@B5starfurry no doubt. A lot of people thought it wasn't even related to final fantasy. Myself, I think it gave origin to how it all started. It was thought that the meteorite was the carrier of phantoms from another planet, but if you remember, they were also phantoms from earth that the meteorite brought into existence. The meteorite was always the key the whole time. Just like it's impact history was in many of the game's series. FF7 made a history about it. and ff12
I think what shot this film in the foot was tagging the Final Fantasy name on it. Fans of the series were expecting something more like Advent Children and were disappointed when it wasn't, and people who might have enjoyed it ordinarily might have avoided it because they thought it was some videogame spinoff. Which is a shame, because personally I think it was a great film.
Did you know that Aki Ross was one of the most complex CGI characters to render? She had over 100,000 polygons to make up her whole body, and each of her hairs were rendered in real time animations (She had roughly 60,000 strands of hair). That's pretty detailed for 2001...
@smoogirl lol you mean knew what my post meant? Well in a nutshell, I said that Aki Ross was one of the most complex characters to render, and still complex to this day, since 2001. lol
@MechWarrior324 Aye, but the whole ohm.. 'polygon' :P I heard it at the WoW con this year, still got me confused haha... baisically they are lii specks of light, all bunched together aye ?
@smoogirl Actually those are pixels, polygons are shapes that make up a 3D object. Have you seen wire-frame images of 3D animations while they are being developed and are unfinished? All the little squares and triangles and whatnot that make that frame up are polygons.
Whenever anybody badmouths this film that's one of the points I bring up. The graphics in the whole movie are great for today, not to mention a decade ago. There are several scenes where the grandfatherly scientist character, I forget his name off the top of my head, could easily be mistaken for a real human.
Not to mention the entertaining plot and characters, or any of its other merits.
@0ua8 I also didn't understand why this film lost so much money. I think it cost about 140 million to make and made back about half at the box office. I thought the film was a video game movie and didn't see it till it was long on DVD. After seeing it I was blown away, a all star cast, stunning visuals, a great storyline that actually made sense based on the info you are given thru the film. Loved all the characters, I never though I could feel for a CG person till this film.
Pretty good I like this movie and the song :) Thanks for posting

@LittleBigSnerky Completely agree. I love the movie for itself, not the game reference.
