this proves you can have a great body with hard work training and good diet.i know for a fact steroids weren't around in these times,so this proves you can get muscular and cut without steroids.much respect to these guys, they are forever an inspiration, even today.
I'd love to have these kinda photos taken of me. I think these are far better than betting greased and tanned up made to look like you're having a shit lifting a dumbbell. The photos back then made it look more artistic too. A graceful and artistic sport.
@BoxFreshNikes I agree and the last one of Steve Reeves is great! I looked at your channel and if you want to bodybuild lay off the alcohol. You are young at 19 and have great potential at that age to bulk up. Be smart and that means eating and training, don't use your body as a garbage dump. Stop reading the crap magazines too like Flex and Mens Health. They don't give you all the right information. They are there to sell you stuff. Read books by noted coaches, trainers, doctors etc.
lol how can steroid improve? Steroids are steroids. Synthetic versions of testosterone. Unless the laws of biology have changed then there is no difference. Sterois didn't come out till early 30's to combat wasting deseases. most of these guys have probabilly never even heard of them.
really classy video. i'm checking out a lot of vintage vids and you included 2 guys missing from a lot of them: arthur saxon and charles atlas. 2 super strong men who were like rock stars in their day. i still use atlas principles years after signing up for his course as a kid(you can't beat using atlas for an active rest routine between your main lifting program).
Has that ever been proven? There are several resources with him stating that he never did steroids. I know he did B-12shots. He physique does not indicate someone that was using drugs. Anabolic steroids came out in the 30's but they were not what we have today or even thirty years ago.
well he had no reason not to take em, yes they weren't as advanced that's true but you have to remember there was no social stigma around steroids at the time so why wouldn't he take some for an extra edge they were legal and available to him so why not right? besides i'm sure his competitors used them so all the more reason. But i can't prove it so i should've said might've used steroids :)) anyway he does look considerably larger than his predecesors
I guess if I were Steve and didn't know all the side effects I would take them too. You know the guy worked out hard and got a great physique from his efforts. He set the standard for the modern day bodybuilder and guess we should focus on those achievements. Thanks for your input man!
I didn't take you wrong and great talking with you on this topic. To many people don't realize how hard you have to work to get your body to look like that. Even the roid guys have to pump like hell, it won't just happen from drugs.
This video is a MASTERPIECE! The music is wonderful and the photos are incredible. I am in awe of these men, the poses on the last three starting with Atlas remind me of Greek Statues. Merci.
What a lot of work. I'm sure you have enough material for a sequel - just have to think of some additional appropriate music. Mars was a great idea and you sure got great sound out of what is a very dim sounding record.
there are many germans

Steve Reeves is my favorite. I think that he had the ideal physique and not over done like so many of todays BB's.

Lots of material left for a sequel but now will have to think of another piece that works well. Thanks Roger

A perfect choice would be the Afternoon of a Faun, conducted lusciously by Stokowsky.

I have that piece on Victor 17700 with Stokowsky conducting.
pax41 2 years ago
Well, there you go. That's the music to which the well-muscled Vaslav Nijinsky choreographed and danced the supersensuous ballet.
Stokowki made several peerless recording of it.
