I know it's our right as Americans to buy guns... but even if someone who checks out with a clean background and good credit could still be a psycho in disguise and cause some havoc with those kinds of weapons. Personally, I wouldn't mind owning some kick ass guns and be able to go out to a large shooting range and go to town, but there's always some crazy freak who will ruin the whole thing for everybody. People can't be trusted these days.

I wasn't involved in war directly because I was 14 then
but my town was bombed and shelled quite often, since it has big tactical value

I agree that the cops should have access to these weapons immediately on the scene in the first place, but I agree with that line. This was a once in a trillion scenario. 9/10 other shootings in the US were done with a simple pistol or another form of semi-automatic weaponry, not armor piercing assault rifles with aramid body armor.

@daftrok I will respect your opinion, but what is your definition of a sniper rifle? If you go into a gun shop and look at the rifles that are available, any one of the bolt action big game rifles that are for sale could be construed as such. There really is no difference in function or design between a military sniper rifle and most civilian hunting rifles. If those were banned, then an enormous chunk of all civilian owned firearms in the US would be illegal. These are very popular guns too.

@daftrok Also, consider the fact that a common big game rifle like your grandfather might have owned is inherently more powerful than an AK-47. A big game rifle fires a high powered cartridge designed for taking down an 800 pound animal. An AK-47 fires an intermediate round which will kill a 180 pound man, but would be a poor choice for shooting elk. And although you may be against hunting, it's important for maintaing a healthy ecosystem. Trust me. Ask any game warden and he will explain why.

yes, it can, remember, ak-47's projectiles can only reach arround 2400 fps, which is too slow to go through the car.. using m 16 would be different, it has arround 3200 fps, but it only has 5.56 cal. , so a good choise would be to use one of the modern weapons like scar, or beowulf..

@varocks183, That's an illegal weapon. Once you punch a whole in the receiver of your WASR or similar AK variant it is considered a machine gun by U.S. law, regardless of if there is even an auto sear installed or not. They had illegal weapons.
