACY.... xD

  • @Freshman000000 you would still need to hit "burn" after each one is put in...

  • @MrPhish21 If the guy built this, it's very likely he programmed the computer to "hit burn" for him... It's completely automated... that's the point.

  • and yet another way to avoid daily excercise in front of the plasma screen

  • Beautifull

  • beautiful

  • Jajaja Muy bueno =D 5/5

  • it dont matter if its pointless its awsome

  • awesome, but i'll do it with my own hands^^

  • Your mom must be so proud.

  • @X1107450X Shutup bitch and ride his dick

  • this is useful for people without hands.. oh wait they cant use computer anyway :D too bad

but yeah apart from the take up of space.. and pointlessness.. i have no idea where im gonig this this.. il leave you with :)

  • Useless and awesome

  • Some actually have to burn 100 cd's for something.

  • No matter what other ppl are saying..

    That is frigging awesome..

i could use somthing like that !

  • way too slow to b useful

  • If i was more lazy i will use that.

  • o my god i never noticed how much i need that! just kidding^^

  • Sir, might I say that you're a freaking genius?

  • ill buy this off u

  • erm the things u make r so cool but one question...Iy would be alot faster to pick up the CD and just put it in the thing lmao but still brilliant

  • Is this already invented? xD Because like you should patend this or someshyt. xD

  • 30 years a go they had a perfect invention called a record player and a jukebox and it would change records for u also OOOOO

  • It's not pointless if you need to burn some bulk

CD's and you are a woodworker and already mechanically minded.

...or you could buy a machine. but my parents have one that needs to be watched because it does not pick up CD properly.

  • not pointlless if you wanna burn multiple cd's al;ll day lol jus program system to computer...

  • its pointless, its over complicated be damn will it make a grown man proud

  • 10 points. Cool.

  • haha idk lol i can see how if you bought it it would be a fail! haha but his is still pritty epic eh? lol

  • yeah it pritty koo

  • could you make a machine that will suck a dick?

    just kidding!!

  • this machine is made for lazy people

  • but

    by

building it makes you creative! in witch doing this makes you far from lazy

  • true , but what if you buy one or get it as a gift

  • but he did not and if it was a gift then you would not have much choise lol

  • how do you make this?

  • I have an idea for you: Make something similar to the pendulum trap from Saw V, that is, if you've seen the movie.

  • What did you use to make this? A microcontroller?

  • @p0ker1sc00l

No microcontroller. Solid-state relays, parallel-port I/O and custom software.

  • great!!!!

  • @rappoll lol, true, but you could mass burn music or dvds using this lol, just have a program download music all the time, have the music into a folder that burns to a disc and this changes the disc lol, lazy pirate

  • c'e qua sa ????"???"

  • electromecanique

  • wood :D

  • Wow

  • I bet, for you, that it's the greatest feeling in the world when the finished product is a success. Nice work.

  • That looks like something Dr. Emmit Brown would build!

  • dude you and kipkay would be a perfect youtube duo

  • ahah your right kipkay is pretty awsome!
