what makes a sportbike a sportbike isnt the amount of power but the seating position and bodystyle. and i know this from riding a cruiser then getting on a ninja 250 and it feeling like a rocket ,not a big rocket but a rocket no less. the geometry of the bike is what allows you to take fast turns and zip around the track not the power of the bike.

Yes, the 250s are sport bikes. They race them in the 250 class sport racing series. Racing is a sport. They use 250 "sport bikes". If they are used for sport, they are sport bikes. Whether people who ride bigger bikes want to admit it or not or consider themselves a "better class of rider...don't compare me to the 250 riders". In contrast, a Honda Rebel 250 is NOT a sport bike. It's a cruiser (I think...maybe classed as standard?) even though it doesn't "cruise" well.

the 250 is a sport bike, supersports are the much faster more expensive ones, test drove my friends yamaha R1 and Honda cbr600 these are supersports class bikes. like the 250 my Ninja 650r is under the sport bike class its faster brothers the zx-6 zx-10r and zx-14 falls under the supersports category. I just dont see why some of these peeps r hating on the 250 give some of the new riders a break they have to start somewhere atleast.

i tell you what though roalme00 it's not a sport bike it's more of a cruise bike because of the size it's way to small for me and im 5 9 and i have a 1982 suzuki katana gs550mz and i can plant the front part of my foot and toes on the ground but the rest of my feet are in the air and i can hold that bike up really good but i was planning on getting the 250 it's a nice bike.
never ridden a 250r but i wouldn't call it a sport bike either. i don't think they even reach triple digit speeds...do they? only reason kawasaki would call it a sport bike and put it under that section on their site is because sure it looks like all their other ninjas from a distance but 250cc's is not very much power at all....would do for a n00bie commuting but for somebody who likes to have fun on a bike you really wouldn't have much excess power at all

I own and have mastered a rgv250.....2stroke-V .......and I'd say its fast and damn fun to ride. Nothing beats it on agility and ease (my opinion). Wheelie is no problem either.

Morons saying "IT'S NOT A SPORTS BIKE" Need to do some reading. The 250R IS INFACT a sport bike. Idiots talking about the 1000cc+ bikes, need to realize that those are called SUPER Sport bikes. It's a different class completely. Kawasaki even labels the 250 as a sport bike, because it is.
And as someone mentioned "It can beat most cars" From a stop, it'll beat just about ANY car to 60.

the 250 is a sport bike, supersports are the much faster more expensive ones, test drove my friends yamaha R1 and Honda cbr600 these are supersports class bikes. like the 250 my Ninja 650r is under the sport bike class its faster brothers the zx-6 zx-10r and zx-14 falls under the supersports category. I just dont see why some of these peeps r hating on the 250 give some of the new riders a break they have to start somewhere atleast.

i tell you what though roalme00 it's not a sport bike it's more of a cruise bike because of the size it's way to small for me and im 5 9 and i have a 1982 suzuki katana gs550mz and i can plant the front part of my foot and toes on the ground but the rest of my feet are in the air and i can hold that bike up really good but i was planning on getting the 250 it's a nice bike.

never ridden a 250r but i wouldn't call it a sport bike either. i don't think they even reach triple digit speeds...do they? only reason kawasaki would call it a sport bike and put it under that section on their site is because sure it looks like all their other ninjas from a distance but 250cc's is not very much power at all....would do for a n00bie commuting but for somebody who likes to have fun on a bike you really wouldn't have much excess power at all

@roalme00 a sport bike is a motorcycle with a frame/full fairing thats built to perform. the ninja 250r is a sport bike (not much of one i might add) while bikes like your 600rr and the zx6r, gsx-r, r6, etcetera are classified as super sports

HasJuice is right.This is a learner's bike. Great first bike but definitely not a sport bike. No matter how hard you try, this pee-wee won't pull from you cause it just can't. Oh, and the ZX14 is not a supersport, it's a hypersport and competes directly with the Hayabusa. The 600cc replicas are SS. Superbikes are litre-bikes. I ride a 954rr (street) and a track'd GSX-R750. These are sportbikes. Honda says the CBR125 is a sportbike...err...no! Don't believe everything you read.

Learning on a small bike is more safe and you learn faster because of the added agility, so you can push the boundries without worrying so much about killing yourself.

I own and have mastered a rgv250.....2stroke-V .......and I'd say its fast and damn fun to ride. Nothing beats it on agility and ease (my opinion). Wheelie is no problem either.
Thanx to this bike, I can progress with skill to my first 1000cc bike.......and damn......I can't wait!

I am 14 years old and I can drive my dad's 675cc Triumph Daytona slowly... I am probably buying a Kawa 250 next year, when I'm 15, to really learn how to pilot. The first time I ran on that bike, I was like "WOW!", it is the true definition of fun !
