Have a '99 Regal GS- Comp Cam (264/274-.512 lift), intercooled, smaller pulley, ported main body on the S/C, coated SS headers,Magnaflow exhaust (w/SLP cut outs in bumper),Vogtland springs, AGX struts, cop sways,18" Lucerne rims, larger front rotors, Mahle pistons w/plasma moly rings, Milodon oil p/u, a Triple Edge transaxle, and a limited slip diff. It is not the fastest thing out there- but it is pretty quick, handles very well, still rides nice, and gets no extra consideration from the cops.
The beautiful thing about most Regals, they last a long ass time, and you can buy them at a great price. I bought my 98 Regal LS 2 years ago, still going strong. 150k Miles. Love my Buick. Getting it re painted, just don't know which color I should go with.

What are you thinking??? The Regal is a beast of a car. I have a 97' LS. It just hit 250,000 miles. Thats right 250,000! It will probably last at least another 75,000 no problem. Classic old mans car that will whip many newer and far more expensive compact cars ass!
What an Awesome Car!!! This Buick Regal GS Has a Great Acceleration, Very Good For a Medium Size V6, and Much Better Than Those Japanese Cars All of Them SUCK!!!
you should be a columnist man, you basically just convinced me I absolutely NEED one of these soon. I am looking at used cars under 5k as Im 21 and workin a shitty part time job, its either a 99 caddi STS or one of these babies. With the horrid stories I hear of leaks and blown motors , the cadillac just lost its race, in my mind. It lost to your beautiful GS ( your ex-beautiful GS ).
@GodlessMartyr666 I had the choice between a cadillac sts and i went with a 99 Regal GS lol fully loaded, let me tell you .. you wont be missing out on not having a cadillac..
@rwill3 a new gs gets up to 30mpg highway. its just shit gets clogged up i guess.. mine used to get up to 25mpg if i waltzed around town, now im lucky to get 20-21.
i have buick regal ls 3800 II/v6 the maximum speed I've had here in the U.S. is 115mph. I did in Austin Texas. on speed # 3 my car has a back spoiler and an air filter (air intake) when I do well fast is more stable. It has wide wheels for stability. do not change my buick regal 2002. If you want you can see on my facebook ricardolambis@yahoo.es / facebook
same engine then in my impala ss 2004 what a great engine and it has actually more then 240 horsepower GM rated it this way to lower inssurance cost, the engine actually delivers 265 hp on the dyno
When my wife worked for GM, she brought home a Regal GS to test for a few days. At first I was like, "uuggghhhhh....a regal?" Then I drove it. This thing would light up the tires just walking into the throttle on dry pavement and I think even now would surprise lots of cars in the stop light grand prix. As I remember, the gas mileage was pretty good too.
I have a 01 Regal LS that has nearly every option except heated seats and the SC. I averaged 27 mpg about a year ago. But when I switched to synthetic, it went down to around 25. :(
The car had 99,000 when bought in late 07 and so far $2,000 put into it. Recent reports are the intake manifold gasket or plenum will blow out and dump coolant in the crankcase and cylinders trashing the motor. All because of plastic parts instead of steel. Idiots.
Check and compare costs and reviews. I think I'd sooner get the Buick, because it looks better and might have more available parts? There's always the other 3.8 turbos in Pontiac etc.?
Mitsubishi eclipses? Careful what you say, DSM's usually pull some pretty good power. My Eclipse GT? M112 going in with a built 3.6. Hate to admit it'll only make 450whp on stock cams...
oh, i love my buick :D we call it the assassin...i hit three deer in a year and a half with it, and still doin good. 240,000 miles and it still pulls strong. just a good car, comfy and snappy...i think its a pretty damn good sleeper
Hey the Regal is back for 2011, and they're to show the GS "concept" at the Detroit Auto Show. It has a 255hp 295lb-ft Turbo 2.0 4cyl sounds like and odd engine, but its supposed to hit 60 in under 6 seconds. I cant wait.
Nope no B.S The less peppy models should be in showrooms this spring with the sportier one some time later this year, as for the GS, who knows, in all likelihood they will make it, but it probably won't hit the roads till some time next year.
I love these cars I wanted one for a while. My friends told me everyone would laugh at me for having a grandma's car though >:( Well they didn't know how fast they are! I WOULD HAVE LAUGHED if i got one and raced it and left someone in my tred, they wouldn't have been laughing at my grandma's car.
But I got an 04 Grand Prix though It has the series 3 3800 I LOVE IT, i wish it was a gtp though so it'd be supercharged
@Declipse16 yeah i have a 05 GTP but im looking at get a 99 prelude SH i now its a honda but it is capible of the same acceration higher top end and i would get my 5 speed back i hate automatics i cant stand umm but i really do love my GTP
I think the gtp is a lot better looking... I want a 1998 a6 stick shift, has to be a 98, i want a car from the 90's lol. I almost bought one before i got my grand prix... but i like my grand prix more. If I do get one i want one with quattro for winter, and i'm not selling my grand prix if i decide to buy one either lol
I'm sorry. . . everyone is entitled to their opinion and I honor yours, but I can't help recalling and laughing at the review C&D did of the Regal where their verdict was that it "Redefined understeer" and it came in dead last of all its competitors.
Whatever, though. If you liked it, more power to you to express it.
i have a 96 regal GS(the last year without the supercharger) but it has the series 2
3.8L V6. it's not supercharged but it has 35 more horsepower than the 91-95 Regal 3800. It's a great car. I just had it painted recently by Maaco. It has 155K miles.

27.4 psi of boost....How you come up with that number? Lucky if that blower stock puts out 6psi.

Didn't know that SC was an option on the LS. That's new to me.
mmz77 2 years ago
Than that WOULD be a GS. The 2001 Olympic models were GS.
I said I have nearly every option a GS has except the SC and the heated seats and fold down arm rest...and?
I like the ones with the rear spoiler with the brake light better. ....Especially black.
The only thing missing on mine was low miles, a certification and a warranty. :(
aleon1018 2 years ago
I'm probably going to get either a Buick Regal GS soon or a 92-95 Taurus SHO 5 speed. Both are very cool cars.
