Go strait for the 400MM 2.8, the 100-400 has a tough time with sharp images unless it is bright day light to produce sharp images. I tried to self rationalize for almost a year until I got the 300 and 400 Primes.
@quickshooter100 You Sir, are the reason I hate photographers in general. "Ohhh my brand is way cooler, I won't give any proper arguments I'll just bash".
Had Nikon, various cams. Had Canon, a lot more cams, had this lens and about 8 more L lenses... loved Canon. This lens did not generate any dust just like with my 28-300.
@stevegek easy fella! im going on experiance ! moved from canon to nikon and never been happier, but its the eye behind the gear thats vital! cheer up!
@miltonsaurinaromero, uhm, the combo u've got there provides a much poorer IQ than the 100-400 @ any focal length. The 2x converter does very very mutch to the sharpness. Though the 70-200 without any extenders the sharpness would be slightly noticably better (with 100% crop) than the 100-400 @ 100-200 focal length and wide open. still, I think a 70-200 f/4 IS and a 1,4x is a very nice combo in the 100-300 f/5,6 range.
Hi, nice vid! Hey, I am looking to purchase either a Canon 70-200 IS L 2.8 or the Canon 100-400 IS L lens to shoot my sons football games and scenic shots in Colorado, which do you recommend? FYI, I am using the Canon 5D Mark II.
grazie:) .
You should get the 100-400 definitely. On your camera, you can crank that ISO up way high and still get incredible quality -- so you won't need the fast aperture as much -- and the extra range will more than make up for it.
that's an ugly lens.

giby76 1 year ago
@giby76 Discreto stabilizzatore? non va benissimo?

This is a great lens for shooting outdoor field and extreme sports and occasionally nature photography.

one big problem... the push-pull zoom sucks dust! I have one, in one month I could see all the dust inside. And I'm very carefull when using it.
Femidio1 2 years ago
Hmmm, I have one as well, about 6 months, no dust at all. Not like the dust will show up in the pic anyway.

if you shot outside and need more mm take 100-400L,
if indoors and 200mm is enough to get close, 70-200 2.8 is very popular lens
