aerosmith was around before maiden. but not judas preist. priest came out in 1969 a little bit after sabbath did in that year. aerosmith came out in 1970. and no....aerosmith doesn't get classified as heavy metal. (maybe back in the saddle and walking on water) the heavier aerosmith came out way after the band came out. sabbath was the most influential heavy metal band of all time. then priest. all of the people you mentioned were more influenced by sabbath than aerosmith. thats a fact.
