All but one of the budgets that had increases in the deficits from the previous year happened when Democrats controlled one or both houses of Congress. The smallest increase in deficit was when Republicans controlled both houses; the largest increases in deficit were when Democrats controlled both houses ... when Obama was in the Senate. And then he increased the deficit even more when he became President, still with both houses Democratic.

The entire world economy is tied the US. When the US hurts, the entire world is hit harder. He is right, both the pound and the Euro (and the canadian dollar) have all fallen against the US dollar becuase the worlds biggest and richest consumer is cutting back economically. This "receesion" might arguably be a good thing for the US dollar, counterary to popular belief.

btw "receesion" is written as "depression". If you think in any way that the US is coming out of this better then the rest of the world, you must be ignorant. US economy is based on consumption and you could only do this by having the dollar as world reserve currency. But this won't hold for much longer and without a currency propped up by healthy economies like china and others and without a decent manufacturing base, you guys are so screwed! Hyperinflation is certainly coming USA's way.
