haha Listen to my Horrible funny story. On day i was dancing in front of a mirrior, listen to my radio. i heard this song & immeditily feel in love. So i tryed to find it but i forgot the lyrics. All i could hear in my head was "dadada as i was walking". I look everywhere(SERIOUSLY) yahoo,ask.com, ect.. & nothing show. I would hear it everynow again but i could never hear the lyrics. So oneday(1yearlater) i was watching t.v a car commercial come on with her song i hurried & jump on my computer

Vega wrote the song based on a comment by her friend Brian Rose, a photographer, who mentioned that in his work, he sometimes felt as if "he saw his whole life through a pane of glass, and [...] like he was the witness to a lot of things, but was never really involved in them."

she wrote this song in "Tom's restaurant" in new york, and it has actually been tracked to the exact day and time when she wrote it. They tracked it by finding the diner, and the newspaper she was reading that day showed that William Holden had died while drunk from falling from his balcony. The date was Nov 16, 1981, though the post she was reading did not report this till nov 18 Also, the day was not rainy, but overcast, and Vega said she was only remebering it from an earlier time.
