Man, this tag has come a long way. When my quartet, Countdown, was at Internationals in Atlanta about 10 years ago, the guy that wrote this tag taught it to us. We brought it back to the Far Western District, and pretty soon everyone was singing it...lol It's an awesome tag. One that's short, but gorgeous. Good job on it, guys.
i think that because of the way that the last two chords are arranged, the final chord sounds more natural than if it were to resolve into the tonic again
People are making comments about the tag's progression so I thought I might add my two cents: if you think it sounds weird, try hearing it from the perspective of thinking it's in the same key as the final chord and the BEGINNING is the creative part. Then it sounds like it's finding resolution. It makes sense from the last few chords' progression too.
it seems that some people don't like tags for what they are which is usually a bunch up of really nice chords, people just seem to like screamers these days. the last chord is suprising which makes it so nice, this is one of my fav. tags and i love to sing it. the left 2 parts are nice but the right 2 could've given a bit more in terms of emotion. but it was nicely sung.
There is nothing wrong with the arrangement, or the progression. It just sounds to me like this bass was bass-boosted a LOT, and not only does it sound somewhat unnatural, it overpowers the other parts in this mixdown.
i was just curious as to how long it takes you to record a tag by yourself and with other people. Also, I think you have a great gift, and as you can see, many people including myself are impressed by what you do. Thanks for sharing your gift with all of us!
I love this one. It's very soft and subdued rather than "are you going to Scarborough...FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIR!" Although I love that one too, haha, I think I have it favorite-ed.
Great job to the two of you. So Simon sang bass and lead, and Christopher sang baritone and tenor? What a great display of your ranges! Thanks for sharing.
IMHO, this is the best "Though You're Gone" tag! It sounds do good.

so, hes a very succesful baritone, but hes not singing baritone in this tag hmm =P
Still got amazing blend on the tenor and bass though =)

I agree with ragtimejim, the beginning is beautiful, and then it just ends on that weird chord.

a beautiful major chord - what's weird about that??
nivek9k 2 years ago 2
Well, it's not what I expected, lets just say that. The Tag is still great.
SpanishEngineers 2 years ago
its not wierd, its just an interrupted cadence, it finished on the VI chord, i think
sephiroth3782 2 years ago
I'm just saying that the tag could end in a different way. Still, tag is awesome.
SpanishEngineers 2 years ago
i suppose, but i always like it when the dominant chord goes to the VI instead of the tonic, it makes me smile =P
sephiroth3782 2 years ago
Me too. :) It was beautiful.

V to VI my friends is called a deceptive cadence =]

Actually, I sang lead and baritone... So no display of range for me =)
It was kinda funny, coz both me and Chris are lead/baritone, but I let him pick, and he picked bass and tenor =)
