We all have some bad qualities and prejudicies and we always make mistakes. Even the great Gauss made mistakes when he declared certain methods to be worthless, now his criticiism notwhithstanding, those method are so widely used for solving many kinds of problems! The electric light was simply improved upon, because previous light bulb filaments by other inventors burnt out in about 5 seconds. And, no one had invented the movie camera before him so, he couldn't have "stolen" that either.
