  • True Masters

  • Every time i listen to this i feel like the guy at 0:40.

  • Bezapelacyjnie jedno z najlepszych nagrań . And now in English : Exactly This is one From The Best .

  • Loooooove it!!!

  • è la musica che mi ha accompagnato nei passi dondolanti nella deriva della perdita del mio Amore

  • Its me again....

I love the timing on this tune....awesome energy and reminds me of the joy I felt falling in love with my man :)

  • Not much to say other than pure beauty incarnate.... Thank you and I thank God for blessing you with your genius.

  • How can one be in a bad mood when this is playing!? Good melody too, they struck gold with this one.

  • Thank you very much Pat Metheny Gorup! simply OUTSTANDING!

  • When I first listened repetitively to this song a decade ago in my home everyday, even my grandma loved it.

Today, she's 86, and when she hears this same song inside my car, she said "oi!.....this is that same song'!!!!.....and she loves it!

Pat is a MASTER of the guitar.

  • sensational! Pat Metheny and his Band are a group of outstanding musicians!

  • I only discovered this guy 4 months ago! How many more geniuses have I missed? I mean like him, or Michael Brecker or Brad Mehldau....

    F***ing ACE!!!

  • Great! Any other word.

  • What is it about Pat Metheny and road trips?? I have a PM playlist called "Rt 13 South" named for my fishing trips to th Outer Banks of NC. Can't leave home without it.

  • This tune has bitter-sweet memories for me. I love it so much, and yet it's often been their last encore.

  • michael jordan playing the maracas at 0:52

  • @Cliffington1988 Damn i was just about to post the same thing

  • I was at the Beacon too....great show for sure.

  • I was so lucky to see this concert live at the Becon theater in New York City.

they were so good I felt like I was an Eagle soaring through the Rockies whenever I listen to this whereever I am.

  • @Tigerlin7 Spot on.

  • How can the people sit with their arms crossed or hands in the laps during this tune? I just want to get and celebrate the joy I hear in this and I'm not that demonstrable. But OMG this so fine. I lk

  • This is the only way to travel to places you've never been !!

"The Pat Metheny Group" , Prodigies Indeed !! Overwhelming !!

  • Stupendo!!!!!

  • Amazing!!! How does he come up with stuff like this? Not sure if anyone will be able to replicate this high level of musicianship again in our lifetime. People listen to an incredible amount of mediocraty these days . Please tour again with Lyle!!!! Thank you so much Pat for doing what you do!!

  • I think the dislikes are misclicks.. it's quite easy to press the wrong thumb in the hurry. What an amazing song.

  • Who on earth clicked dislike? Have you no ears? This is unbelievable musicianship by the whole band.

  • @bessarel Yes. I know a few people with under developed ears. It's really sad.

  • Hipster Radiohead fans who think they know what genius is need to watch and listen to everything by Metheny. They'll quickly realize that dick is what they know.

  • @MissoulaJazzPianist

how does this being amazing in any way worsen Radiohead? They're on like opposite ends of the emotional spectrum, and both are great.

  • 0.31... Look at that smile... says it all. ;)

  • How did they made the saxophone sound? Fucking magic people

  • This is in the top 5 of the most exciting and emotional songs from Pat! It gives First Circle a run for the money. Wow

  • homenaje a la musica folklorica argentina falta pedro aznar , parece que le costo replasarlo

  • @MrXAVIERDB Yes he is, no doubt.

  • I'd become rather obsessed with learning Lyle's "horn section" during the marimba breakdown. It wasn't until I bought the Pat Metheny songbook and saw the music that I finally realized what was going on. Lyle is a very underrated writer and everyone should buy his albums if you can find em.

  • my true love

  • the solo! the solo!

  • Anyone know what the deal with the toothbrush is?

  • @boiledrootbeer - He uses it between tunes to keep that white smile - no really he put it on the guitar to help with the strap which broke one night in the early days of PMG. He played great that night and kept it there - as you can hear it works.

  • @boiledrootbeer If that is actually a toothbrush on the bridge, it's likely to be because he had one on his old Gibson, which he put there to hold the bridge when it broke. If I had to guess I'd suggest that he has it there because of how it holds his cable in place. However he has MIDI pickups on his guitars; it could be something to do with that.

  • How do they get the 'horn sounding riff around 5:00' It looks like Lyle is on his piano and not on any synth keyboards - it that the midi piano. Or does Pat trigger it or is it hidden with the player on the back right? Great song thanks for posting

  • @dlangegoogle It's most likely Lyle's MIDI piano - He's been using it for years to play parts that require simultaneous piano and synthesizer. His solo with organ and piano on Every Summer Night is another example.

  • Pat Metheny's playing sounds like a person who's constantly crying out his emotions and questions, though with a humble attitude.

  • Thank's pat for making my life a dream when i'm listening to you............

  • We played this song and "Letter From Home' and "heat of the day" for our marching band it sounded almost epically like this. it's sweet

  • DEDICATED AT SFV GROUP......YOU'LL NEVER RUN ALONE!

    max

  • This is my FAVORITE song!!!! Pat Metheny is a FANTASTIC artist!!!! Thank you so much for posting!

  • On my ipod nano!! classic pure and flowing!!!

  • 3:02-3:10 Absolutely gifted by God!!! Pure Genius lick !!!

Pat you're my only addiction !!!!

  • Pure music...all I gotta say!

  • Gooddissimo

  • who is the trap player here? I'M IN LOVE!!! He's AMAZING!!

  • After 26 years of listening to this brilliant musician and his group, I will finally see them live in two weeks. I'm AMPED. It will be awesome if they play this.

  • Can someone tell me why pat always wears striped shirts? There has to be a story behind it.

  • @kdd3051 he is a big fan of Benny Hill

  • @kdd3051 He wears striped shirts when he's with The Pat Metheny Group but when he's solo he wears different shirts. Don't know why, though.

  • Absolutely fantastic!!! I love Pat's music and all the people he plays with. Thanks for the beautiful music.

  • a fantastic composition, definitely my top 3 for best compositions.

  • Lyle Mays as perfect as always!!

  • eccellente, meraviglioso

  • I've seen Pat a dozen times at least and this tour was the best. Paul Wertico uses all those cymbals and is great. Check out the version of this song with the orchestra....one of the best performances ever.

  • I have seen Pat a few times here in London UK...and I dont think I took a breath the whole way through the gig!!

    Simply awesome!

    thank you Pat and Lyle

  • jeah!!

  • What is there to say..? Utterly fking genius.

  • Metheny is the Man... His music is timeless, never grow weary of tuning in to any of his pieces... Keep playing, man...keep playing...

  • This might be (IMHO) the biggest jazz tune written. Not only have I played it, but I've conducted it, and saw Pat perform it live.

It get me EVERY time. My respects Mr. Metheny - and thanks!

  • this song kicks ass, all guitar players should aspire to play like pat metheny, I'm starting out jazz theory lessons because he is such an inspiration

  • /// increiblemente bello ....!! que musica!!

armonia, ritmo, y sensibilidad musical. enorme ,grande trabajo de todos los integrantes del grupo.

  • This was recorded at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California on a beautiful, gorgeous summer night. I was there, and you can see me in row #3 during some of the songs from this DVD. It was sooooooo excellent. (For those who don't know, the Mountain Winery used to be called Paul Masson Mountain Winery. I don't think they make wine there any more---it's just for concerts, weddings, etc).

  • Fantastico

  • Brings back good memories

  • i just can't acknowledge the fact he is so damn amazing. the best thing about his music is that is a pure wisdom so easy to "read". cheers, and thanks a lot4uploading

  • The late great Mark Ledford on vocals. R.I.P

  • Amazes me every time i listen to any of his stuff.

  • Pat will go down in history as one of the jazz greats, right there with Miles, Coltrane, Jim Hall, Wes montgomery, Ray Brown...etc I've bought every album He's put out, and play them over and over again.

  • I completely ruined my cd of "still life talking", played iit so much. Full blast while driving. Saw them live in 2005 at the Warner Theatre in Torrington CT. They did the whole "The Way Up". Beautiful, serene, goose bumps all over my body, the whole show. Love them to death.

  • @kdd3051 Man you love the music just as much as I do, maybe even more.. It's useless to say 'have fun listening' to you, because you will, if i want you to or not :)

  • @4difference Thank you very much for your kinds words. It's so nice to get a reply like yours. When my youngest son was in college getting his Bachelor in Music/Jazz performance the jazz orchestra he was in played Metheny's "Have you Heard and I was instantly hooked. I mean that....instantly. My son plays the upright bass & electric. Plays jazz, rock, just about everything except country. Thanks again.

  • @kdd3051 You know what, we are actually commenting on a PM recording that hits me instantly each time. Look at the start, no count off, they all start at the same time. I'ts amazing!

  • @kdd3051 Haha. Been there. I had to burn another copy, I played Still Life so much. It's my first and favorite PMG CD. Did you happen to pick up the re-master? I think it sounds very nice.

  • @mikeroephonics No I haven't, but I will and thanks for the info.

  • @kdd3051 lol I did the same thing! I need to buy another copy. This is one of my favorite Metheny tunes. A "desert island" CD for sure. :o)

  • Does anyone have any inside info on the next tour for this group. Please let me know .Always loved his music.Thanks.

  • What? You guys are surprised @ Metheny's vituosity?

He's only had it for 30 years now...
