Until I see Henry Cecil run Frankel in races over 1-1/4 and 1-1/2, I'll continue to consider STS a better horse. Maybe not faster than Frankel at a mile? But better over middle distances. That's not to say Frankel doesn't still have the potential to be this good if he's stepped up to middle distances next season? I don't know why Cecil wouldn't step Frankel up beyond a mile either? With that Galileo pedigree, he should be able to stay middle distances with little problem, IMO.

A really great horse, no doubting that. And this looks like is a really tough course. Along the back they are climbing a hill that would sort the squibs out from the real stayers. They quicken after that with a pacemaker, so there's no breather. Then there is that long searching run run home. Fame and Fortune stuck on well behind the champion.

My god what a horse. Just so good he makes them look like donkeys... in a group 1 Champions stakes... barely even trying. Doubt I'll ever see anything this good again in my lifetime.

thankfully i can say i was there that day and saw him at the curragh as a two year old and went to york to see him win the juddmonte also. wow, some machine, definitely the greatest i've ever seen by miles. could talk about this horse forever.

Thanks for posting this race. I LOVE this horse, Sea The Stars, he's amazing., I had hoped he'd come to the US last year. He would have defeated our best horses and at the same time demonstrated conclusively that horses do NOT need Lasix/Salix or other drugs currently permitted under US racing rules.. Don't get me wrong - I love Zenyatta and am confident she would be the champion she is today without Lasix. But I REALLY want to see Lasix banned.

This was definitely the best performace of a legendary racehorse. The way he just eased past two very classy horses like they were standing still was awesome. And he didn't even come out of second gear. What a champion!

Compared to Zenyatta STS has a shorter, faster stride and both continue to stretch out and accelerate all the way through the finish. I would have really liked to see Z and STS racing down the stretch together at the end of a 10 or 12 furlong race. Fame and Glory ran a game race and never quit but couldn't match strides with STS. The way STS went by it couldn't really be called much of a stretch duel or battle.

It's really difficult to compare horses that run on different surfaces, at different distances and have never run against each other. STS is a magnificent 3yo, looks like a Euro Secretariat on YouTube. No way to know STS would have done against the superb Z-girls, Zenyatta and Zarkava, Too bad the early retirement of super horses prevents fans from seeing these types of races.

I'm a huge fan of Zenyatta. She's proven to be a great mare over her career. But Sea The Stars is a colt that has more natural acceleration than any 3yr.old colt I've seen in some time. Zenyatta ran a big race to win the Breeders Cup Classic, no doubt, but wouldn't it have been interesting if it had been Sea The Stars instead of Gio Ponti that she was trying to run by at the end? Who know's how that would have played out? And that's not an insult to Gio Ponti. He's a great horse too.

Great horse, wonderful competitor. STS made his stretch run under a hand ride. STS might be almost as good as Zenyatta.

I think is a S.T.S is a great horse but remember the two best middle distance horses of last year (Zarkava and New Approach) are not around. That's the thing with these ULTRA mollycoddled top flat horses, they only run for two seasons and most barely reach double figures in their outings. Just imagine S.T.S trained on as a 4 or even a 5 year old and continued his dominance, like great jumps horses HAVE to do. He has plenty of time to make babies, just let the public see more of him.
