This will not work if you have windows on your garage door. They could just smash the window, cut the zip tie and pull down the rope arm. I cut my metal rop arm off with a dremel, leving just a little bit of surface area for channel locks in case I need to use it.
@Hilljill1000 Power outage scenarios are rare, zip ties can be purchased @ Home Depot for as little as $2.97/(10-Pack) of 8 in. Releasable 50 Lb Tensil Strength Cable Tie which remains unnoticeable & is far less inexpensive than $45 + s/h
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to cut a zip tie. If you can't cut a zip to during a power outage, you have far greater problems on you hands than your garage door.

With that zip tie attached you will not be able to release the Emergecy Release Lever when there is a power outage.
With "The Garage Shield" that will never be a problem.
THEGARAGESHIELDCOM It is really easy to install and is inexpensive!
