I don't want to insult your choices, but ... Scream? I mean, I could see it being the last of five, but ... anyway, I disagree with the top comment about Saw. There are little clues everywhere.
i would say scream is the best they lead u away from what u suspected and then when u see the ending u fee stupid for suspecting something different in my opinion a great movie scream 4 had a great ending too
@calumelliott Watch the end of shutter island again if you didnt understand it, listen to the very last thing he says, If you know what the ending is then congrats. But if you don't prepared to be shocked
@NapkinTable Huh, I did understand the end of Shutter Island, where did you get that from? XD I just stated it to show that I think it would be a good edition, along with Book of Eli!
This was an excellent list my friend. Although at first I was little confused noticing that the twist in "Fight Club" wasn't mentioned at all. That one was a Classic man! =) But overall...Great choices.
A shame not to see Saw in there anywhere. Shutter Island was quite nice as well. I personally saw The Sixth Sense coming a mile off when I watched it. But Scream???.........SCREAM??? It's your list in the end, but man, bad film, predictable ending.
I agree with you on some level, the twist is unpredictable, however the point of Saw was for the villain to be a character absent throughout the movie physically, but to be there in presence. We see his affect on certain characters, such as Tapp, or Amanda, but the character of Jigsaw is revealed to be something the audience, as well as the characters, could not have known. Like the devil. That is just my opinion anyway.
Great choices! How about Seven? What a classic twist ending! David Fincher is truly a genius! Scorsese's The Departed is another recent one that throws the audience for a ride at the end! And we're glad to see Memento on the list. The Prestige is another great Christopher Nolan flick. He's really a master of the twist ending! The Dark Knight Rises looks very promising and we can't wait until next July! A twist ending would make the film even better! We'll just have to wait and see!!!
I skipped over Memento because I haven't seen it yet, and I didn't want to spoil anything, however, Fight Club was a movie at first everyone thought would have no depth in it's concept, but DAvid Fincher through in a twist I don't think anyone saw coming and it changed the whole outlook of the film. That's what twists do, they change the entire film as a whole and these are good picks but main Fight Club was just mind-twisting. Also the Prestige, which wasnt the twistiest twist, yet still good.

RaggaZaggaBagga: Everybody that he met at the motel is his own diversed personalities, all of them lives inside of him, and he kills them one after another.
@snowyalbino130 uh you might wanna watch saw 3 again to see how that was explained. also, zepp had a poison coursing through his system which only jigsaw had the antidote for. don't belive me? watch it again. jesus, i'd swear you never even saw the ending!
@JasonVoorhees2011 I know that haha. What I mean is that the director obviously didn't want you to guess the ending, so he made Zepp act like a total psycho/bad-guy throughout, even though he was completely innocent... it's a twist for the sake of a twist.
Just my opinion : ) I realise I'm in the minority here lol, everyone seems to love Saw.
@snowyalbino130 1) Although Zepp was set up, he began acting like a bad guy because he was actually a sadistic prick that enjoyed the 'power trip' of being a bad guy and threatening an innocent mother and child. 2) Jigsaw injected himself with a drug that slowed his bodily functions to the point where he would appear dead (shown in Saw II).
However, l still think that up against "The Sixth Sense" or "The Usual Suspects", it is majorly flawed. When you watch those movies for a second time, you feel like a total muppet for overlooking the various clues. When you watch "Saw" again, you realise that there are virtually no clues whatsoever, rendering the twist virtually impossible to guess unless you know one is coming.
@snowyalbino130 that's true, i like saw II and III the best. the first one was only created by james wan and leigh whanell. the second and third involved creative output from a separate team who were trying to make a different movie that ended up being combined with saw by lionsgate because the stories were similar. after the original creators left, however, everything went downhill . the other saw movies are very bad.
@snowyalbino130 Don't be hating on the end of Saw, it was an amazing twist ending and the fact it could of never been seen coming but still makes complete sense is amazing.
@snowyalbino130 i think there are clues in saw they are just the smallest details before the last saw came out people knew gordon was coming back because of slight details and he did come back
there were clues of the ending in saw 4, hoffman keeps saying stuff like "dont go through unsecure doors" and he was also carrying a teddy bear that Perez asked about, the first time I watched it I picked up on him cuz that teddy bear was in 3. and i picked up on dr gordon still being alive in saw 2, hes limping around in the venus fly trap video tape
The Usual Suspects is a horrible movie. I've watched it 3 times and STILL can't remember exactly how it goes. The reason is that it is a forgettable movie. The entire movie was built around the ending payoff. Memento, 6th sense are in my top 5. I haven't seen the other two.
and really?!?!?! SCREAM!! cheesy dude...its like the most obvious horror movie ever because its exactly what u thought and yet they play tricks making it seem like they wouldn't make it obvious!!

@nudaydawning Nope. M Night is a lousy director, and always has been. SS is a good film most of the time, but then it comes with this predictable plot in the end which is clearly hinted from the beginning.
@doddi1984 Dude you can't lie, Sixth Sense had a great twist the first time seeing it (in theaters, if you saw it on video I'm sure you heard about the twist beforehand). Still til this day when people talk about twist endings they talk about Sixth Sense. It just seems like it now that it is obvious and isn't that great because people have been beating it into the ground for a decade, which goes to show you how much of an effect it had.
@jarjarbanks22 I saw it on video, and made sure not to read anything or hear a thing about it before viewing.
He gets shot in the gut straight in the beginning of the movie. The most obvious result from that is either death or wheelchair, which you have to admit is a bit of a spoiler to know from the beginning.
I'll admit I was a bit surprised about it though. But this is not one of those memorable plots in movies.
Saw, Fight Club, Star Wars, not good twists. The twist in Saw did nothing to advance the plot. Jigsaw could've just as easily been hiding outside the room or listening to a hidden microphone from a safe location. Fight Club was clever and substantiated, but there were too many holes and overlaps and in Star Wars, Darth could've been lying for all we know. There was no proof whatsoever. Btw, you should've showed both parts of the foolproof Usual Suspects twist; that's what makes it so great.
I like how Kevin Spacey is in 2 of the most famous movie twiests ever.

JasonVoorhees2011 5 months ago 2
@JasonVoorhees2011 Agreed. Although I thought the movie was awesome, the ending is unoriginal.
PforPZ 4 months ago
@JasonVoorhees2011 Se7en wasn't really a "twist" - the audience wasn't lead to believe anything that turned out to be false. But it was shocking.
Fight Club had a pretty good twist, which worked well in the book. But it's a little absurd on screen, especially upon second viewing.
Saw was just dumb lol. Why was Zepp acting like a bad guy the whole time? What would've happened if Jigsaw had to sneeze?
To each their own. IMO Scream is def the best. No one I've shown Scream to has guessed it.
snowyalbino130 4 months ago
@snowyalbino130 uh you might wanna watch saw 3 again to see how that was explained. also, zepp had a poison coursing through his system which only jigsaw had the antidote for. don't belive me? watch it again. jesus, i'd swear you never even saw the ending!

Not to be all about Christian Bale, but The Prestige and The Machinist both had great twist endings.
