this hoop is wonderful. How long did it take you to make and how much did it cost you? Have you thought about selling one? If you are willing let me know
Hi, thanks, it wasn't too difficult, I made up my own pattern. It was also relatively inexpensive because I didn't use traditional materials. The material is canvas, and I couldn't find strong enough boning, so it is actually 1/4 plumber's plastic pipe.
@darcy888 Well done! wow you did a really good job. Very inovative to use plumers plastic pipe & canvas. Where did you get a canvas sheet that size? Did you make a pattern or a how to video by any chance I would love to make one or buy one.
Hi will you make a video on how to make it or give us ideas on how to do them ? would be very appreciated . I have been looking for one but cant find one . thank you !!!!!!
I was just recently discussing how fashion shaped the infrastructure (from transportation to furniture, from walking paths to door widths) in history-- noting that it would be quite impossible for fashions like your lovely Georgian hoops or farthingales or crinolines would be today (if the majority of women were wearing them)-- using the sidewalk, elevator, driving (or taking the train or bus) would be quite difficult if not impossible. Excellent video- and very interesting thesis topic! :-)
Wait! I wanted to see her get behind the wheel of her car, and drive away.
Don't know if she could get away with picking the sides up so high back then. The victorian women showed lots of breast and cleavage ... but seeing a lady's ankle was a no no. That is why many southern antebellum homes had two staircases. One for women the other for men.
@kenlo77 the skirt is actually based on hooping from the mid-georgian period, when it was considered fashionable to expose the ankle. also this project isn't highly concerned with feminism or social constraints of fashion. the skirt is meant to represent the bubble of personal space we create for ourselves.
youll never feel clastriphobic again..

did you use spiral steel boning for the hopping or a different product sewn into the fabric?
rainbowcollin2001 6 months ago
@rainbowcollin2001 - it's actually PVC plumbers piping fed into sewn channels.

This says to me.....stay away. Talk to me from a distance. It says I am worthy of this much space I am big and important.
I love how you appear to float as you walk :)

Hoopskirts can be awesome. Wearing one can make you feel really powerful since everyone has to get out of your way. ^_^
