  • Good point about the Grade 2 kids who their entire life have grown up in a nation at war, and never knowing what it is to be living in a peaceful country.

  • Where are all these new fiscally responsible conservatives and Tea Party activists. They should be screaming for a War surtax. What gives, Tea Party?

  • @DojoNDude As far as I know the tea party are made up of mostly true conservatives, which would mean they would be against interventionist policies, and therefore against the war entirely. Grayson had it right. We've paid enough, bring them home.

  • @WheresBraveheart I would be surprised if the elected TP reps proposed any legislation that wasn't blatantly pro-corporate. Their first order of business should be returning our corporations from China. If they introduce such legislation, I will mail you $50 and an apology. LOL. I feel pretty darn safe making that offer.

  • Totally agree with this guy. Now I agree with two of his ideas. The first is auditing the federal reserve. This war is just a way for our country to fall further into economic collapse.

  • Of course the Constitution envisaged the possibility of a standing army, and a standing army standing in another country. There are only about 5 different checks that are built in to prevent it; it's just that we can't get our worthless "representatives" (in any of the branches) to use those checks to stop this bullsh*t.

I like Grayson, but he's too liberal socially for my taste. Having said that, I'd vote for him because no one else has a clue.

  • What's wrong with being a social liberal. Individual rights, getting the government out of our personal lives. That's what America was supposed to be about.

  • We send out a questionnaire to every adult in America asking their views on war and whether we should stay at war in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and start new ones is Yemen, Iran, and everywhere else where there MIGHT be someone who doesn't have the same CLAIM to the "Christian Beliefs" of the right wingers.

Then tax those who want endless war 25 percent of their income and those who don't 2 percent, just because the troops still need support regardless how they got there in the first place.

  • Politicians know exactly what they're doing. They are trying to bankrupt the US to create a new global government called the New World Order. YouTube it.

  • yea, H.W. Bush talked about it also, he is on youtube saying it.

  • your congressman is nuts

  • @diamonddave514 yes, yes he is.. sorry america

  • I love what this guy says about war and the Federal Reserve, but I can't get over his awful, progressive economic ideas.

  • right, because conservatism>progressive always, and has been shown time and time again throughout history.

*looks at the history of conservative groups*

    owait-

  • The U. S. Constitution also doesn't say anything about Christanic terrorism and yet the United States is the world's worse Christianic terrorist State.

The "School of the Americas" is the world's worse terrorist training camp bar none.

  • It's so far past time to bring our troops home. They never should have been deployed into either Iraq or Iran. America doesn't need to be involved in other Nation's problems. As a matter of fact, our policing the world is crippling our own Nation. Think of all of the families and friends have been lost so that the Fed can print out fictatious money to loan out at interest to support these wars, and for oil pipelines. The real terrorists reside in Washington D.C. ... ChaChing, ChaChing.

  • @57girl

The bottom line is profiteering on war. They don't care if they even win.

    Yes girl you are right!

  • @1m2rich As General Smedley D. Butler said:

    "War is a racket."

  • @jpschubbs

    Smedley Butler FTW!

    ___

"Let the officers & high-powered executives who profit in war time; the bankers, speculators, generals, admirals, officers, & all government office holders – be restricted to a total monthly income not to exceed that paid to the soldier in the trenches. Why shouldn't they? They aren't running any risk of being killed or of having their bodies mangled or their minds shattered. The soldiers are!" - Major General Smedley Butler, USMC

  • @57girl Iran?

  • Grayson's OK...I think he gets a bit confused politically at times. Like supporting the constitution when it matches his agenda but tossing it out the window when it doesn't. Overall I think he has good intentions but is simply misguided. He doesn't understand that he is now part of a failing institution that has no hope of change whether a Democrat or Republican is in office. He's bright enough to learn it though...then question is what will he do then?

  • But, he's got the confidence that Democrats love and Republicans love to hate. Whatever gets people talking about Afghanistan can't be all bad.

  • This is all just a smokescreen. The real problem is the outsourcing of our economy to CHINA and it started with the Clinton administration and they just keep on doing it like no one knows.

  • You have a "standing army" in an illegal war.. TWO of them in fact. I didn't see your sorry asses declare war either. So yeah, read the Constitution bumblehead Grayson and learn your f'ing place. It's NOT your place to tread all over the Constitution and then act like WE didn't read it while you wave it around in the air. It's 14 f'ing pages! Now compare THAT with your incomprehensible 2000+ pg. crap you've been trying to pass.

I swear to God, FIRE all these assholes NOW!!!

  • GOOD MAN! Grayson is one of the few decent people left in Washington besides Ron Paul. We should make sure they are the only ones to be reelected. This occupation is illegal and immoral. People are signing up to go die in Afghanistan & Iraq for a banksters' war. The men & women making money from defense & oil contracts are truly EVIL! Their money is BLOOD MONEY!

  • The Constitution Didn't Contemplate FORCING PEOPLE TO BUY HEALTH INS ETHER....just ask a jahova witness.....

  • doctors didnt make 1m+ a year when the constitution was written either. health def. wasnt 1.6 of our economy either. health insurance companies also didnt charge you 500/mo. to see a ahealth care professional either.

just shut up already you annoying people. yer being forced to buy health insurance. enjoy your higher taxes (even tho your income will actually be higher now that you wonthave to pay a rediculous ins. premium that funds CEOs jets)

  • and i take that statement back about being forced to buy health insurance. no where in any of the bills being proposed do they say you HAVE to buy anything.

theyre making a public health insurance that you can choose to save money on by buying or continue u pay out the ass to blue cross blue shield and all the other crooks.

thank god i can finally go to the doctors wooooo

  • right on bro...Grayson doesn't see his own hypocrisy...but he's bright so he may come around...

  • Ron Paul supports right wing terror militias. Nuff said.

  • Rep. Alan Grayson is the man willing to put his life on the line for Americans. I think there are only 3 Congress persons that has this courage, the rest are just worthless memes. Americans that understands the FED is looting Americans and is Americas down fall have your back Mr. Grayson, but beware of this most corrupt crime organization called the Federal Reserve. They have a shady past and I dont trust them. Every time you grill Ben his voice cracks and he sounds like he going to cry

  • Ron Paul/ Alan Grayson 2012

  • nice well reasoned, contemplative argument...oh wait, u typed an irrational hissyfit in the form of a youtube comment...

if his opponents argue like you, grayson wont have much of a problem getting re-elected...

  • aw. whats the matter? did that one strike too close to home? i was making an observation not an argument. my argument would be: how could anyone listen to this radical asshole's opinions? no matter what side of the isle youre on, he is a fruitbag that does nothing but put on hollywood theatrics to appease a lesser audience. in american politics today, its better to be a rockstar than an actual knowledgable advocate for the people. what has this assclown brought to the table besides that?

  • no, im not the one who had a hissyfit over a youtube video...

This "assclown" is doing two things i like. Advocating for health care reform. And advocating for an audit of the Federal Reserve...

And btw, ur 2nd attempt wasnt an argument either...

  • oh because all the other assholes in washington are REALLY getting shit done ...its the same shit every year higher taxes and nothing gets done get back in the pasture like a good gov sheep would jackass

  • who cares about the rest of it he wants to take on the fed and thats a win win the rest of his views are just that views

  • To Schwochert: Your statement is an indication of your level of intellect or lack thereof.

I won't even go into details about the topic because it will be futile and only end up in pointless arguing and derogative name calling.

From the bottom of my heart, I suggest you do your homework about this person (and people like him) and his ideals. Then come back and comment.

  • and what exactly would that "homework" teach me? please enlighten me. i know what his ideals are- to feed off the backs of scumbags like you that will actually give him a name he is undeserving of. i could give a fuck less to read his autobiography in 5 years this spineless scum will be long forgotten. seriously, you really want this ashole to be your leader? you actually think what he does "shows he has balls"? please! youre seriously over exaggerating this guy's talents! (and his balls!)

  • cant believe his first argument is that they spent to much on it. i do agree, that is a valid point, but the fact he was for the 1 trillion dollar healthcare bill, bailouts. he is complaining about them spending 3 trillion in 9 years when. he has supported enough bills to easily surpass the 3 trillion mark in less then 1 year.

  • ''but the fact he was for the 1 trillion dollar healthcare bill,''

The bill currently up in the Senate is not ''1 trillion'', amd even so it has to pass and be worked together with the House bill before there's a final estimate. After that it would be payed for in a period of ten years, not "1 year''. Also. Grayson voted against the bailouts.

  • i just looked his voting records and yes he sure did vote for the 09 bailout he wasn't in congress during the bush bailout. also that is an estimate of how much the healthcare is and i expect the bill to rise exceptionally if it passes. if you want to check my source id be glad to show the site

  • Well, I stand corrected on that point.

  • @zakattak80 - stop getting your talking points from Fake news. The healthcare bill is 1 trillion over 10 years. Not three trillion over 9. And The healthcare bill reduces the deficit over those 10 years in spite of its cost. These wars are money wasted played off the books and the cost will be way greater than 3 trillion when you factor in VA costs for our veterans. The only beneficiaries of this war are Blackwater and Halliburton and other defense contractors.

  • i'm against the war at this point. so your wasting time on that point. i have heard that deduction claim but yet i can't find anything explaining how that is possible. at least not a way that makes sense. could you enlightened me please?

  • show me the money!

  • End the war!

Or itemize war tax like sales tax, show each and every person the $ cost to them.

  • What we should do about the cost of the war is the same thing that the Republicans did: put it on the deficit.

And then when we finally DO get out of Iraq and Afghanistan, then we raise taxes on the rich and have THEM pay it back.

  • I like what this guy says. That's all I know.

  • UGH! He has 5 children? That means someone had sex with him 5 times. And there are 5 more indoctrinated neanderthals that my kid will have to beat up.

  • There are some Representatives on BOTH sides of the aisle that are starting to grow a set and are going against the grain of the "Business as Usual" mentality in Washington. I'm kinda liking it. Maybe some of these Repubs and Dems are finally starting to actually hear the people.

  • He sounds like Ron Paul but don't let him sell you on his other ideas! This guy is doing good against the Fed and the war, so my hat is off to you Mr. Grayson. Some matters are common sense and I am happy to see this guy support them.

    Peace

  • Obama did announce that he is ending the war in Afghanistan, tonight. He announced a timetable for its end. After spending 3 trillion dollars on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, an extra 100 billion (3%) is not going to make all that much difference.

  • The Pentagon wastes most of its budget on useless hardware and welfare handouts to Lockheed, Blackwater, Halliburton, and KBR, amongst others.

Ironically the Pentagon is the ultimate embodiment of the "expanding wasteful big government " which Republicans claim to oppose.

  • Rep. Grayson is so bi-polar, I don't know what to make of him anymore. It's like he's a Libertarian-Communist... Invokes the Constitution to berate Bernanke (he deserved it), then ignores it to pass Healthcare, then invokes it again to rightfully declare the wars must end. I have a premise wrong somewhere on this guy, I can't identify. Maybe this isn't a Constitutional issue for him, as it's been labeled here. Maybe he has to end it to pay for and backfill healthcare and deficits?

  • don't vote republican or democrat in 2012 folks let's tell washington we really want change. starting with the corrupt republican and democratic parties. i would vote for grayson though if he ran for president. he seems to be one of the few in congress actually working for the people he represents...

  • hellshade2 - indeed! The Republicrats vs Dempublicans paradigm is dead!

  • But there are some on both sides of the Isle that don't follow what Republicrats\Dempublicans have become.

  • How about we wait to see who's on the ballet & vote for the person who's Qualified for the job. Let's not decide which party we're voting for before they announce they're nominee.

  • all the money being spent in iraq and afghanistan would be funding healthcare right now. does anyone else busides me realise how fucked up things are. all the people screaming about what healthcare is going to cost are the same ones that have no problem giving a blank check for these wars...

  • Wrong, Many are against both the Welfare & Warfare Big Government

  • Where were you when Bush started these wars and passed out the Medicare prescription drug benefit? And where were you when Bush started bailing out banks and passing out tax cuts? Where were you when they poured money into Katrina victimized areas with nothing to show for it but some death trap trailers and some tarped over roofs?

  • why do you think the republican party has fallen apart since the the election. cause people don't trust the republican party much of this is because of bush. secondly we shouldn't spend trillion of dollars for any bill at this point. we are playing with fire with all of this money printing,

  • Asleep........Where are you now that Obama is continuing what Bush Started? continuing bad policies is not Change. Bush ran on smaller Government & no nation building but did the opposite, once I saw him for who he was, I supported Ron Paul. Obama & McCain both supported the Bank Bailout.

  • @davidpark68 - Obama didn't run on small gov't - he openly said TAX THE RICH. Though I will admit I'm still waiting on that proposal.

However, I'm not dumb enough to say that we should deny healthcare coverage to our own citizens because we are spending too much money paying for illegal wars. Like it or not, the sick will get treated in the most expensive and inefficient way possible - emergency rooms. It's is ludicrous to continue this practice rather than provide preventive care.

  • Understood, I was stating that I voted for Bush because he supported a smaller Government.

Obama will Never tax the rich, he knows who butters his bread.

Emergency rooms treat the symptoms, not provide a cure. if you have cancer & go to the emergency room they will treat your pain not your cancer.

  • Here's the Definition of Neocon: political philosophy which supports using American economic and military power to bring liberalism, democracy, and human rights to other countries. In economics neoconservatives are generally comfortable with a welfare state; and, while rhetorically supportive of free markets, they are willing to interfere for overriding social purposes.

    Sound Familiar?

    We're STILL being Neoconned!

  • power of the purse. cut the funds

  • God Bless You, Rep. Grayson! Keep up the good fight! I'm with you all the way.

  • great interview Mr. Grayson

  • Obama left his base the moment he started to campaign. I doubt he will be re-elected.

  • LOL, pull out of these wars? I guess nobody knows history, including Mr. Grayson. WE ALWAYS GO TO WAR WHEN THE ECONOMY TANKS BIG TIME. Iraq and Afgahnistan are not big enough. Get ready for Iran...you'll be drafted.

  • Ed, obama promised to keep his eye on the mission in Afghanistan. Remember. He did campaign on it

  • Get out of this stupid war. Enough.

  • Obama is fucking right wing as hell

  • He is a neofascist like Bush.

  • You've been Neoconned, There's No difference between the parties because they are Pawns in the Bankers\Corporations Games. welcome to Fascism.

  • Obama Promise To End The War, 2007 - "You Can Take That To The Bank"

    /watch?v=4LsSppYxSHk

  • Are you an intern at Fake News? He was talking about IRAQ not Afghanistan. Nice job creating your own alternate reality.

  • war is war, both these wars are wars on "terror". there is one war in different locations. and if you wanna get down to it the war in iraq is still going on. you have troops there, he hasn't ended the war, your country has built an empire at the barrel of a gun. you have hundreds of military bases in countries all over the world to keep this empire. your government is the TERRORIST. how many times does the cia have to get caught smuggling drugs and arms before you start to question??????

  • and to add osama bin laden aka tim osman worked for the cia up to the day of 911.

  • I voted for a man who said "he would bring CHANGE," another lie....

    Unless you get Goverment Assistants...

Not A Damn thing has Changed......

Still at War, Middle Class still working our asses off to help pay for " Change." Thank you! Mr Obama for another Bleak Christmas............

  • I'm proud to have Alan Grayson as my congressman!!!

  • So I wonder what Grayson's comments will be when his President sends more troops, he is not going to pull back...the soldiers will go his mind will not be changed, will he makes some kind of smart ass comments like he would if it were a Republican President.

  • President Obama would love to act on his ideals. But apparently, Fox News set up camp in his head and he's not strong enough to fight back. Only socialists would pull out of Afghanistan before going completely broke.... right? The sad part is that most celebs will still support him in 2012, nobody with enough money will challenge him in the Democratic primary, and the Republicans will run Sarah Palin. Looks like 7 more years of a president scared to act on his ideals.

  • I hear you, couldn't put it better myself. President Obama is bowing down to the Republican Party and doing their work, through a Democratic name. He talks a good talk, but can't walk the walk. He's let me down so far. I don't want my son growing up, thinking America's only solution to everything go to war. So far, he has shown to be weak to criticism and has tried to impress the Republican party, by going on what McCain was talkinga about the whole election, a surge in Afghanistan. He sold out.

  • @adrya1983 it has nothing to do with party lines get out of that mind set, your trap in the politics of the 80's, there is one party, thats the people who's best interest involve extending the wars as long as possible because they make billions of dollar from it, do you think haliburton would purposely do something to extend the war if it was going to lose 80 billion in revenue if it didnt? the people in congress sold out along time ago, an no one is listening not all but most are crooks

  • I have to agree with you. Their needs to be some regulation on these politicians, because the make more money off lobbyist and instead of helping the people, they fill their pockets and become tools for the rich. Lobbying should be against the law. I hope something is done before the country goes down the drain. These politicians hurt more people with their decisions than they know. Both Republicans and Democrats have let me down. As a real democrat, it's sad to see the poor suffer, 4 politics.

  • I suggest getting rid of the government instead of regulating. Regulations always get overlooked when it benefits power and money anyway. It seems to me that any time you give a group the power to write laws and use force to enforce them, they will eventually use it for their own personal gain and there is nothing you or I can do about it but beg that very system for help.

  • @tarossi400 - Wow. Get rid of regulation? Just look at the recent contamination scares in China. Tainted baby milk, tainted dry wall, lead paint in toys, poison dumped in to the water and people fishing in it and serving up the diseased fish, fake pharmaceuticals. That is what our society would look like w/o regulation.

  • Just look at the current financial crisis to see how well regulations work. They're only enforced on people who don't have money and political influence. If it weren't for the government protecting these people, they would have gone out of business, the public would become much more aware and responsible, problem solved. Instead, we get a false sense of security and quite often the rules are setup to protect certain people or businesses to the detriment of competitors, especially newcomers.

  • Get rid of the legitimate use of force and you solve a lot of these problems.

Do you think the US doesn't already have regulations covering these items you've mentioned? I'll bet big bucks that they do and yet they still get here. The government clearly didn't save anybody from anything here. Having it splashed all over the news and calling business owners and citizens attention to it did though.

People generally don't want to use tainted stuff or maybe they do due to price. It's up to you.

  • @miguelin97223 no he will not get reelected watch, he has never had any intention of pulling out of Afghanistan even though thats what he campaigned for, we need people in washington who dont lie, who cares what they look like, ron paul should of been president but to many ppl in this country are racist bigots and are in love with the idea of a black president who says he is going to bring change, which is exactly what THEY wanted stupid sheep to follow him, now theyre all mad cause he lied?

  • He said during the election that he would increase the number of troops in Afghanistan so it's not really a lie in that case.

''to many ppl in this country are racist bigots''

No, I think people were so fatigued from George Bush that Obama's ties to Bush's policies were allowed to fly under the radar becdause people thought he would be progressive. It's because our political compass has become so skewed that Obama is considered progressive when he's not.

  • a lot of people just think it's ironic that the first non white president of the united states is being blamed for not waving a magic wand over so many incredibly difficult situations... it wasn't his fault... and it's his job to fix it but it's extremely obvious that many people are using this time as a chance to further there own selfish agendas... that can NOT be overlooked and needs to be exposed to the fullest extent.

  • *their

  • You can't claim he's trying to fix things when he carries on all the same policies as the last administration. He's become an apologist for the things he vowed to change. What this points out to me is that the president is just a front man for whatever agenda the moneyed people behind the scenes want carried out and looking to a politician to change any of this mess is futile.

  • I agree 100%.

  • LOL... one second u say he has the same policies as bush and the next u say he's an "apologist"... hilarious... bush was too stupid to understand diplomacy... that's what it's called. not weakness or apologizing etc... and LMFAO @ thinking bowing to japanese royalty is a sign of weakness... WOW... just WOW... the ignorance in this country never ceases to astound me...

  • I'm thinking you should probably look up the word "apologist" in the dictionary. You have misunderstood the point.

  • i don't think i need to do that

  • Bla bla bla. Obama is another puppet of the federal reserve and all the corporations associated with the it.

  • the fed needs to be fixed... i agree with you on that... 100%

but it's not as simple as that is all i'm saying...

  • It is that simple, but its hard to accept the governmental system is so corrupt.

  • he can't just wave his hand and fix everything thats been wrong with this country in his first year... thats ridiculous... it's time for people to start fully understanding the role of government in this country and change it for the better from the bottom up.... in a positive way... through education not reckless, ignorant "tea party" like outbursts funded and fueled by corporations with vested interests...

  • What is the proper role of government?

  • I think it's role should be to NEVER be allowed to be manipulated by corporations that can outbalance the real majority or the overall "good" of the country and somehow find a median on adhering to overall public opinion on the issues that effect us all... there should be mandatory in depth education on how our government works at an elementary age and make it a PRIORITY to make every aspect of the political transparent...

  • **meant to say political ecosystem

  • every vote on record and every contribution explained and available to the public.

  • a lot of people in our country need to get their heads out of their asses and work toward positive change not just monetary gain...

  • Ron Paul didn't Get the nomination because the Media Shut him out & actually laughed at him when he was saying the economy was going to collapse. after Ron withdrew, the media had him all over on the news wanting to talk about the economic collapse, Little too Little & a Little too late on his coverage. Even if he lost the election to Obama it would have been a different Campaign. the Economy & the fed would have been top Priority, the first Bank Bail out wouldn't have happened.

  • Racism had nothing to do with it because Ron Paul Didn't win the Republican Primaries Quite frankly Racism had nothing to do with McCain not winning Either, McCain would have been another Bush & the People were Tired of Being Neoconned. Well we got Neoconned anyway.

  • Mr.Grayson, i honestly think that will be the last time they let you on MSNBC

Reason being i dont think you agreed with the war, which most mass media is trying to push for

You did the right thing sir, stand on the right side of history and history will approve of you and your effort

Thank you sir for speaking out, you are a credit to your country and to the American Flag

I wish you peace of mind and the courage to keep on going, again thank you very much

  • We are all between a rock and a hard place. We do not have the resources to fight the full global war against radical Islam (that is what we're doing whether of not you can conceive of it). We do not have the domestic resources to provide for our commitments in the USA.

There is a hard consequence coming where we collapse into a third world country. I wish it weren't true.

    We're Screwed!!

  • I agree with you on 1 thing,

    Your screwed :)

  • Look at the Value of the Dollar. Unless your using a different currency, We're Screwed. Regardless where you get your money from, what it will buy is what counts.

  • Thats just it i dont use dollars :)

Thats why i said your screwed not we're screwed.

  • Ahhhh, You follow the wise teachings of Austrian economics, a fellow Pauler. Bad News, we're still semi screwed but nowhere near as bad as those who hold the dollar. we still need to convert our holdings to dollars (or whatever currency we end up going to) for liquidity. ;-)

  • I by no means am a capitalist, i am a staunch Communist, but no one knows capitalism better than the old traditional capitalists like Ron Paul, so i listen to him cause he makes sense, but of course i dont believe that capitalism is the best system.

I do not live in America, that is by far to dangerous haha, no need to live on a sinking boat :)

  • @MopacMurtaza

They aren't Capitalists or Communists, etc.. They are thugs, robbers, murderers, and liars...traitors. An oligarchy of gangs.

  • Yeah i know, power is what they want.

  • poor grayson...the decision has already been made to send 30k troops in Afg. ...i hope he votes for the taxing tho....he has no other choice :/

  • I like Grayson but now he is starting to sound like a lot of other politicians...just looking for another chance to get in a one liner.

The constitution didnt contemplate a standing army...yeah, it also didnt contemplate the right to free speech but that right was added to it later via the bill of rights.

STFU about the original constitution already, even the men that wrote it didnt think it was good enough and amended it for fucks sake.

  • the process of amending the constitution is part of the constitution.

there has never been an amendment to fight undeclared wars. neither iraq nor afghanistan have been declared as the constitution requires it.

  • well as he said, the constitution didnt contemplate a standing army...

  • Nice but still just nice sounding words sir. I have a small one bedroom apartment. A girlfriend and a one month old baby life with me. I barley make enough money to pay my bills. I can not take any more financial strain.

  • You know my heart goes out to you, Its unbearable to hear that. I hope you guys find a good job, soo you can live a better life. I also heard that 1 in 8 Americans its on food stamps. All your tax-money are spent on War for corrupt countries. That should make anyone angry. 1 Soldier costs 1 million. then add that up. to 30.000 soldiers
  • A war lottery (a voluntary tax), coupled with an ongoing issue of war bonds (tax-free, of course), independent of a moderate budget for a defensive standing armed force, would serve as a check-rein on future wars of adventure or aggrandizement.

So... if it's not strictly defensive in nature, and/or there's no lottery/bond budget for it... nobody goes anywhere.

  • Okay, so I agree with Grayson on monetary policy and foreign policy.

By the way, Mr. Grayson, if you read these comments, these lines you keep coming up with are great.

  • Grayson 2012

  • America hasn't been at "peace" since the first world war and our entry into entangling alliances with Europe.

  • Grayson is awesome. =)

It's fools who concern most of their time with the 'parties' and the 'left-right paradigm'. That's an endless media circus which is a distraction. Television isn't going to focus much on the real and most threatening issues effecting us.

More people everyday are getting wise to the fact that it's the greedy elite who are victimizing the middle/poor classes which they've shoved us into. They distract and weaken us through the schools, bills, tv, food, drugs, etc.

  • Get our men and women out of Afghanistan now. They are dying for nothing.

  • I have to disagree with Rep.Grayson here - a "war tax" on everyone (but most esp. upon the rich) would be the antidote to this nonsense. The whole war would be DONE. Indeed, it would be a great boon for peace if all military actions had to be funded by emergency taxes, and not deficit spending.

  • get the freak out!!!

  • An age and income progressive war surtax would be phenomenal for impressing upon the generations in power that the costs of their malfeasant era cannot be quantified in "democracy spread" or "freedom," but the economic enslavement imposed on future generations to promote failed wars and an artificially high standard of living CAN be measured in our depreciating dollars (i.e. deficit)

  • To be honest.. I was one of the many millions who had high hopes for Obama, but the man hasn't done anything about the real important issues. Don't think he's gonna this time either.

Unless he wakes up an acts as the man who ran for presidency, he's gonna be yet another american president who issapointed the world and the people who believed in him.

Keep it up Grayson. Someone has to fight the good fight.

  • You guys are not talking loud enough,

Its first time, I see a great amount of americans standing up against the war.

    Its good to see that,

The people Obama are surrounded with,

are some of them, still the same

    from Cheney/Bush era.

Republicans would never elect you Obama,

You could care less about what they say.

But I think you guys are being a bit unfair, to Obama

in his campaign he never said he will pull the troops out of Afghanistan.

  • obama said himself if he was elected the first thing he would do is end the war

    /watch?v=4LsSppYxSHk

im irish and i knew this. come on america the rest of the world is waiting for you to stop this madness.

  • I donated for obambi.

    I voted for obambi.

    I'm more or less done.

Grayson should run a primary for President in 2012.

Grayson has my vote in New York.

  • Yeah I love Grayson his a great guy, and a guy you can believe in. But isnt it scary to think, that the people who say all politicians are the same, are gaining the momentum now. Imagine if Grayson became President and did the same as Obama. But if you donated and voted for Obama didnt you hear he was against the Iraq War but not The Afghanistan war. You should have known that.
  • Yeah sadly I remember.

Hell he said he expand into Pakistan!

But it is not just the wars it is the banks too.

What really amazing we've got a bunch of ditto head losers thinking this guys a socialist!

He slightly to the right of Reagan!

Well I'll console myself knowing he likely better than mccain and palin.

  • Military strategies says little about his left/right economic persuasion,

  • To be fair, he said in the campaign

that he was for the Afghanistan war.

I cant even imagine how the republicans would reacted, if he said he will pull the troops out of Afghanistan,

I think they might kill him :-S

  • They would react the same way they did when he told children to stay in school. With outrage.

    Fuck thise old dumb asses.

I flushed the grumpy old peoples party awhile ago.

    I'm a registered republican BTW.

    I'm not joking.

  • Oh really a registered republican,

I always had this question for republicans.

    And I honestly didnt understood.

why Republicans were for the war on Iraq,

    It didnt help any Americans,

    Spending that amount of money

for "peace and democracy" to Iraqi´s

Why arent you guys selfish and use that amount of money, to health care for you and your neighbor, instead of helping out

Iraqis who hates you anyway, and blow themselves up-

  • I wasn't for Iraq.

    Why they others were?

Well to be blunt they are dumb asses.

    They are good Germans.

    They are stupid.

It is as bad as you think it is.

    They have no critical thought.

  • I love how Grayson loves to use the constitution when its convenient for himself. A govt run healthcare is not in the constitution. We should be a free market economy and we are not, thus crony capitalism.

  • Simply because it is not in there doesn't mean it can not exist..

The Air Force is not in it either should we trash all the planes?

  • the constitution enumerates the rights the federal government has. national defense is in there.

a national health care system is unconstitutional. if you want to have it, amend the constitution.

  • Right in the part that talks about common defense it also talks about providing for general welfare.

  • I see. so the way you're interpreting "general welfare" (read abotu it, major disagreements) the congress can do whatever it wants.

why again do we have a constitution?

    all that words.

they should have just written "the congress shall do whatever the fuck it wants".

  • Wrong. "General welfare" simply has a broad meaning. Providing an insurance plan is not "the congress doing whatever the fuck it wants". The idea that we should settle for a poorer helathcare system than other first world nations based on certain interpretations is ridiculous.

  • so why don't you amend the constitution to clear things up?

the constitutions of many other "first world nations" do allow such interventions.

and while you're at it you can get rid of the other stuff congress is ignoring.

no wars without a declaration, gold and silver as legal tender, limitations of power, habeus corpus, no searches without a warrant, all that outdated nonsense...

  • I agree an amendment would probably be the wisest way to go about it.

  • @aunicornist so you want the shitty health care plan they want to shove own are throats? it is common knowledge the founders hated big government all except one and the rest of them hated the guy, anyway i know washington and jefferson would be rolling over in there graves if this stupid thing passes. i want you to go find me an example on a large scale when government got involved and it ended up being a good thing and made money.

  • '' i want you to go find me an example on a large scale when government got involved and it ended up being a good thing''

Look up the French health care system.

  • Police Department Fire Department Libraries Schools VA Hospitals EMS System 911 System Interstate Highways National Parks Just to name a few. They all have thier issues, but can you imagine if we let these areas regulate and provide for themselves? To think gov't can fix everything is stupid. But so is thinking gov't should not step in when people are dying in the streets like dogs while insurance companies pad their pockets. BTW look up the Canadian system.
  • I agree 100%

  • Most of those systems are run by local/state governments where the people have a better ability to petition their government.

Once something is under the power of the Federal gov't, not only do we have very little say anymore, but it almost inevitably grows larger, more corrupt and less efficient.

Is education better in this country since Carter established the ED in 1979? Or is it worse?

Is education in this country better since Bush expanded the ED in 2003 or is it worse?

  • Some of the systems I mentioned are state/local and some are federal.

It is true that in the US, education has been on the decline for decades now.

My point simply is that saying everything the gov't does is corrupt and innefficient is nonsense. People use this arguement to justify letting people die, loose their life savings, suffer in pain, etc.

Sometimes the gov't needs to step in and help. I don't see people returning their Social Security checks. Do you?

  • Speaking of Social Security, it's unsustainable. It's a nice idea in theory, but it also gets people to rely on a government program that can be pulled out from underneath them.

I admit though, in my little fantasy world the D's and R's are debating social security and health care rather than debating how many of our soldiers they will send to the meat grinders in the Middle East.

These fluff issues only distract us from the evil BS they do with our money. Yet another argument for small gov't.

  • Indeed it is. Social Security was a scam at conception. It's funny how Social Security reform was an issue in Congress, yet they use that money to fund our war in the middle east. Hmm...

  • Excellent point, Ranger.

  • I am not for SS either. Just pointing out people want certain help from gov't, but when others need help it's Fuck Them, Not My Problem.

  • I don't disagree. All I have been saying is the oppositions answer is let there be business as usual with the insurance companies under the guise of limited government.

The same people claiming the issue is small gov't supported Bush. Bush expanded gov't more that probably any other administration in history.

For example, Cheney actually used to say he ran the senate and voted on important issues. WTF? Ever heard of checks and balances? It's rediculous!

  • Our poor education system is not a matter of big or small government. Afterall look at all the other countries that have good public education. The problem is, our school system was started on the wrong premise in the beginning. They aren't even about education, they're all about teaching kids to conform to societal standards and keeping kids from acting "out of line" Also, with all the hype and paranoia generated from the media they've upped the security to the level of prisons.

  • You keep making my point for me.

Our school systems have done nothing but get worse since the ED was implemented. And now reform is even more difficult because it's on a federal level, rather than just state or local, like it should be.

But there might be a day soon where a congressperson decides to "reform" the system and just makes it even bigger, more expensive and less effective.

Yay government! Go ahead make it bigger, it's just going to implode that much faster.

  • ''Yay government! Go ahead make it bigger, it's just going to implode that much faster. ''

You're missing the point. Do you think if we just cut back on our education system these problems will fix themselves? It's not about big or small. Plenty of countries have efficient national education systems. I don't know why you think that when I say "reform" i mean "just blindly expand government". Hell no! I mean reform as in -actually addressing these issues-.
