@owGuit4r the fretless bass has no frets and the normal bass does have frets.... in regards to sound... the fretless has more of a horn tone soft and smooth and the fretted generally has a crisper, more square tone...

like for instance contrast jaco pastorious to *most* of the bass that victor wooten plays
