Perfect...you have answered my question. I was thinking of buying a G5 instead of a new Mac Mini because the G5 is more upgradable and appears to be mroe powerful.
Oh don't get me wrong It was a fast amazing machine for It's time but the mac mini is faster in benchmarks and overall stuff like that, I do miss my G5 it was a fantastic machine!
i recomend you put the max ram in that G5 as the G4/5 runs better with the more ram you put in the system its somthink to do with the altivec engine i was told but i could be wrong but its all ways nice to max out the ram and if im right carnt you get 8GB or 16GB (this 16 was in later G5 could be wrong)
fully agree with your point about PPC compatibility. last time i was in the apple store, i was looking at some of the games, and a number of the new ones are intel only.
You could use an intel emulator, but you would need a REALLY good processor like the three ibm cell cpus and tons of ram.

i wish apple had gone with the IBM Power 6 chip (which would have been a G6) That would have been an Intel killer, RISC kills all CISC processors.

G5 is 400mhz and the hard drive is 7200rpm
mac minis FSB is 667 and the hd speed will be 7200rpm

Actually I'm correct, the stock hard drive in the mini was 5400 but the one I have in there right now is 7200 =]

You're gonna upgrade the mini to only 2.16GHz CPU? :S
If I were you, I would upgrade to a 2.3GHz or 2.4GHz.
I'm soon gonna put a 2GB stick on my mini so that I have 2.5GB.
Btw, if you put 4GB instead of 3GB (on the mini), you get better performance because you're using RAM in pairs, which enables dual-channel.

Well i could put more in but its alota cash, and yeah i may do 4 gig of ram at some point, and the mac mini can take up to a t7600 which is 2.33

Yeah, 2.33GHz is the limit because Apple hasn't decided to put Socket P (Santa Rosa) chips on them, so the mini uses older Socket M :'(
I am still wondering about when will they update them. The mini has had no updates FOR A YEAR!!!
