  • 77 @ freedom hall in johnson city tenn...with ac/dc and the motors

  • Love it!

  • what a version fantastic

  • @phenix749 Thnx for tuning in & comment,!!

  • Bedre bliver det ikke :-)

  • Schenker at his best in my opinion! His chops off of the album "Obsession" are still some of my fav riffs of all time.......

  • @cutemexgal I couldn't agree more ,thank you for tuning in & comment!

  • I seen UFO in Glasgow, late 70's - Awesome band. this is one of my favorite songs of all time.

  • It's awesome live!

  • amazing version. ms at his best !

  • my favourite ufo song, thanks axe

  • Sweet Music! Nice work and thanks you for posting this classic rock number. UFO Rocks!

  • This is realy live?! God damn, i had to live that times...

  • Hey Axe - is there a video of this in extistence? Incredible - I listened to this when i was about 15 - loved it then, appreciate more now.

  • Schenker's guitar tone between 1975 and 1979 was just out of this world.

  • @Horbrus So true! And nearly impossible to reproduce.

  • how I wish to live those old good times...

  • How was this band not absolutely huge? I mean, they had a fair level of success in the late 70s and early 80s but they deserved so much more.

  • Pete Way was a great bass player back in the day. He's ruined on alcohol now but still a gentleman.

  • Where does Axe find all the killer photos?

This is of course brilliant guitar playing. Melodic yet ripping.

  • UFO was a staple in the Ukrainian village neighborhood in Chicago. When they played at the Aragon, the neighborhood would show up in force of a couple of hundred. The streets in the hood were deserted when UFO was in town. This song epitomized the schoolyard where CHI-WEST swung.

  • @CHIWESTLOVE ...especially when they played the Ampitheater, those shows were epic! I saw them open for BOC there as well as their first headline show at the Amp which was used for some of the Strangers album. Chicago is UFO-Schenker's stronghold. Go West side!

  • the best

  • where did u get the live version of the song?

  • one other thing...this track really illustrates why Pete Way is such an underrated bassist. though aggressive, he's really anchoring the rhythm, and the way he interacts with and eggs Schenker on is great. Their interplay has a lot to do with UFO's fundamentally-solid sound. Also Paul Raymond is a key "utility player" who escapes notice frequently. It's also telling that, while Mogg's storytelling is great, he just didnt sound as inspired in UFO's post-Schenker period.

  • Brilliant analysis, a privileged period in music

  • @TheEarnold Absolutely, Pete Way was a great bassist, not in terms of technique but in the way he anchored the band and filled the gaps with tasteful runs. Phenomenal stage presence too. He was (briefly) replaced by Billy Sheehan, a player of infinitely greater ability yet he didn't add to the sound the way Pete did. There's a lesson to be learned there.

  • interesting, the main melody sort of echoes the Scorps' "In Trance" and Schenk's tone foreshadows later solo work like "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie." another awesome arrangement, heavy but not overly-bombastic. very much epic.

  • P E R F E C T

  • This is the first time I ever listen to a UFO track and it ROCKS!!

  • the tab is almost ready except for the solos and some minor things.

  • have you put the tab up yet coz i have been trying to find a tab for this for about 2 years and i cant find one

  • Timeless...

  • UFO forever !

  • Wow. Dynamite recording - and the muscianship is near-studio quality. Fantastic! Where did this come from?

  • Think this is from an EP 7inch from the Strangers live album. Doctor Doctor maybe. Got it somewhere ! Brilliant. Should have made the album.

  • One of UFO's greatest - Thanks Axe

Hey, Have you ever seen guitar tabs for this song? I'd love to try and play it (minus the solos - lol)

  • I 've never seen any tabs plus it wouldn't do any good at least for me since I can't read music but I did copied the basic rhythm by ear back in 1985,good luck finding the tabs & thnx for watching!

  • maybe i can help,me and my friend started a band and we thought it would be fun to cover this song,we are both big ufo fans, and i'm working on the tab now,in a few days it will be finished,it's not exactly like the original but it's still something.if you guys want we can post it on 911tabs

  • I think that will be great, any chance of getting live footage of you guys covering this song??

    thank you!

  • will do,for now we have to finish the tab,in a few weeks the song will be ready for a live version.

  • That's great man & good luck with everything!

    Rock on !

  • axe, this is so flippin' good i can't take it!!esp.schenk with that shaggy blonde doggy look going on in the pics lmaoo!this is soo much better than any of the bands of that era,yet they didn't get much credit;disgraceful.makes me sick!!ufo-best band ever!!

  • I hear you & agree with you all the way man, thnx for tuning in!

  • UFO will always remain the best rock band in the world. This is one hell of a track.

  • Guitar solo on this live version is awesome!

  • This is sutch a tight fucking heavy metal song!!! UFO ROCKS FROM SWEDEN!!! \,,/

  • UFO - the most underrated band in the world! Such tight rock music! Mogg/Schenker FTW!!

  • UFO is nothing without MS. MS alone made it with MSG what about UFO without MS well they flew away from all the headlines during 79 to forever. MS always! Dont get me my favs are NSG, UFO and Scorps and nothing else.

  • give credit where credit is due. phil mogg may very well have the greatest voice in rock and roll, and the streetwise/dystopian lyrics that he writes for his songs are very distinctive.

  • @jonbecker03

Phil Mogg is indeed one of the all-time great rock singers yet received barely a fraction of the credit he deserved.

  • andy parker kicks ass on the drums. he doesnt get enough credit

  • why should he.

  • Yes, you´re right... I wonder what he´s doing nowadays...

  • You're so right, not only should UFO be bigger, they should be the biggest band worldwide.I hope UFO puts out an album that will blow everyone away and put them on the top where they belong anyway.

  • I think & this is just my personal opinion that if Vinnie Moore brings back his way or style of playing from his solo years into UFO they may have a chance to come up with a killer album!

  • Great album and i love the cover of "No heavey petting"

  • is schenker playing new york? got to see him again. thanks for this great live music.

  • Thanks Axe - Great Guitar Work

I plan on seeing Schenk at the HOB Chicago on 4/2.

  • I'm seeing him in march,I'm sure it will be a killer show!

  • La mejor Banda de Rock de todos los tiempos y una de mis canciones favoritas

  • OMG, it's even better than the studio version!! One of my favourite songs ever!

  • Just even if for the sake of improving the package (if at all possible..) they should have put this on the new version of stangers. They recorded and mixed a bunch of stuff for inclusion on SITN.

That record id a little like Lizzy's L&D, its actually made up of several sources, including some studio stuff! Great anyway,,,who cares when its THIS GOOD.

Loved this a live b-side to was it Shoot Shoot or Doctor Doctor?

  • I always wondered why this wasn't on the live one! This is the first time i've had the pleasure of hearing this. As always, Thank You very much!

  • Michael Schenker is God.

  • I honestly think that this song should be in strangers. really deserve to be in the album!

  • Yes ,you are very right & agree with you,Schenker tought his guitar sounded to thin & was very much disapointed about Ron leaving it along,If you click on my playlist on the UFO interviews 2005,Paul Raymond talks about this matter, thank you so much for taking the time to put your input & to me thae SITN came out excellent, but what do I know,LOL!!!!

  • Thanks so much for posting this. My fav UFO track............one of the best, just awesome!!!

  • Something going on at the corner of the block

    Its the kids down there

    They were startin to rock

    High black fever runnin everyplace

When the greek kid pulled a knife

And pushed it in his face

Some girl makes it with a lover in the door...

    As the ambulance pulls away,

    She cries out more.

  • @Videomakerpro It's "HARD ROCK" fever runnin every place, and later, makes it with her lover in the "DARK". But hey, it's all good, The words arent identicle at every show, like the solos, they expound the moment in the stream of time. Like the "preacher who's been standing with his bible in his hands, is this Gods children ? He didn't understand, and it's all night long" or "the queen who's been standing behind the toilet door cause his parents don't like boyfriends callin him a whore"

  • This song sounds so heavy, yet slow at the same time! Couldn´t be more hard rocker, only purists will listen to it... Well, I love this tune!

  • Hey Axe....Have you ever noticed how similar Kirk's final Lead in Metallica's "Fade to Black" is to this song???

No doubt Michael was a huge influence on them!

  • Oh yeah, not only him but many others guitarists that won't admit Schenker was their major source of influence, thnx for your comment & for watching!

  • one of my favorites from UFO,on with the action ,shit that's nice

  • This was one of the many shows recorded professionally and mixed etc by Ron Nevision. You'll notice when A/B'd with the SITN record, the sound on this is identicle (!?) There's a lot more UFO shows recorded from 77-79, pro recorded that people realise. I hope the mooted box set that concludes the EMI remasters in 2008/9 will see EMI/UFO clearing the decks and finally put out what has sat in the vaults of Abbey Rd for too long.

  • My FAV song when I was 12! UFO and Schenker ROCKS!

  • rock out with your cock out...fuck yea

  • Yes,on this recording is Paul Raymond on keyboards, thnx for watching,Danny who did an excellent job on the keyboards and wrote a couple of songs on No Heavy Petting had left the band by now!

  • Paul Raymond on Keyboards/Rhythm Guitar & B.Vocals)

  • @AXEFLYERFV Just found this - what a brilliant version, but was thinking Peyronnel wasn't quite so annoying as usual and who was playing Rhythmn guitar when I found the answer here! Thanks for a brilliant track!

  • @homeal you're welcome man,thnx for leaving a comment!

  • @AXEFLYERFV I know UFO toured with RUSH,Alex Lifeson said they had a great time on that tour, and often played practical jokes on each other.Do you know when they toured togeather?

  • @STRATCAT101

I saw that tour in late 1977, UFO was touring for the Lights Out album

  • Simply great!! Schenker is god!!!

    andres from Lima, Peru

  • Havnt heard this track since I was a boy, fuckin excellent as it ever was back then. Is it available as a live track on CD?

  • yes, send me a message to my inbox for the info.

  • On Lights Out (Remastered) w/ Bonus Track

  • does'nt get any better than this!thank you

  • this is real rock and roll. the music of REAL men, no pussy ass shit here my friends, just balls out rock and fuckin' rol. 5 stars always.

  • So fucking right! Best comm ever on youtube! Rock on!

  • Way to go, man, way to go...

  • This along with Rock Bottom are two songs by UFO I never tire of listening to

  • my favorite UFO song,no one plays with more passion except Gary moore...maybe

  • little maybe ok.

  • Awesome!!! Just some more proof that UFO was the best sounding live band of the seventies.

thanks for posting this rare gem. Schenker Rules!

  • i dont know if ms over dubbed any tracks on strangers , who knows?, do they even remember?

this track sounds mixed ,but probably not over dubbed , sounds very different in comparison to strangers, just a great solo i remember phil wanted to get a tape of it on the wow tour ,think he wanted to play it live , never did

one of my top 10 favs .

  • this a b side to a single from stranger , doctor doctor i think

i assume its from kentuky of chicago, great version

be interesting to know if it was dubbed in the nevison studio, like a lot of strangers is

  • I thought, after all, they didn't dub the guitars. "Another factor in Schenker's departure, besides auditioning unsuccessfully to replace Joe Perry in Aerosmith, was Nevison's refusal to let him overdub a guitar solo on 'Strangers In The Night'." Google - UFO-The Making of Obessions

  • this is live???

    what year?

  • This was recorded live between 1977/78!

  • Something going on at the corner of the block

    It's the kids down there

    They were startin' to rock

    High black fever runnin' everyplace

When the Greek kid pulled a knife

and pushed it in his face

Some girl makes it with a lover in the door...

    As the ambulance pulls away,

    she cries out more

  • Great quality live recording, would like to snag a copy of this show!

  • Great stuff, I love his guitar works here.

    *****

  • NO COMMENTS ? What a fricken shame :^D

Great song, never listened to the words b4.
