To be fair, if I was in that much pain, I wouldn't really be focused on everything around me. The pain would be on my mind, and if that is what happened, maybe even cold to ppl. But maybe during the song she realized "ah well, this happens." so she just shrugged it off, because maybe she felt bad for being grumpy ( but still no doubt i would be) to Scotty and he was trying to help her feel better. So, no one really knows what happend, but at least she got up there to let ppl have a good time.

@Charlizefan I think it's the Public Relations ppl helping them with their public image. They tell young artists like Scotty that it's best if they SAY they are single, so the fangirls still dream of being with him &buy CDs, tickets to shows etc. Also,if he says he's single it helps Lauren's career, cuz less fangirls will hate her & maybe will buy her music too. Unfortunately, these 2 are so cute together that it kind of gives away how close they are, so people still believe their a couple. :)

Sure they are freaking adorable together and just need to admit they like each other, but they aren't avoiding it. They're normally teenagers that don't like to have rumors spread bout them. Lets give them the space that they need it clear that the dating rumor was getting to both of them or they would not have both made statements. They are too young to appreciate what they mean to each other and their careers have just started. These two have chemistry which everyone can see no matter how Scotty tries to distance himself and it is not natural to have this for your sister/brother. Enjoy their duets allow them to enjoy their youth and new career & leave their personal lives alone.
I can tell they're not dating. Not necessarily because of this duet, but because they've shot it down so many times so convincingly. Although I wish they were a couple, we have to face the facts that it probably will never happen :(

@septchild09 at The Insider website there's a video. Tour rehearsals interview with Lauren, Jacob and Thia. she said her and Scotty don't have that kind of connection. Everyone wanted it so bad so she liked to joke about it a lot to lead people have some hope. lol.

I can't believe people are bad mouthing Scotty's performance in this video...wow. As I posted on their Phoenix video, IMO I think this is to intimate of a song for these guys to perform. Just my opinion so plz don't start bashing me.

First, jack, I agree. This isn't about them dating. Pia is dating Mark, but the chemistry on stage with Stefano is good. After seeing a few interviews, my guess is it was a minor offense like Scotty laughing at her. She said people were making fun of her, but it wasn't funny.
One thing that is certain from this video is that whatever she said to her changed the dynamics of the song. It was as easy as that and he did not have to do it but he did.. Scotty and Lauren show us what you are made of. Give us that steller and magical performance in your duets moving forward. Everytime I watch the Today show duet I am left speechless because it was that good. Maybe when you both get on stage you need to become another person.
I totally agree with you. I just said the same thing for the duet from Pheonix. People then said I did not like Scotty BUT I do and think he is an expectional performer in his other songs. But by now this duet should be magical because they have the chemistry. I think he needs to speak with Casey & Stephano for some tips.In duets both persons have to give it their ALL IN PERFORMING the song. It is not about wanting them to date. On the AI show they did a super job and you wanted MORE of that.

Scotty and Lauren are two complete opposite personalities. personally i think Lauren is not his type, he is a gentleman and he never looks to offend her or anything just played along. I doubt Lauren and Scotty was having any argument. She must have been hurting so badly, and that must have been it since she didn't even perform for Gone. Knowing Lauren, she must have been mad at herself for not going through that performance and maybe Scotty must have talked to her about it too. He must have agreed about her not performing and resting, since he cares a lot about her. So that could have caused the cold shoulders but hey! they did smile. Don't worry, McLaina is there :)
Sacramento performance was TOTALLY opposite of this!! It was THE BEST on tour!! It's been said that the idols have to sign a contract that has a "no dating" clause in it, but yet and still "idol" people, including ryan, kept at them about dating. These two have natural chemistry and when they are singing to each other is when they sell it!! Just sayin' I don't believe it's ALL Scotty or Lauren's choice of the way they're having to deal with this. they still have to be professional though.

i watched every video of there duet of their concert ( AI 2011) because im there fan. i like scotty and Lauren.. but in every situation there into lauren is always to be blamed..why because she is the the one who is outspoken of the two? she is bubbly and sweet and witty and warm and always cracking a joke while Scotty is more reserved gentle man looking and a very AMERICAN boy as what other fans saying a good son. I agree with some of these comments. Please just keep in mind people that these are just two teenage kids. It isn't fair to judge either of them when none of us has any facts or knows what's going on in their personal lives. Stop the bashing. They weren't fighting. Laurens ankle was hurting her that night and they pulled her from doing the next song "Gone". I'm sure she was upset about that. I think what showed here is her anguish and his concern for his best friend. I don't think she is happy with her situation and he is in a position that he can't do anything or change it except to try and make her smile. They love each other (in whatever form it is) and have both said that repeatedly. Give them a break.

If she was upset because of the pain in her ankle, I wish her a speedy recovery. And if it was a fight with Scotty, I really hope they can work it out. We may never know the issue, but what I do know is that I will always stand behind Lauren!

The most important thing is that he treats her right. As far as the public image goes, I'm not sure how he got it in his head that it would be bad for him to show some PDA's towards her. If actually got close to her, took her hand, and showed a little of whats in his heart. Sang the song TO her, instead of just with her. the place would probably explode into space from the crowd reaction.

hey all i'll mention scotty also. He seems a little uncertain in the beginning of this video but at 2:05 they both change and bring Life into the duet. I think they both realized that they were just performing and it was dead. If you really are paying attention - scotty is also very affected by whatever is going on but seems to have taken a "Oh well whatever" attitude and in true typical male fashion waits for the cue from his lady which he got at 2:05 Yeah baby. (mother of two sons here)

Lets cut the boy a little slack here. He is after all what 17, and admittedly doesn't have much experience with girls. That and he could be listening to advice from an agent or his record label. Stupid advice if you ask me but he might not realize that. Or it could be that she has a crush on him and he just doesn't like her that way and it's causing tension between them. Jack, you're on to something there with the other idol duet comments. The theory is that to quell the tabloids, they need to keep distance, however the buzz is going to happen anyway! Its happened since Kelly vs. Justin & you know what they did? They road the wave, even made a movie "Justin Loves Kelly." (Bad movie, but they were paid, loyal fans happy.) This is what Idol does, make partnerships, see who has chemistry and takes off. Pia & Stefano, Casey & Haley, its OK.

He needs to work on singing a love song to someone, not just Lauren. To be fair, if I was in that much pain, I wouldn't really be focused on everything around me. The pain would be on my mind, and if that is what happened, maybe even cold to ppl. But maybe during the song she realized "ah well, this happens." so she just shrugged it off, because maybe she felt bad for being grumpy ( but still no doubt i would be) to Scotty and he was trying to help her feel better. So, no one really knows what happend, but at least she got up there to let ppl have a good time.

They tell young artists like Scotty that it's best if they SAY they are single, so the fangirls still dream of being with him &buy CDs, tickets to shows etc. Also,if he says he's single it helps Lauren's career, cuz less fangirls will hate her & maybe will buy her music too. Unfortunately, these 2 are so cute together that it kind of gives away how close they are, so people still believe their a couple. :)

Lets give them the space that they need it clear that the dating rumor was getting to both of them or they would not have both made statements. They are too young to appreciate what they mean to each other and their careers have just started. These two have chemistry which everyone can see no matter how Scotty tries to distance himself and it is not natural to have this for your sister/brother. Enjoy their duets allow them to enjoy their youth and new career & leave their personal lives alone.

First, jack, I agree. This isn't about them dating. Pia is dating Mark, but the chemistry on stage with Stefano is good. After seeing a few interviews, my guess is it was a minor offense like Scotty laughing at her. She said people were making fun of her, but it wasn't funny.

One thing that is certain from this video is that whatever she said to her changed the dynamics of the song. It was as easy as that and he did not have to do it but he did.. Scotty and Lauren show us what you are made of. Give us that steller and magical performance in your duets moving forward. Everytime I watch the Today show duet I am left speechless because it was that good. Maybe when you both get on stage you need to become another person.

I totally agree with you. I just said the same thing for the duet from Pheonix. People then said I did not like Scotty BUT I do and think he is an expectional performer in his other songs. But by now this duet should be magical because they have the chemistry. I think he needs to speak with Casey & Stephano for some tips.In duets both persons have to give it their ALL IN PERFORMING the song. It is not about wanting them to date. On the AI show they did a super job and you wanted MORE of that.

I doubt Lauren and Scotty was having any argument. She must have been hurting so badly, and that must have been it since she didn't even perform for Gone. Knowing Lauren, she must have been mad at herself for not going through that performance and maybe Scotty must have talked to her about it too. He must have agreed about her not performing and resting, since he cares a lot about her. So that could have caused the cold shoulders but hey! they did smile. Don't worry, McLaina is there :)

Sacramento performance was TOTALLY opposite of this!! It was THE BEST on tour!! It's been said that the idols have to sign a contract that has a "no dating" clause in it, but yet and still "idol" people, including ryan, kept at them about dating. These two have natural chemistry and when they are singing to each other is when they sell it!! Just sayin' I don't believe it's ALL Scotty or Lauren's choice of the way they're having to deal with this. they still have to be professional though.

Stop the bashing. They weren't fighting. Laurens ankle was hurting her that night and they pulled her from doing the next song "Gone". I'm sure she was upset about that. I think what showed here is her anguish and his concern for his best friend. I don't think she is happy with her situation and he is in a position that he can't do anything or change it except to try and make her smile. They love each other (in whatever form it is) and have both said that repeatedly. Give them a break.

I do think he is having to be extremely cautious because we do tend to go a little overboard with our " IMO's" . We need to give them a break cause we are not walking in there shoes or living their lives. Lets just enjoy and bless this special friendship/relationship as it grows and developes before our eyes. You are so correct. I have noticed this from the finale acts. Lauren, you are such a beautiful lady who needs to be respected and appreciated. The dude is really bind I wonder if he realizes how she looks at him it is like you can see through her heart.

I see no one mentioning SCOTTY here so I will be the first.
He is one BLIND dude, either he's ignorant or full of himself cos in the tour acts i have seen, he is ALWAYS carefully distancing himself from Lauren and all about protecting his image so that young girls in the audience will not get crushed. I get it but I don't see how Lauren will stick around him any longer if he continues to treat her this way!

I noticed the same thing. He's much more cautious and almost every time now he does show her any PDA, e.g. SLC holding her hand, the next concert, he is back to Mr. Cool, 3 ft distance like this is basketball. I guess being the "country" Justin Bieber, is more important right now.

Lets cut the boy a little slack here. He is after all what 17, and admittedly doesn't have much experience with girls. That and he could be listening to advice from an agent or his record label. Stupid advice if you ask me but he might not realize that. Or it could be that she has a crush on him and he just doesn't like her that way and it's causing tension between them. Most of use older people have been through that at some point along the way.

YEAH 3-5 FEET DISTANCE, ALWAYS. he never goes near her like, ever. it's always helping her down the stairs and then distance himself immediately. no body language in terms of connection. he just stares at her with his body facing the crowd. it's like HALF-HEARTED. sorry but this is the reason why other Idol pairs have more chemistry than these two because they give it all they have unlike Scotty. i think his reputation is more important to him than Lauren now. just saying!!

Jack, you're on to something there with the other idol duet comments. The theory is that to quell the tabloids, they need to keep distance, however the buzz is going to happen anyway! Its happened since Kelly vs. Justin & you know what they did? They road the wave, even made a movie "Justin Loves Kelly." (Bad movie, but they were paid, loyal fans happy.) This is what Idol does, make partnerships, see who has chemistry and takes off. Pia & Stefano, Casey & Haley, its OK.

Lauren's only 16 they both have plenty of time to date whomever they choose. Plus they are human and maybe they were just having a bad day. I feel bad for them because dating or not everyone seems to want to but their 'friendhship' under a microscope.

@cirrusdr im not interested if they date or anything. i was merely pointing out what i saw in these duets and particularly this one in which she looked upset and hurt. He needs to work on singing a love song to someone, not just Lauren. He's always holding back and it affects the overall chemistry needed in this song. this my own opinion and apparently 12 people actually agree with me? lol.

@jacktocontact But shouldn't Lauren also learn how to not look upset/hurt on stage. After all this is a business people pay good money to see them perform. I'm just saying we don't have any idea who or what made her upset. Poor Scotty can't win if he was all over her on stage people would assume all kinds of things about their life off stage the comments here prove that . Maybe that's why he holds back... I'm just saying :-). I like to see him do a duet with someone else before I judge.

That is what makes her so adorable is that she wears her heart on her sleeve. It's obvious she's angry at him. Whether he did something to really warrant it or not, he should go make things right with her. Hopefully his Mom or someone with a little more experience with young women will clue him in. Men can say things that will hurt a womans feelings not realizing that we do so. Especially when we're young.

@fourltrman yeah i personally think that he hurt her with something he said/did, either knowingly or not we will never know. have seen how they interacted with each other and they have the closeness to get on each other' nerves unlike other Idols, so it's pretty normal if such stuff happens but i guess it hit her right in the heart this time whatever it was, you can tell it. it's like a firework display from Lauren here!
