New in Photoshop CS5 - Repousse 3D in Photoshop

All you need to do to get the 3D tab is open CS5 in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5.... NOT I REPEAT N-O-T C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit).. That's it. If your graphics card wont handle it then you wont be able to use it but that's how you get the 3D tab.... Now go find the exe and enjoy!

Guys,

If youre 3D tab isnt there check:

-You have the extended version of PhotoShop

-You run the 32 bit (x86) version of PhotoShop

(NOTE: You CAN run the 32 bit (x86) version on 64 bit (x64) systems)

The solution to the problem of the people who cant even see the tab, are running the 64 bit version of cs5 and that is the reason they don't have the 3d or analysis tab

To the people who have problems accessing Repousse: don't click the Text Layer button. Use the Magic Wand tool to gather similar colors (the shift button may be used to add separate items), and go back to 3D→Repousse→Current Selection. I think that should work :)

And @DylnCox, @codninga1998, @spynex1: The 3D button is at the top of the page, between Analysis and View. To add it to the min toolbar, you would have to go up to Windows at the top of the page, go down to Workspace, and 3D! :)

@weezy0f0baby i just figured it out myself. you click on window up at the top and check 3D then it'll open up its own mini window then you drag that mini window onto the window that says masks, adjustments, etc.

I've been using this, but the text always ends up have extremely pixelated edges. Any way to fix this? Also, this is only after I use Repousse. The text is fine before hand.

Re Grayed out. Open GL needs to be turned on in CS5 preferences. If it can't be turned on it means your video card isn't powerful enough like on the Macbook pro 2.2 or the driver needs updating {on windows machines only}. There is a possible solution for those unfortunate enough to own a laptop with a card that doesn't have enough umph & that is an external video card solution. For example check out ViDock. I'm going to look into it - and looks useful for other applications and gaming.

I tried that and I also tried using repousse from the 3d panel like in the video and a message appeared telling me that "The command repousse is not currently available" and when I did some more searching, I came to the conclusion that my video card is not powerful enough (Stock Dell GX620). Thanks again for the help.

TL;DR - My video card is not good enough for 3d.

I think it might have something to do with cs5 working in 64 bit..if your machine is older it might not work....I could be wrong and if I am please correct me because I am having the same issues with the function not working.

Why are you running Photoshop in Windows on an iMac? In my experience, the Mac version has always performed better.

@triniclemist90 - Likely for screen recording software or potentially hardware. I do agree Photoshop runs faster natively on the Mac, especially CS5!

I use Windows just for demos because Mac people are used to converting the shortcuts etc. Windows users find it harder to adapt from mac screen recording. So really I do it so I can make the videos usable by most people

@Alectrow The view count on videos isn't updated in real time, it's updated every hour or two or three or something. For instance, when a new video comes out by someone popular, there are for instance onle say, 3,000 views, but 5,000 ratings and 800 comments. 5 hours later it'll say probably 80,000 views, etc, etc.
