  • can anyone tell me in the footage of Roger's repatriation for burial, was he laid to rest in Millto9wn Cemetary?

  • True or false the words in his "diary", he was an fighter against the dark side of human beings, facing it in Congo and Amazonia. Maybe the diary was not genuine, he is still a universal hero.

  • I don't believe they diary to be genuine and the Roger Casement Foundation are doing good work to prove they are false. However, regardless of that the work he did should not be forgotten inside and outside of Ireland. A true hero!

  • Thanks for the music, video, & summary. For anyone interested, look up Casement's humanitarian work in the Congo (an influence on the writing of Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness'), & in S America. Whether genuine or not, the 'Black Diaries' which were shown to the jury identified him as homosexual, & helped get the death sentence.

  • hail hail comrade...

  • best video on youtube

  • A mention for the singer would be nice! Wolf Tones methinks?

  • brilliant song and video.

  • hermoso, me hace recordar a un personaje de mi historia, historia del pueblo peruano, José MAría Arguedas, defensor de los DD HH de las culturas quechuas. Seres como estos son universales

  • one of the best rebel songs ever

  • up the chucks

  • Roger casement was inherently a protestant englishman and a full enforcer of the establishment in its colonys - but that stopped with reland, he utterly opposed the digusting treament by the british to one of the actual members of the UK and the genocide commited. He was prepared to arm the IRA and die for the cause for home rule. And he gave his life. a true hero and lesson to those you who question and tar all english and non-catholics with the same brush. • I just found out that Roger Casement was my grandfather, quite amazed to say the least.

  • @olliesmith132 Aye right. Is this the same Roger Casement that was born in 1864 yet you have just found this out? I sense a whiff of bullshit in that post.

  • @Germungus well, great great great grandfather and I'd never heard of him before finding out, being a 17 year old englishman that hasn't got much knowledge of the troubles.

  • The German ship was lying there, with rifles in galore.

    Up came a British ship and spoke, 'No Germans reach the shore;

You are our Empire's enemy, and so we bid you stand.

No German boot shall e'er pollute

    the lonely Banna Strand.'

As they sailed for Queenstown Harbour, said the Germans: 'We're undone

The British have us vanquish'd: man for man and gun for gun.

We've twenty thousand rifles here, that never will reach land.

We'll sink them all, and bid farewell

    to lonely Banna Strand.'

  • Good song, sang well!

  • Read Read about his life - he was a good man

  • My respects Roger Casement, you are now a model for the current generations. I knew about your life trough the book "El sueño del Celta" by Mario Vargas Llosa, and it is impossible do not feel a lot of emotions with your sacrified life. You were in my country Peru, fighting the colonialism and abuses against native people. Thank you for that.

Resistance is in our hearts. Change it for our kids.

  • Este hombre Casement tuvo un valiente papel en la defensa de los derechos humanos por los abusos de los caucheros en el Congo y Perú. Su historia es ejemplar.

  • As the Irish patriot Roger Casement put it: I know of two tragic histories in the world - that of Ireland and that of Macedonia. Both of them have been deprived and tormented.

  • Thank you for the wonderful video! I have

read his biography and he is, of course,

mentioned in many histories of "the troubles," but to see the beautiful photos and video of his return make it all much more "real" somehow. Well done!!

  • As an English Nationalist, I salute this brave and patriotic Irish Nationalist. May his memory never fade.

  • And they found him on my great, great grandfathers land, Mckenna's fort....Which is now called casement's fort, in Rathoneen. God bless a true martyr!
