  • @thamutebutton Theres also a video of him singing Five feet and Rising on it.

  • Never knew Johnny Cash did Sesame St. If I were a musician, I'd feel like I knew I really made it when you get to do Sesame St!

  • This pretty much sums up my child hood. Johnny cash and sesamy street.

  • @MrCanada144 Replace Johnny Cash with Black Sabbath and you get my childhood. ;) Sesame Street was awesome, and Johnny Cash equally so.

  • @rainbow6vegaslover I saw this in the mid to late 70s. As far as I can remember it was in a Sesame musical special with lots of guest musicians. I think Diana Ross sang the opening theme. I'm going to look for that next.

  • @DaveWollenberg

    True! Almost didnt recognise him.

  • I think I figured out why God gave us two eyes. We can use one to cry for losing Johnny and the other for losing Jim Henson. RIB guys. You are forever two American treasures

  • what are we supposed to have learned there?

  • @roryphelan that Johnny Cash is awesome and epic beyond imagining

  • @roryphelan Just to enjoy a great singer playing something that was completely out of character for him. So funny! I like to watch this every so often; it makes me laugh. So does a Boy Named Sue.

  • In the PC modern world the song is about Cooperative Dan.

  • I think Oscar would have identified with the father in A Boy Named Sue.

  • Makes you wonder what Oscar's doing with his other hand listening about all these "Nasty" things.

  • johny cash in sesame street is freak.... but nice

  • ´Sesamestreet I hate every ince of you..`

  • @Widdekuu91 )Than you must be Nasty Dan's relation!! ;-)

  • Oscar was always my favorite

  • Cash: "He'd jump for joy when a little boy'd trip and fall"

    Oscar: "Really neat."

    LOL!

  • @schlumbucket he actually says "really mean" not really neat

  • old school sesame street is so much better than the watered down PC everything has to be sunshine and lollipops version they have now

  • How long ago did this air? Anyone?

  • @RoaccVideos 1974. Not sure the exact air date, but it was from Season 5.

  • I have never heard that song before! Right up Oscars alley!

  • @rodgerslady what do you mean starve herself?

  • dang june talk about tight black dress!

  • Is it just me or does it seem like Oscar is made out of shag rug, looks like a talking clump of weed, and talk like a pissed off hippie

  • @DemonLord120

Well, the early Kermit (Jim Henson's first Muppet) was made out of of Jim's mother's coat, so draw your own conclusions.

  • Oscar should grow a beard.

  • This Dan guy seems awesome

  • Just gotta say, Johnny Cash is awesome. R.I.P.

  • I love this. Can anyone let me know how old Johnny was here?

  • Comment removed

  • @mikeshanteler well, it is from 1974, not sure the exact air date, so 41-42.

  • Johnny Cash and Oscar the grouch, 2 of my favorite ppl! Love it!

  • It's TRUE: Johnny Cash's songs appeal to EVERYONE!

Anyone else bang on Oscar's trashcan with their guitar, he'd grab it and break it.

  • @battybuddy And if you're in Reno, Nevada for the weekend of July 21-23, the Reno Aces AAA Baseball team are going to salute Johnny Cash all weekend and wear special black jerseys for all three games.

  • arent you johnny trash? hahahaha

  • RIP to the legendary Johnny (and June of course). That voice is one of a kind now and forever.

  • @milkmanv1 The dude was awesome- even Oscar agrees, and the world is indeed better having known him.

  • Now THAT'S what I call QUALITY children programing!!! This is what I grew up watching...today's kids watch all sorts of weird crap....no wonder that generation is screwed up!

  • ''Wow, there goes my kind of guy.'' ...We all feel the same Oscar...

  • Sounds kinda like my brother not including a wife! hehehe

  • Puta que o pariu!

  • AWESOME!

  • oscar sounds like hes been hot boxing his trash can a bit to much

  • I'm turning forty this summer. I remember this sketch where Oscar calls him Johnny Trash. Didn't remember the song, though, but that's why we have You Tube! And to think, there are some feckless, spineless, politically-correct, soft-headed slugs out there who think that Sesame Street from the seventies and eighties is no longer appropriate for today's kids. There will never be again such honest, genuine acting at any level thanks to digitized and computerized this and that. Pity.

  • Love it.

  • 2:59 "That was great!" "You like it?" And say - aren't you Johnny Trash?!!" LOLOL!!!

  • Gotta love Johnny Cash's childrens album!

  • hahahah " have a rotten day"

  • nasty great

  • never new johny csh got on sesame

  • awesome voice!

  • Oscar got kissed by Marlee Matlin and got to hang out with Johnny Cash. Is it sad that a puppet is having a better life than I am?

  • @bushbasher85 Yes

  • well well! I don't think Jorma ever got to sing with Oscar

  • @ilovetommykat

Uhm no. This song is explaining a 'meanie' who didn't do nice things, ie take a bath. He ended up getting an OK life.

  • @Gryphon502: Same could be said for Oscar himself. I mean, he has girlfriend Grungetta and pets Slimey & Fluffy to keep him happily miserable.

  • Man. We have to get back to this stuff for our kids.

  • When I remember seeing this was about , oh, 1973 I'd guess. (I lived in Memphis for most of the '70s, but I don't really remember much that happened before '73 or '74.)

  • <3 i love johnny cash... R.I.P :(

  • oscars got good taste :D

  • Oscar : thank you johnny Crash,

    JC : Cash.

    lol

  • This bid has been the major entertainment at my house for the day. Totally brilliant! Nasty Happiness sounds like bliss for Dan and the Family to me...

  • @PO2716

Early 1970s. I can't get more precise than that.

  • @A1l2l2e2n4: 1969, actually. THAT's 40+ years of Sesame Street! XD

  • @TherealRNO could not have been from 69 Because Oscar was Orange in the first season, and Johnny looks to old for it to have been from then.

  • @artfiend71: I know. I was just saying that the Street has been around since 1969. This clip is clearly from the late 70's/early 80's.

  • @A1l2l2e2n4 prob much later than that but guess no later than early 80s. Johnny Looked much younger in the early 70s and wore his hair different. Look at him in the footage from The Johnny Cash Show for reference.

  • Johnny Cash was such a badass! Am I right?

  • @thehcknight: Yep. "The Man in Black" who "Walked The Line" was one of a kind during his era. It speaks volumes if Oscar the Grouch & The Undertaker like his work. Cash is brilliant. Enough said.

  • @TherealRNO

    amen bro

  • @thehcknight: Funny that this song was sung on-the-spot for the show. It was not, prior to this, a Cash staple. ^-^

  • Hey.... What happend to my comment :( it's not highest ranked anymore and it had 144 likes... What tha fuck :/ Guys help me to the top again i'm ready! if you don't belive me just scroll through the comments and you shall see :3

  • You KNOW Johnny Cash is awesome when Oscar the Grouch & The Undertaker are fans of his work. Cash was in class by himself during his time, so he is one of the greatest. The end.

  • THAT WAs AL most to cool for words.Every time I start taking myself to seriously. Im watching this!!!!,

  • i woder if this was before or after he married june

  • johnny cash is bad asssss

  • 13 Nasty Dans missed the like button

  • Johnny Cash FTW!!!

  • I love it how Cash just gruffly says "Have a rotten day." That ended the bit all perfectly.

  • hehe

  • Jr is a legend wonderful

  • Hard to believe this was 31 years ago (1980). Wiki source.

  • @tribeisone

It dates further back than 1980. I remember it from my own childhood, which would place it in the early 1970s.
