I would watch the movie Cannibal Holocaust but i have a huge heart for animals. and i heard the animals were actually killed i would prob. bust out crying with the animal scenes. are the animal killing scenes really bad?
@lampyman101 k thanks for letting me know, but are the scenes like really really bad with it, because i really wanna see the movie, but dont wanna see the animals killed maybe i can skip through those parts?
Yeah, the animal killings are strong stuff and once you see them you can't quite get them out of your head. The DVD I have gives you the option of watching the movie without those scenes but I've never tried it--I mean, it's not like you watch this film for a night of charming, gentle family entertainment, and the animal killings aren't necessarily the worst things about it.
@metallicaguitarfan LOL He's a bit classy for a film like this. Mike is played by my favourite Italian exploitation film actor Giovanni Lomabardo Radice (aka John Morghan)
Yeah, i corrected myself about 20 secs after i posted the comment, when i remember ive seen him in house on the edge of the park.
And, if you read the comment, could u review newer exploitation films, like Long Pigs and Hobo with a shotgun, been a subscriber off ur channel for a long time, and i would love it.. one grindhouse fan to another :)
cocaine and emeralds is an odd mix? you mean you dont do lines and look at sparkly green shit? lol i watched cannibal holocaust and that was just dumb i kept getting lost kuz they go from the jungle to the city then to the old camera crew then back to the city.
@bringeroffunerals It's kinda up to you to make that call when you see it. I personally thought it was silly but fun (though there is of course the animal cruelty which puts many people off). I always enjoy Giovanni Lombardo Radice in pretty much whatever he does
@Pageyindahouse No. Holocaust has more of a shock value, especially due to its realism. Ferox is more of a fun movie with campy lines and a couple of gore scenes thrown in to please the audience.
Is this the movie where a guy gets his part of his head chopped off (the part that extends out of a hole on a board)? I saw that movie as a kid and it disturbed me my entire life.
@Dualismoassoluto The animal killings were pretty pointless. They can use special effects and props to kill the characters but they can't on the animals? I'm glad the asshole that made the movie went to jail. I'm not even a serious animal lover, but that was just wrong and stupid.
What I found to be the grossest thing in this flick was the native eating the raw catepillars,.. THAT made me puke ! But then again, natives in the Amazon would probably see the way WE "civilized" western folks eat and say we're disgusting,.. so I supose thats relative.
Would you believe the first time I saw this I damn near puked? It was more the grotesque animal killing that bothered me, as opposed to the cheesy gore effects though.
Things to consider, what's the likelihood of 2 groups of New Yorkers just happening to bump into each other in the middle of the Amazon jungle? Plus, why does a cannibal film start off like a 70s detective film, complete with shots of New York and cheesy 70s disco soundtrack?
When you get through the Nasties, I'd love to hear your take on those who were influenced by the grindhouse era, like Eli Roth's work or Devil's Rejects...
Unfortunately, the all of the animal death scenes are very real in this movie. The koatimundi or however you spell it is really killed by the reticulated python and the monkey is killed by the jaguar/leopard. They got in big trouble with this in The Cannibal Holocaust. Though, I'd have to say this movie was way more disturbing than the Holocaust one was.
Yes, but what the cannibals did to the people was only in revenge of what they did to their people. Helluva justice system if you ask me. Not so much satisfaction in our punishment system here in America when it comes to the most violent offenders. Make 'em watch this and there'll be no more violence or at least less of it! At least, I admit that Pat and the others most certainly didn't deserve any of it, only the horrible man with bad temper that was extremely cruel toward the natives.
I also saw this on VHS from the Cosa Nostra label (tape ended as soon as end credits b Umberto Lenzis ''Cannibal Turkey'', the cannibal genre of explotation/horror, was not a breakthrough for this old italian sleaze director, apart from the gore effects, the rest is laughable.
I've only seen parts of this film and it's unlikely that I will ever watch it in its entirety. From the clips I've seen I would rate Pat as the best female in the film, she is stunningly attractive. I was disappointed when the cannibals caught her and hung her up by hooks through her breasts as I hoped she would escape. I know from lampyman's excellent review that Pat met her end whilst hanging by her breasts but I have often wondered what they did with her when she died. Did she get eaten?
You never find out. If you want a happy ending you can imagine she was rescued by a handsome adventurer who happened to be an excellent surgeon who could fix her up again.
I would certainly have tried to rescue Pat if I had been there. Not only was she beautiful, I kind of liked the fact that she was a touch naughty without being too bad. Im fairly sure that I saw a clip a while ago which showed Pat gasp her final breath as she hung with the hooks through her breasts so Im not sure I can go with the happy ending, nice idea though! I guess that as the cannibals killed her they may just as well have eaten her so that at least she didnt die for nothing.
I'd rather pretend they all decided to head home after their jeep got stuck in the mud. That way, only the mean guy got his in the end and none of them. Yeah! "Sorry everyone, but we have to go back, we're not hoofing it thru the mess." "Okay. Home, here we come!" And the natives go back to playing cards or whatever seeing the strangers are leaving. LOL! Unfortunately, the mean guy tries to get their attention but the natives get him and Pat and the rest of them are out of there already.
Surely it would not be possible to hang someone up by hooks through the breasts. Wouldn't the flesh stretch and then rip apart? When this is done to Pat, her breasts don't even change shape and her body stays vertical..

The review kinda says it all but yes the acting is crap though Giovanni Lombardo Radice is always fun to watch. Its a silly film but entertaining enough and a lot less grim than 'Holocaust'. Its another that will never be fully uncut in the UK due to genuine animal cruelty but I can recommend the US region 1 Grindhouse release
The plot is typical of Italian splatter really, its a vehicle for getting to the gore, but there's enough story there to keep it interesting, just don't expect anything too deep.
Its a camp film in many respects with clunky dialogue but it's fun enough despite the killing of animals which really didn't need to happen. Lenzi was just ridding holocaust with that party trick
I spit on your Grave tied with Evil Dead. very different films but both with some excellent qualities. 'I Spit' is one I still find hard to watch but it is much more sophisticated than its given credit for.
Yeah I understand what you're saying. It can be difficult to find the best copy. I often use a site called dvdcompare. Its not perect but it does give you a starting point. I may at some point do an article on what the best versions I can find are but that in its own right can take a long time and I dont want to clutter the critiques with dvd comparisons. As for holocaust i can recomend the grindhouse edition (us import) It's uncut and nicely presented.
Great review, but what is missing is advice on which are the ultimate released DVD versions out there. There are so many cut versions claiming to be the uncut versions, same as Cannibal Holocaust.
I was sorely disappointed with the VIPCO version of Holocaust but I read that the 2 disc special edition of Holocaust is THE one to get. Can you advise?
Cheers matey. Yeah its not the best film out there but it is one of the more outrageous. Radice (Mike the killer) always makes these films watchable for me though, even when as he says the film is a 'piece of shit'. The commentary to this DVD is worth the cost alone as Lenzi (the director) and Radice contradict each other every five seconds. Was this actually on Canadian TV? Was it uncut? I cant imagine what companies would advertise during this film......
yeah from what i know it has like 5-7 minutes cut out but still had the killings of the animals and humans with most of the gore as i am lead to believe but since it was edited i dont know what me and my buddy missed... im gonna subscribe good times lampy
