I've seen this happen with so many of my friends. The key is to stop wasting $3 here on Starbucks coffee and $5 there on fast food. It ADDS up a lot faster than you think. Stop doing that and start paying down the Payday loans, make them an offer to pay in installments. Just make sure to get these offers in writing first.
You're on to something here in the sense that this kind of public service announcement needs to be visual... Demonize the PayDay lenders in some way visually. You can't explain the numbers to people and expect that to stick. So this treadmill idea is a good start... What about comparing PayDay Loan shops to mob hang outs or drug dens? PayDay loans are trying to bust people out, just like mob-tied loan sharks.
