  • Why didn't Disney kill off this self righteous, pompous, ignorant racist bastard????

  • My favorite Disney quote of all time: "Suceeesss will be miiiine at LAST"

  • He's sort of like an overweight Captain Hook. Heck, he's even got his own Smee in the form of Wiggins.

  • Did You Know The Ratcliffe is The Same Guy Who Played The Clock in Beauty and The Beast

  • this movie sucks

  • governor ratcliffe like gold power

  • lol "Its a trick!" What an asshole.

  • Realistic disney villains:

    Governor Ratcliffe: A greedy man

Sykes: Would do anything to get his money

    Clayton: A hunter

    McLeach: A poacher

Frollo: A fanatic judge who gets driven insane because he doesn't want to give in to his sexual lust

  • Ratcliffe: I've Never Been an Unpopular man

    Wiggins: I Hate You LOL

  • Ratcliffe isn't really evil, he is just a greedy man. This is why he is a realistic villain unlike the second movie where he is the classic vengeful villain.

  • I remember i had a HUGE crush on john smith when i was little

  • I'm glad Percy switched sides at the end of Pocahontas.

  • @TeamRocket2010 So am I!

  • This is one villain that has never died in any movies.

  • @TeamRocket2010 Instead, he ends up going to jail no matter what he did wrong.

  • I just found out a few months ago, that Mel Gibson played John Smith....I can never watch this movie the same way I once did as a child...

  • also does anyone see the context and aggressiveness of where radcliff shoots a guy in the leg and then one of the settlers tries to bash his head in with the blunt of his musket. and then his savages song

  • radclifff is greed, racism, and hatred all boiled into one fat pot. He views himself as royalty and like most white people of that time the superior race. his search for gold makes him risk his men and his own life and war just so he can wipe out the Indians and take over. However i felt that he is kind of sympathetic when he says i never was a popular man, and is jealous of smith because the men like him. i think he thought that the gold was the only way people would respect him

  • destroy land thts not his for money....what a greddy bastard!

  • Such a greedy bastard, but I have to admire the passion

  • Ratcliffe has enemies of The Indians, Captain Hook has enemies of Peter Pan, Wendy, John, Michel and The Lost Boys, Jafar has the enemy of Aladdin, McLeach has the enemy of The Eagle and Cody and Gaston has the enemy of The Beast.

  • Has anyone ever notice how Wiggins never really interacts with anyone else other than Ratcliffe and Percy?

  • @EHH246 I believe he does interact with John Smith when John teaches him how to use a gun

  • How come Mel Gibson had to do an American accent for this film? John Smith was an English settler, MG is an Australian actor. Couldn't he have had a British accent?

  • "Success will be minnnnnnnne, at last!" xD

  • What a bastard, shooting John Smith.

  • @Veruka311096 If would have missed them entirely, since muskets back then weren't very acurate unless they were within 50 yards, and even that close they still missed.

  • pocahontas homegurl shud hook up wit tht yung red head dude lolz

  • 3:06 THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THE ENGLISH LANDED. A Synchronized song sung by a fat pompous jerk and a coordinated dance routine. It took Disney years but they found the lost documents and knew what REALLY happened, damn history is so cool.

  • 4:27...Rape

  • Ratcliffe is a realistic villain, just like Frollo.

    Frollo= Fanatic

    Ratcliffe= Greedy

  • One of the best movies with one of the best villains, Hercules has the best movie and villain :)

  • Ratcliffe is such a cool villain.

  • Chucking pick axes and shovels around? Good job the health and safety brigade weren't around then!

  • I've been thinking about Ratcliffe a little. And he might be one of the best disney villians. He shows problems that societies have right now: Xenophobia and hunger of money and power

  • @ 9:33 pfft yeah right, as if he could hit anything at that range with a matchlock musket! XD

  • "well be sure to give them a proper english greeting"

    "oh, gift baskets?!"

    lol

  • "Wiggins, why do you think those heathens attacked us?"

"Because we Invaded their land, cut down their trees, and dug up their earth?"

    lol

  • he reminds me of a fat Alan Rickman.

  • An evil pug? lol

  • the one dislike is Governor Ratcliffe. ROFL

  • Pocahontas may be one of the most underrated of all of the Disney movies. While historically inaccurate with respect to the colonization of North America, at the very least it offers the viewer an opportunity for objective discussion on the origins of the Virginia colony. I have to applaud Disney Co. for at least making an attempt to teach history to children through film.

  • Wow... I love how the main villain is English, and his immediate subordinate (Smith, also meant to be from England) has an American accent... Hell, you yanks really don't like the English eh?

  • @jdt3000 I wouldn't say that, The US and UK have had a wonderful diplomatic and cultural relationship since 1900. Historically speaking, the real John Smith left England at 16 to become a merchant and mercenary overseas. He didn't return to England until he was 24 and left to Virginia at 26, it is possible that he may have had a different accent. Also, in the film John Smith is voiced by Australian Mel Gibson and if you hear the voice there are moments where the pronunciation is not American.

  • Damn white people! invading and killling..is that all they do!?!

  • @Scar2401 Before you let that get to your head, let's remember that the Mechica migrated to central Mexico from Southwestern North America invading over the local tribe of the Tepanec establishing the Aztec empire. They created an Aztec god named Huitzilopochtli who called for the sacrifice of people to please the god. This is just one historical example of many around the world that show that invasion and domination is done by anyone.

  • I like Governor Ratcliffe as a villain

  • Why would they try to get the gun when it only has one shot? lol

  • @Apophis150 They can be used as clubs as well.

  • I dont care much of the Ratcliffe character but both of his songs are epic. Best one savages cause its so ironic and powerful.

  • The historical John Ratcliffe was a huge jerk, but Disney's version of him is actually more greedy than insane. XD

  • David Ogden Stiers makes a great Ratcliffe. He'd have to be my favorite role of his after Dr. Jumba Jookiba.

  • Demon of GREEEEEEED! OFF WITH HIS HEAD IN HELL.

  • Gift baskets!

  • Why does he look French yet he's English

  • i hate pocahantis of hocatypunktus or what ever shes called because the villain shares the same name as me...and hes nothing like me.

  • Ratcliffe should be filed under "Greed" because it seems all he wants is wealth and fame, not the world like all other Disney villains.

  • @Mk97709 That is the world to some of the upper class.

  • The man who voices Ratcliffe, also voices Wiggins; David Ogden Steirs

  • Does Wiggins remind anyone of Percy or George from Blackadder?

  • @Piccadillyo

Wiggins is same Percy from Blackadder hahaahahaha

  • The new editions of Pocahontas altered the lyrics in Savages...it detracts from its impact I think.

  • Suuuuccccceeeess WILLBE MIIIIINEEEE... Atlast...

  • This version of "Savages" is in a different key then the original (its higher). Is that because of the recording method?

  • @IOS33 It may just be the video. I've seen this happen a few times.

  • does anyone know if ratcliffe was a real historic character? or was he made up...

  • @deionc I dont think he's a real historical character, I think they just used him to represent all the actually historical figures who actually acted like he did. Like trying to get rid of different people and destroying new lands for gold and resources

  • In fact Ratcliffe is a real historical person. His full name is John Ratcliffe.

  • @idiotlimrocks2 I did not know that. Thanks for telling me. You're awesome.

  • You're Welcome and thanks for the compliment.

  • In fact Ratcliffe is a real historical person. His full name is John Ratcliffe

  • @idiotlimrocks2 And he wasnt evil guy:P

  • @babeecznik The story of Captain Ratcliff was documented in an eyewitness account that is included in The Jamestown Adventure.

...when the sly old King espied a fitting time, cut them all off, only surprised Captain Radcliffe alive, who he caused to be bound unto a tree naked with a fire before, and by women his flesh was scraped from his bones with mussel shells, and, before his face, thrown into the fire, and so for want of circumspection miserably perished. The Powhatan Indians killed him.

  • @deionc

I think they made him up try wiking it

  • now here is a disney villain that is sadly underrated

  • @megahappypinkskitty I think he's better than Frollo.

  • Does Ratcliffe and Wiggins remind anyone else of Captain Hook and Smee?

VIDEO IDEA COMING RIGHT AT ME!

  • Ratcliffe's kind of cute.

  • "We must sound the drums of war!" love this part

  • Greedy, selfish, racist, but overall, Govenor Ratcliff is a villain for all to enjoy.

(Ratcliff stands on top of the mountain holding the English flag with his head held high)

  • They slaughtered history with this movie. But I suppose a thirty year-old Smith, with a full beard and brown hair, could never have a romance with a ten year-old Matoaka (Pocahontas).

  • I noticed Ratcliffe is the only Disney villain who has 2 songs: "Mine Mine Mine" and "Savages".

  • Frollo??? The World is Cruel and Hellfire

  • @fanofphantom13 Ah well spotted. Though Frollo's first song wasn't called that. It was a build up to Out There. Does it feature on the soundtrack separately?

  • @mrmjvc actually, he is one of the few. Professor Ratigan from "The Great Mouse Detective" had two out of the three songs in the movie: "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" and "Goodbye So Soon."

  • Him and his sidekick are the only characters I like in this movie

  • this dude does not get enough credit as a disney villan

    also wiggens i awesome

  • i lke the bit were he says ooohh giftbaskets thts funny

  • @TheSpence08 I know I loled

  • :D lol hes one of the best characters in the film

  • Wiggins rulezzz!!! and Ratcliffe is funny XDD

  • Alot of men wore girly pigtails back in the 1600's.

  • "And gag him as well!"

    Thomas is so awesome.

  • i can never take this guy seriously. he looks too funny.

  • Ratcliffe kicks ASS!

  • Who dosen't love a fat man with facial hair?

  • David Ogden Stiers does a fabulous job as Radcliffe and Wiggins!! :)

  • Yeah he does! I like David Ogden Stiers. He's a FANTASTIC ACTOR! I love his performance as Charles Winchester III on M*A*S*H*.

  • I do too!! He is also a great singer.

  • I know why is fat because he eats too much drumsticks.

  • Ratcliff is a Real Unic Villian!

  • A very important line of this character is missing here. Where he says to Thomas "Don't fail me again" and brings the boy to kill Kocoum. The releasing of Smith is perfectly useless here. Anyway you did a good editing job with all the Disney Villains, my congratulations!

  • Wow! In both The Lion King and Pocahontas, The villains minions turn against him in the end.

  • Scar eatin' by the hyenas and Ratcliffe goes to Jail.

  • Yeah, I prefer the ending with Scar being devoured by the hyenas.

  • In Atlantis too.

  • When I was a kid I use to love Ratcliffe as much as Scar from Lion King.

  • You know who this guy looks like? Professor Ratigan in human form. He treats the little puppy like Ratigan treats Felicia, he even has visions of becoming ruler when he discovers gold, similar to Ratigan. He dresses fancy, has little feet...I think that's where Disney got inspiration for this guy, from Professor Ratigan.

  • he got to sing one of the best disney songs, savages

  • Don't forget, "Mine Mine Mine."

  • Not exactly the best historical representation, am I right?

But still, a good Disney villain.

  • It's kinda strange Ratcliffe doesnt spoke to the main character in the movie (Pochaontas) while other Disney villians usualy speak to the main character or at least confront them...

  • Ratcliffe became number 29 in the list of Top 30 most populer Disney Villains. No wonder he's so underrated.

  • RATCLIFFE ROCKS! Learn to use that thing properly! A man's not a man unless he knows how to shoot! BEST LINES! David Ogden Stiers did a fantastic job bringing Ratcliffe to life! I love all the DISNEY VILLAINS! THEY ROCK!

  • great movie

  • he kinda looks like a fat jafar.hehehehe.

  • He looks more like a Fat Captain Hook.

  • Governor Ratcliffe and Jafar do look alike, but Governor Ratcliffe does resemble Captain Hook more strongly. Ratcliffe and Hook are also two racist rulers who have a ship. Those are strong similarities, and maybe then some.

  • It's like Scar looked like a lion version of Jafar.

  • He's like a fat Captainb Hook, but has more of Jafar's persona.

  • Only not as goofy.

  • "Ratcliffe is really a very underrated Disney villain."

I think it's his looks...he has to lose the pigtails because it's causing people not to take him very seriously.

  • Ratcliffe is really a very underrated Disney villain.

  • Wiggins sounds like Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast.

  • Wiggins and Cogsworth are voiced by the same guy--Who also voiced Ratcliffe!

  • Ratcliffe sounds like Jumba from Lilo and Stitch.

  • he is

  • and that guy played Charles Emerson Winchester the III on M*A*S*H*

  • @CartoonDork Wow, really? He also did the voice of the archdeacon in Hunchback of Notre Dame. As well as the narration for Beauty and the Beast.

  • @1stbrasscaptain He did plenty of voices;cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast,Jumba from Lilo and Stitch,Gryzlikoff in Darkwing Duck,Mr. Jolly in Teacher's Pet

  • @CartoonDork Not to mention Dr. Jumba in Lilo and Stitch

  • Ratcliffe's really into gold more than himself. 5 stars!

  • I like him.

  • Ofcourse alot of people dislike Ratcliffe. But Wiggins likes him and so do I.

  • Everybody but the heroes likes Disney villains. :)

  • I like this villain better then Frollo.

  • wow that like realy dead on true

  • i have to say i never in my life liked ratcliffe as a disney villain

because he represents a personality that is filled, with evil, lust

and greediness which is based on realty and all that goes related to his persona goes inside anybody no matter what race, religion, sex, language or anything that a person has or is it all depends on the intensions.

  • @magickal87 thats the point!! umm last time i checked thats why there called .. umm whats the word?? VILLAINS
