i feel like recommending sol niger within to my guitar instructor who's a fusion guitarist, but he usually dismisses metal =(

Well, start him off with Missing Time and Zeta 1 reticuli, then gradually introduce him to the rest and let him know that he needs to keep his ears open just a little bit longer to absorb what all music has to offer! I listen to stuff from Ella Fitzgerald to, well, Sol Niger Within and it's all great!
