  • My grandad passed away last sunday. I'm rather devastated and i can't really bring myself together this past week.

  • My grandma just passed away Feb. 7th .. the music I usually listen to when I'm going through something like this is really sad music. With my grandma I listened to a lot of things she liked such as Led Zeppelin and the Doors. My own selection that helps me cope are instrumental music and I been listening to a lot of Judas Priest, their song Angel is beautiful . She was like a mom to me and I'm going to miss her so much...Thanks for sharing.

  • The song Fiction by A7X helped me alot just these past few months and also Epiphany by Staind and Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.

  • I lost a older brother, and the music i used was Iron Maiden, but Live tracks. all live tracks. I listened to that for a week straight, cause it was his favorite band, but also, cause it was so powerful to me. Whenever I want to forget something for a while, I listen to Iron Maiden Rock in Rio 2001. For two hours My problems were gone, for I was at that show. Even though I wasn't, I was there, with 750k people who are all just like me, and for that glimpse of time, nothing can bring me down

  • How i got into Radiohead, was through depression... They saved me from it.

Reckoner, All I Need, Bulletproof... I Wish I Was.

    Also, The XX helps me.

  • that handsome devil - miss america

  • Fly to the Angels by Slaughter is a good song to cope with death.

  • Adams Song by Blink 182

  • when my aunt died the two songs I had to avoid were "crying" by roy orbison and "mother" by john lennon. those two songs made me bawl. when my friend's father died, she listened to beatles and white stripes because they made her feel happy. most important, lean on those around you who will listen and help console you. i really enjoy your videos!

  • your never over - eminem

  • dude dude Don't dream it's over by Crowded House, that song will get you through absolutely anything

  • 80's goth music works well; bands like Bauhaus, or especially Death in June

    a7x - dear god

  • Really sorry about your loss Sammi, this makes me think of my grandma who is not dead but is dying. I haven't had a significant person in my life that has died but i had pets die and had to be out down and that was pretty hard and devastating for me. The music i would listen is something really sad and slow, stay strong Sammi.

  • I like how there is a Justin Bieber ad under your video for his new perfume called Someday.

  • green day - wake me up when september ends, 21 guns, time of your life

    Led Zeppelin-Stairway to Heaven

  • Try Good Riddance by Green Day. Or Swing Life Away by Rise Against.

  • my chemical romance- welcome to the black parade

  • When my Father died in 2000 I listened to Incubus' "Make Yourself" the entire album is great. As I'm sure you know!

    Radiohead - Pyramid Song

Radiohead - How To Disappear Completely

  • Fiction by-Avenged Sevenfold!

Sireously....When I Die I Would want this song playing at My Funeral

  • When i was a kid my mom died. I've also lost both grandfathers, one grandmother (with the other well on her way) and a good friend of mine shot himself from bullying at our high school. In my experiences, the best thing to do is for me was to ask someone else, "what was kind of music did they listen to while they were alive?" Its emotional and hard but if you just sit and listen to the music of those peoples lives, its like your getting to know them all over again and its like they r with you :)

  • Last month I lost my grandfather and at the memorial service I was reading ths Slash autobiography book. I couldn't listen to music cuz everything was too sad and too quiet, to help me forget just for a few moments what have happended, but the book took me me somewhere else, and I don't even like to read. But the book helped me cope with his death... And I remember the first song I listened when I knew, Dream On by Aerosmith...

  • My grandfather died recently and I think my mp3 player just knew what I needed to listen to and played "I walk beside you" by Dream Theater. It kinda hit me in the chest at first then I listened to it properly and knew that I should be strong for my family and that I'd always have someone beside me, even just in spirit.

  • When my grandmother died last year, I listened to Let It Be, The Long and Winding Road, Here Comes The Sun, etc.

  • I guess. Foo Fighters - I Should have known... for females.. A7X Dear God

  • My grandmother died this year too. Bad year for grandmas I guess.

  • That sucks, I love my Grandma, in fact I love majority of elderly people that she lives with, seriously they are the most friendliest people I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

If you get some spare time seriously try to Volunteer at an old folks home, some of the stories they have are hilarious, sad, wise, so many awesome anecdotes.

    RIP To your Grandma Sam.

My Grandmother needs a Double Bypass Heart Surgery, she is 84, I really hope she pulls through, I will snap if they botch it.

  • Pink Floyd- Wish you were here

Lion King- He lives in you (Yeah, cheesy I know)

    Foo Fighters- My Hero

    Gorillaz- Melancholy Hill

    Modest Mouse- Float On

i went through something similar a few months ago. My Grandfather, who really wanted me to be in marching band, which I did do after some arguments with parents and personal experiences, died early in the morning on the day I took my semester one band final. It was almost... poetic, in a depressing sorta way.

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan - Life Without You

  • any soft rhcp song really helped me, but then again they are my favorite band lol. the beatles are a good one too

much love being sent your way my friend. ive been there, it will get better with time.

  • Bullet For My Valentine - A Place Where You Belong. B-e-a-utiful.

  • Editors- "Bones"

the best of luck to you Sami

  • @jameswashere14 You can also try "bullets" by Editors

  • One of my best friends died of throat cancer last December. He was 15, and one of his favorite bands was Avenged Sevenfold, so we listened to a lot of songs like Seize the Day, So Far Away, and Fiction.

Cancer by My Chemical Romance also helped.

Alexandre Desplat - "Sunrise On Lake Pontchartrain" (2008)

  • AC/DC - Highway To Hell!

  • @MiniMousePoo2 I would like that to be played at my funeral

  • Chopin's Nocturnes

Helped me through some very hard times in life; when something serious happens, I don't want lyrics to help me understand things or tell me how another person felt, I just want to accept what has happened as part of the human experience, and the powerful piano strokes of Chopin help bring a bittersweet calmness to me when I am feeling overwhelmed by another one of life's curve balls.
