The more weed you smoke, the less it changes your percetion of reality. Tell you what, have a month off, then have a cone of chronic and tell me it's not psychadelic.....btw, if you're just a blunt smoker, try punching a bong in one breath, you won't need the month off.....at first.
LSD is more intense and visual, sure, but weed definitely alters sensory perception and gives a feeling of oneness with the universe.
It can change perception sure and it can open your mind BUT my point still stands, weed is not even close to shrooms lsd etc and calling it psychadelic is a stretch

Samual Coleridge, and Andy Warhol were pretty glazed over by their experiences . Norman Mailer's experiment may be to some albeit and/or transient, but that wasn't my take on what he said. I am not proud of my knowledge on the particulars, it's been over 40 years, but I have it all the same.

I am of Mailer's generation, and there was some great stuff back then, but a phycodelic experience? please......Not even reefer laced with Hash would do that for you. He was just stoned. It would have sounded better if he had admitted that he was afraid to drop acid or drink shroom tea. Those two things would make the lights come on....... real bright.
I think you've missed the mark and where you see Mailer "trying to convince" some of "us" that he fit in, I see him merely relating his personal albeit transient experiments with the drug. Don't flatter yourself. I doubt that he had any interest in fitting in to a "culture" which was notorious for mistaking madness for creativity.
