  • Runrig and Donnie Munroe are the epitomy of the scottish passion.Gutted he is gone.

    R.I.P Runrig.

  • @MrStevieevil RIP? Runrig is still going strong and gets better every year.

  • Fantastic music. I just discovered Runrig on Pandora and wish we would get to hear more Scottish musicians on the west coast of the U.S.A.. Long Live Scotland!!

  • Hi friends of Runrig...

My daughter got the name because it has different meanings in the home language. In Spain ... Alba means "dawn. " In Latin, "White Woman. " In Scotland ... means "Runrig."

    A friend. OQ

  • @ciudadanoquiros Alba means Scotland in Scottish Gaelic, it doesn't mean Runrig.

Runrig is the name of a type of agricultural ploughing they used to use in the Highlands.

This song is about someone returning to Scotland (verse one, this flight is sailing through the clouds, etc) and finding it powerless (verse two, that empty house in Edinburgh) and saying it is like he remembers it (final words of verse three are about how this land is as dear to him as it was the day he was born).

  • @tj4234 No its not! This song is about cheap and cheerful CD players from the market made by ALBA. Get your facts right!

  • @MrFrontallobotomy I speak Gaelic. I was translating the lyrics. The lyrics mean what I said they mean

  • @tj4234 It's a joke OK! As in Ha ha. Remember laughter?

  • ALBA, FOREVER!

  • The people on the front rows in a Runrig concert tend to show up in their concerts as well. If you look at their early videos, you start to notice the same faces over and over. And they so KNOW it when the red camera light is on them. >_<

  • Ach's math dhomh bhath seo an drsad

    A cur failt air a'bhlas

'San tir tha cho ur dhomh an dugh

Is a bha i nuair bha mi 'nam phaisd...

  • This is the greatest live recording I have ever heard.

    Alba gu brath.

  • ALBA !

  • Alba för Nordmännen och Vikingar !

  • @Sweden80Here - It's been a long time since you were there, but you're welcome to give it a try! ;)

  • Hooooly jesus...... I have this very gig on VCR- I remember when I was a kid trying to learn this song on guitar constantly rewinding and playing, watching Malcom's fingers closely. XD Good time- excellent song

  • Donnie's mullet type affair was soul destroying but they didn't half pen some cracking choons.

  • This was the first time Galic had been spoken in Edinburgh for 400 years!

  • Good job I didn't speak it when I was there three years ago... well I did but I just didn't tell anyone so it doesn't count.

    Alba go bragh!

  • Here are the lyrics in English for us lazy sods who cannot be bothered to learn the old Galic.

I went down to the electrical store to buy a new Sony T.V

Put the prices were way too high and I could nee afford any.

Then out of the corner of my eye I saw a wonderful sight

A flat screen in my price range, Now I can watch the Celtic game tonight!

    It's made by.

    Alba, Alba!

  • Takes me back to a night in 1991 when I sat on the street below Edinburgh Castle with a good friend and enjoyed listening to that majestic guitar sound of Runrig echoing across the city. All the best from Ireland.

  • was this ever released as a dancey version? I heard one years ago..

  • I am a Spanish man... Runrig is absolutely unknown in our country. I'll never understand. I discover the Runrig music in 1989... and I love it.

The name of my daughter is.... ALBA.

    Thank U, Runrig to exist...

  • ALAB is the gaelic word for Scotland, i am from the Isle of Skye in Scotland where Donnie Munro the ex lead singer is from. Great band with him and with Bruce

  • @ciudadanoquiros

I am a Scottish man, staying in Catalonia, I went to this concert in Edinburgh and Loch Lomond. The best ever concert I ever went to. I believe that Alba is Dawn in Catalan? I saw this here and was surprised to see this word in Catalonia. Thanks for enjoying the old Runrig, do not like the new Runrig, well for the past 7 years or so, with the Canadian

    Enjoy they are so great

  • Great song about an electrical company that used to make budget midi hi-fi stacks.

    Runrig, you are the best!!

  • used to listen to back in Bosnia where i have been intoduced by Alma, my scotish friend!!

  • runrig are superb old an new howmany bands have lasted as long as they have??? donnie munro is a legend and always will be but bruce gunthro is gr8 and if it wasnt for him runrig wud not be hear 2 day as rory said at stirling castle calum and rory are the heart of the band bring on the 40th anniversary!!!!

  • "how many bands have lasted as long as they have???"

Not that many, but if you stick around those islands, you may have heard of The Dubliners. Runrig are still rather green compared to those.

    They're good, nonetheless.

  • I love them :)

  • Love the old band to but i dont like the new one with that guy in it.Cant wait to the summer here for donnie to come back loch lomond again.

  • They're not the same without Donnie are they? :(

  • Cutter and the Clan is a great album

    and Runrig are awesome live!

  • mullet to match the vest Donnie, shame didnt help him much in politics.

  • Nice vest Donnie.

  • So when was this concert?

  • The concert was back in 1991.Started of at Loch lomond then moved onto different places around scotland including Edinburgh Castle then onto european citys.

  • The Boys had hair in those days!!

Good to see the old line up, from the Big wheel tour again. I live in Edinburgh, the Castle has some big name act over the years, But Runrig are the only one to have had Dancing in the street below.
