Just like to point out, Sullivan has been plagued with many health conditions for quite awhile (Among other newer sayings). I personally have seen him twice doing demonstrations, both up close and to be honest- He looked like he was going to pass out at any moment! I personally have trained under Gavin (who is brilliant) and Stacey. Both have failed to dissatisfy, needless to say Sullivan should stick with giving wisdom and not so many demonstrations. xD
i have read most of the comments on mr sullivan but my opinion will be my opinion.I have seen better katas from lower grades. My son trains with gkr and iam not a bias person , but if this guy cant perform a simple kata (if its age or some other problem)he shouldnt do it knowing it will be posted for millions of people to see on youtube. Its not dissrespect to call a spade a spade its just being honest. As far as him (killing someone) i do like a good joke, so that made me laugh.stop doing demos pz

Sorry but his kata is not good for his grade... GKR maybe you should get the correct japanese translation, it does not mean what your GKR think it does.. How can anyone defend someone that gets a green belt and suddenly self grades himself, he is cheating parents, children by teaching them in correct and it is an insult to the tradtional karateka. Most of us work hard to gain shodan and continue to work hard and grow, something that these have missed !!!!!
Man, I used to work for GKR, and have done a lot of martial arts, and I've gotta say that that is the sloppiest Kata I have ever seen. I have seen complete newbies to martials arts perfom kata better than that in their first few weeks. Absolutely awful. Shotokan was so much better than this.
@gd01902 LMAO thats actually made me laugh my ass off. I think he could possibly train but its his teachers who taught him that suck or he bought his belt
@killerhater88 Sullivan was taught by Kyoshi Tino Ceberano, the father of australian karate. He only reached green belt grade and that was over twenty years ago now. He has promoted himself ever since...just like bob jones, another martial arts joker.
@nikonboy07 i always thought Bob Sullivan was taught most of his Goju by Merv Oakleigh? please clarify, because i cant see anything in wat i have read about Sullivan to say that he trained under Tino Cerberano

We just game back from the 2010 Oceania Championships 3 weeks ago where our club picked up gold and silver medals for australia so why dont you shove that up your ARSE!
Fact: I was offered a job as a karate instructor with GKR 25 years ago. I was interviewed personally by Bob Sullivan in Adelaide and told he would get me to shodan standard in 18months. He had just been graded to green belt level the year before by the same GOJU club that I trained with.

HMMMM it seems GKR students don't just swear but they are also liars. What you should have said was that your club competed at the IGKR Oceania championships.

@nasmaori sorry mate i have to disagree. GKR students may compete at AKF/JKF level, they do not howveer do it under the GKR banner simply because GKR is NOT registered with the AKF

just look at the first section alone..a front kick does not set up a heito strike as the nest move of a flowing combination? the head would simply not be in the position after the kick to be a target for that follow up strike?
i think this is what frustrates people who "Know thier stuff"??
Brilliant display of "Adelaide" kata. Bits of this, bits of that, throw a low kick here, then another one there, turn around a few times and call it after your name. I feel sorry for those spectators who actually film this poor excuse for a kata. I wonder if they still have it on their cameras, since so many ppl leave GKR in disgust!!
BTW I have been at it for 46 years, and yes I am jealous hahahahahahaha!
Their "senseis" all wear their black and white belts and claim they are "instructor belts" yet the minute they get their black belts, they ditch them.Surely,if it's an instructors belt you'd wear it whatever your grade.Funny that.....Fact is,it's not an instructor belt,it's a "hide my real grade" belt,to lure in unsuspecting newcomers.Anyone who thinks this is acceptable is simply crazy and in my book all you kyu grade "senseis" are an utter disgrace and just as bad as sullivan in my book.
Lame response. If they stood in front of the class, everybody would know that they are the"instructor",more to the point, they would know that they are also not qualified to teach,as the general consensus throughout the MA world is black belt minimum. How would newcomers feel if they saw a guy wearing a green belt, saying they had to pay him to teach. Also answer my question, how many gkr "senseis" do you know who got their black belt, but still wear the black & white belt? we both know it's ......NONE.
As a matter of principal, nobody should EVER teach karate unless they are at least 1st dan. This isn't to say that when you are a black belt you can teach,as some people just don't have the skill. For example, some world class footballers make shite managers. However, anyone serious about karate will see the LEGITIMATE aquisition of a black belt,as their apprenticeship/training as complete, whereupon they can learn "real" karate.GKR instructors are the same as their "kancho"......... FRAUDSTERS.
everyone has knowledge to impart. why wait til 1st dan to do it? i myself am a 2nd kyu instructor in gkr, and you say your training is complete at black belt? thats bollocks! your training never stops, even the kancho's of styles never stop their own training. You learn new every time you train, or even teach. And i would gladly take instruction from a lower grade if it aided me.
Perhaps you should read what i write before responding.
At no point have i said that when you get to 1st dan your a master, expert or your karate journey has ended, what i have actually said is your training/appreniceship is complete.
Just like a doctor,,teacher etc has to "do their time"or "earn their stripes" it is accepted in the world in general that one must obtain an acceptable level of knowledge/experience before they pass on,what they have learned.Tell me,what has a yellow belt learnt?
This shit guy can't do this kata or any others the way it be should be done because he's shit, he can soon take your money, he can't teach, he can't do katas, he can't explain bunkai properly he has to think about the kata first and when he does go thru it he fucks it up. What a useless unrecognised style of 'taking your money'..oops sorry...Karate..and I use that term very very loosely.
katas are only useful IFyou kno how to use them in a fight or at least practice each movement and imagine how/where it would be used in a real street fight(in self deffence)
If he and is crap are so respected how come no karate governing body recognize them . any body can train in japan its just you clowns paying stupid amounts of money to train under green belt senseis that gets them there. How the japs must be imprest with your non contact karate.
"kancho" sullaven is a 1st or second dan shotokan but then he went on to make his own little style he self graded himself to 7th dan tbh hes a sloppy second dan in all vidoes ive seen of him hes awfull.hes a disgrace to karate and to gkr i mean my gf does gkr she puts alot of effort in and is the equal to any shotokan of her belt the only thing that worries me in gkr is the lack of good teachers i mean a blue belt teacher a red belt (red=shotokan purple i think ) kinda takes the piss
this isnt klancho sullivan performing the kata at 100% full force, he is just going through the basiocs so that everyone can see the lowdown of the actual moves. it would be much stronger if he did it full force.
Your comment tells me you havejust begun your martial journey-gkr is a good intro. Robert Sullivan has questionable credentials and shakey Karate. You are in GKR world where its all happy. they make you feel like your someone! nothing new LOL
Listen, people have their own opinions about GKR karate, but at the end of the day i use my experience to control my thoughts.and top be honest,im looking forward to doing GKR for as long as possible.i have had a brilliant time with GKR kasrate and am not stopping now.different sides there may be.but if you have never done GKR before, you might just want to stop complaining for something you have only seen:P
Been at every level of GKR, you a disposable student who will leave anyway when you find out the truth, and you will- part of the game is to make you feel good, do they make you feel goooood!
listen,i can see what you mean, but i want to carry on.being at every level of GKR is great to know what you want to do in the future, but it doesnt just maske me feel good. i learn something new every time i train at sensei class. this is something that has stuck to me for a long time now.i'm not stopping here.i want to do this to the highest standard. please understand.:P
Lol i do understand, you dont realy know what you are doing, blinded by the ego. All the nice comments from you Senior is to keep you teaching.
Please go and train with a real instructor first before you commit to your GKR journey. You will love it at first, then get too involved. Then you will realise what they are about. Just trying to save you.
iknow what im doing-please stop trying to repel me from GKR since it wont work-i have been training for almost three years now, and as an instructor i respect all styles of karate and martial arts itself.
i would also like to add that in an official interview with one of karate's top instructors, hirokazu kanazawa,he said that he was impressed with GKR's style and how it has come about in the last quarter of a century-and im not lying at all-those were his words not anyone else's.
With all due respect,i also value other martial arts as well, and as much as i would like to train in other martial arts,GKR karate remains(for the moment) the most important, and i cant blame you for thinking this of GKR karate(neither can i for the other people who dislike GKR) ,but training for three years i feel like i have a goal to achieve.and being only 17,i may wake up and smell the coffe of other styles. i would really love to do more than one martial art, to value my knowledge.regards.
Go search out a legitimate Martial Art in your area and forget this nonsense, because you are wasting your time!
If you let me know what your location is (by private message), I can point you in a better direction, as I have contacts all over the world and have been in MA for several decades.
well, thanks for your honesty, but i would rather wait a little bit later and make my own mind up later.its ok taking other views and advice, but at the end of the day,its my choice. ok,so maybe i will quit GKR in the forthcoming times, but until then i would rather let my progress get that extra bit higher before joining another martial art.
well,i think i may have been in the same position once.i am currently a 3rd kyu instructor and i do actually learn a lot every week at senior training, and as much as i love this style, i also value the other martial art styles as much as this one, since no martial art is 'better' than any other.they all come from different minds alike, and contain a different form, each used for self defence/ technique/knowledge.
Sorry, but you shouldn't be an instructor at your grade, you don't know enough about technique, form, japanese...then again thats typical gkr making instructors out of low grades.
Errm have you ever trained in gkr? i doubt it, you wouldn't have this view if you had. Tell me, what style(s) do you train in?
and i'm only a sempai but still im more than capable of teaching, it's not the age, its about whats around the waist, the belt, the experience and the knowledge i have to pass on. And i have no spots.
not @ all. just because youve trained for a long time doesn't meen ur any good!!
Myself have 20 years Ma training I was with GKR for 6 Months. it wasnt 4 me but that doesnt man its not for every1, why not shut up n let ppl decide for themselves?
again i state the point that just because you have trained longer doesnt mean a thing, you are the ignorant 1! are you jelous because the bloke has made more money than you ever will?? say what you want about me I dnt care, you dont know what i have achieved and i dont care what you have. get a life and tell ppl what is good about your club not bad about others and they will make up there own mind!!!!!!
you clearly know a lot less about ma Than you would have people believe!!
bottom line you have nothing better to do, Last reply am gunna be making. The fact that you are very vague about what you have done yet claim to know it all and slag off anything you don't understand is actually funny!!!!!!!!!!
listen,i really do respect you for yours and everyone else's opinions on GKR,but at the end of the day,it is my choice.
any other styles of karate or martial arts i certainly will try, since my mind is not yet fully focussed on GKR,but martial arts itself. i am up to try anything these days:)
gkr is not a style of karate, its bits of shotokan and bits of goju ryu cobbled together very badly, you dont seem to have the knowledge about this art to know you are being taken for a ride.I hope you realise before you waste to much of your time and money.
because if youse truely studied karate you would all know that all karate has a similar style and that no! style is superior or better than another, karate isnt about winning its about inner journey and self discovery of yourself. i myself study under GKR karate and im ashamed of all GKR student in here who are disrespecting other styles, and westBfella,if you are so confident in your style the enter a NAS tournament and test your style and yourself.
If NAS was in my country then I would be over like a shot - but I can't justify the cost. I would like to add that I have defended GKR on many occasions- I'm all for karate and I'm not for disrespect. If GKR students want to tell me how great they are and how great NAS is-ok. But I exist in a the real world not a self contained bubble. If any GKR want to train with me - you are MORE than welcome.
I like many train with karate-ka who are not part of my association it is what makes me better...
....and you are 100% right karate is about an inner journey - which is why I train every day with ANYONE I can to improve. Why I am on this forum presenting educated discourse to push the boundaries - I AM NOT a GKR hater. If you spend a bit of time looking up the posts I have put out you will realise that.
And believe me tonyk666 I study karate - I really study karate.
If you get the offer of All-Japan or NAS which one would you pick?
My offer of training also extends to you. Good training
im a GKR student and i have never disresepcted any style, never will.i love martial arts itself-when i get the chance i will try each one out.you never know,i may be a going to kickboxing or kung-fu every week.you have to take these chances.thats what i think for myself.
The beauty of you tube is that I can spend the best part of day (or more) looking at NAS competitions and the answer is simple.....Karate competitors pay for entry to competitions, thus forcing them to consider what they should enter (as well as governing bodies limiting entries!). If I take in to consideration travelling, course fees and time - there is no way I'm wasting my time in a substandard competition.....
......so the question becomes not 'why do the GKR do so well as NAS?' rather why does the GKR do so badly at everything else!
As a coach to a karate squad I travel most weekends around the UK, as do alot of us - we see the same faces, know what's worth entering (or not).
BOTTOM LINE: GKR enter NAS because we don't!!!!!!! But if you keep pushing someone's gonna get annoyed and enter it just to beat you - and then what's going to happen?
Train a few more years, clean up your language and then.Ossu
'i only train cause were such a friendly club....so screw you'
Friendly to who?
First of all I find your language offensive, and your attitude not much better.
I have been training 16 years, and believe me if a student of mine was to be so disrespectful (2 years or not) - then they're going to be in serious trouble.
I have often defended GKR because I believe all training can good.....
.....but it is behaviour like this from cohai that show GKR to have lousy attitudes.
If you take karate-do seriously then you don't play about - Imitations of kata, kumite and kihon, backed up with a fundamental flaw in character is not karate-do so please don't waste my time with lies about friendliness.
My invite was not to be flippant, if GKR do so well at NAS then they should have no problem at my humble dojo - my club may even learn something in the process!.........
So GKR lovers, why do you not enter karate competitions of any real merit?
If any UK GKR club would like to arrange with me a competition between your club and mine (I've got beginners through to 3rd Dans) - send me an email - I promise to post the videos on You Tube (if you wish).
we have begginers through to 5th dans throughout the whole body..but why do we win so much at nas? i no our style is..different..but i have been training 2 years and will still train even if it is the worst club in the world. i only train cause were such a friendly club and have made friends though there.thats at what matters to me so screw you
..My cousin could play only 2 chords on a guitar which inspired me to pick up the instrument - obviously I wouldn't want him to be my music teacher with only a small knowledge in music but 10 years later thats what I do for a living.
GKR have a small knowledge of karate-do but it allows people to get inspired about what we all love - how many of them end up at our dojos? And ultimately how many of them WILL end up at our dojos. Let them be and they will find us. Good training everyone. osu
Your absolutely right,i'm blocked from making any comments on her sites. She's probably a really nice person, just disillusioned.A lot of gkr senseis train in my style as well, most have quit gkr. However, one in particular stopped coming as the regional manager promised her, she'd get her 1st kyu early if she stopped.Shame on him for the offer... even more, shame on her for accepting it...Better to be a good 5th kyu, than a shit 3rd kyu, this conduct epitomises gkr, some good practitioners, mostly shit.
I not only think that 'lonerook860 is a very jealous person but also a very rude person and needs reminding that I ask for people not to leave vile and rude remarks , the fact lonerook860 has used a vile word to describe me for blocking it proves why I block persons such as itself and I will take the matter to the appropriate authorities in regards to the word used.. a copy its comment below has been kept and passed on..
What the hell was that??? That was just some made up kata he pulled out his a**e!! That is an insult to Karate people everywhere not to mention people who actually have earnt the title Kancho and not bought it.

I trained under Kancho a few weeks ago.
He is full of knowledge, however, old age and the strain of setting up the organisation has clearly taken it's toll.
On the bright side, his Kata looked heaps better then this video. Looks like he's lost weight too. :/

KARATEJEDI2 2 years ago
As a matter of principal, nobody should EVER teach karate unless they are at least 1st dan. This isn't to say that when you are a black belt you can teach,as some people just don't have the skill. For example, some world class footballers make shite managers. However, anyone serious about karate will see the LEGITIMATE aquisition of a black belt,as their apprenticeship/training as complete, whereupon they can learn "real" karate.GKR instructors are the same as their "kancho"......... FRAUDSTERS.
KARATEJEDI2 2 years ago
Right wanna hear my view?
everyone has knowledge to impart. why wait til 1st dan to do it? i myself am a 2nd kyu instructor in gkr, and you say your training is complete at black belt? thats bollocks! your training never stops, even the kancho's of styles never stop their own training. You learn new every time you train, or even teach. And i would gladly take instruction from a lower grade if it aided me.
Jamesriotrawrbellion 2 years ago 2
Perhaps you should read what i write before responding.
At no point have i said that when you get to 1st dan your a master, expert or your karate journey has ended, what i have actually said is your training/appreniceship is complete.
Just like a doctor,,teacher etc has to "do their time"or "earn their stripes" it is accepted in the world in general that one must obtain an acceptable level of knowledge/experience before they pass on,what they have learned.Tell me,what has a yellow belt learnt?
KARATEJEDI2 2 years ago
This shit guy can't do this kata or any others the way it be should be done because he's shit, he can soon take your money, he can't teach, he can't do katas, he can't explain bunkai properly he has to think about the kata first and when he does go thru it he fucks it up. What a useless unrecognised style of 'taking your money'..oops sorry...Karate..and I use that term very very loosely.
thetruthboss 2 years ago
katas are only useful IFyou kno how to use them in a fight or at least practice each movement and imagine how/where it would be used in a real street fight(in self deffence)
oo77i 2 years ago
A trully useless karate ka out side of gkr no ones bloody heard of him. Akarate style recognised by no one
splodgenessabounds 2 years ago
Yet you all know who he is??? strange that!
Robert sullivan and GKR's senior instructors are well respected in Japan and train out there regularly Fact. no matter what you think ov gkr!
Geordie794 2 years ago
We all know who he is, because he is a disgrace!
osummuso 2 years ago 4
I'll second that osummuso, although utter disgrace is more appropriate.
KARATEJEDI2 2 years ago 3
If he and is crap are so respected how come no karate governing body recognize them . any body can train in japan its just you clowns paying stupid amounts of money to train under green belt senseis that gets them there. How the japs must be imprest with your non contact karate.
splodgenessabounds 2 years ago
"kancho" sullaven is a 1st or second dan shotokan but then he went on to make his own little style he self graded himself to 7th dan tbh hes a sloppy second dan in all vidoes ive seen of him hes awfull.hes a disgrace to karate and to gkr i mean my gf does gkr she puts alot of effort in and is the equal to any shotokan of her belt the only thing that worries me in gkr is the lack of good teachers i mean a blue belt teacher a red belt (red=shotokan purple i think ) kinda takes the piss
toby19901 2 years ago
Hes a fraud- money is his goal
The13hands 2 years ago 2
this isnt klancho sullivan performing the kata at 100% full force, he is just going through the basiocs so that everyone can see the lowdown of the actual moves. it would be much stronger if he did it full force.
musicalkaratekid 2 years ago
Your comment tells me you havejust begun your martial journey-gkr is a good intro. Robert Sullivan has questionable credentials and shakey Karate. You are in GKR world where its all happy. they make you feel like your someone! nothing new LOL
The13hands 2 years ago
Listen, people have their own opinions about GKR karate, but at the end of the day i use my experience to control my thoughts.and top be honest,im looking forward to doing GKR for as long as possible.i have had a brilliant time with GKR kasrate and am not stopping now.different sides there may be.but if you have never done GKR before, you might just want to stop complaining for something you have only seen:P
musicalkaratekid 2 years ago
As you are now so once was I-
As I am now you shall be.
Been at every level of GKR, you a disposable student who will leave anyway when you find out the truth, and you will- part of the game is to make you feel good, do they make you feel goooood!
The13hands 2 years ago
listen,i can see what you mean, but i want to carry on.being at every level of GKR is great to know what you want to do in the future, but it doesnt just maske me feel good. i learn something new every time i train at sensei class. this is something that has stuck to me for a long time now.i'm not stopping here.i want to do this to the highest standard. please understand.:P
musicalkaratekid 2 years ago
Lol i do understand, you dont realy know what you are doing, blinded by the ego. All the nice comments from you Senior is to keep you teaching.
Please go and train with a real instructor first before you commit to your GKR journey. You will love it at first, then get too involved. Then you will realise what they are about. Just trying to save you.
The13hands 2 years ago
iknow what im doing-please stop trying to repel me from GKR since it wont work-i have been training for almost three years now, and as an instructor i respect all styles of karate and martial arts itself.
i would also like to add that in an official interview with one of karate's top instructors, hirokazu kanazawa,he said that he was impressed with GKR's style and how it has come about in the last quarter of a century-and im not lying at all-those were his words not anyone else's.
musicalkaratekid 2 years ago
Three years and you're an instructor?
I wouldn't let you tie my belt for me after three years.
Quit spouting the self-generated GKR propoganda and smell the coffee.
osummuso 2 years ago
With all due respect,i also value other martial arts as well, and as much as i would like to train in other martial arts,GKR karate remains(for the moment) the most important, and i cant blame you for thinking this of GKR karate(neither can i for the other people who dislike GKR) ,but training for three years i feel like i have a goal to achieve.and being only 17,i may wake up and smell the coffe of other styles. i would really love to do more than one martial art, to value my knowledge.regards.
musicalkaratekid 2 years ago
Then do yourself a huge favour.
Never go back to GKR.
Go search out a legitimate Martial Art in your area and forget this nonsense, because you are wasting your time!
If you let me know what your location is (by private message), I can point you in a better direction, as I have contacts all over the world and have been in MA for several decades.
osummuso 2 years ago 2
well, thanks for your honesty, but i would rather wait a little bit later and make my own mind up later.its ok taking other views and advice, but at the end of the day,its my choice. ok,so maybe i will quit GKR in the forthcoming times, but until then i would rather let my progress get that extra bit higher before joining another martial art.
musicalkaratekid 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Mate, don't quit gkr. It's an awesome style, im a 2nd kyu instructor in it, back a while i wanted to quit but seriously don't , you really regret it.
Jamesriotrawrbellion 2 years ago
well,i think i may have been in the same position once.i am currently a 3rd kyu instructor and i do actually learn a lot every week at senior training, and as much as i love this style, i also value the other martial art styles as much as this one, since no martial art is 'better' than any other.they all come from different minds alike, and contain a different form, each used for self defence/ technique/knowledge.
musicalkaratekid 2 years ago
Sorry, but you shouldn't be an instructor at your grade, you don't know enough about technique, form, japanese...then again thats typical gkr making instructors out of low grades.
thetruthboss 2 years ago
theruthboss gkr karate is not traditional japanese is all about making money they are copied version of varies of arts
jihaddafighter 2 years ago
GKR is NOT a style, it is a cobbled together moneymaking scheme.
osummuso 2 years ago 4
No, it's recognised as both style and club.
and many other MA cost more money than gkr.
Jamesriotrawrbellion 2 years ago
Some are worth the money.
GKR is a laughing stock in the MA world.
GKR is not, particularly when taught by spotty 16 y/o's who know nothing.
osummuso 2 years ago 4
Errm have you ever trained in gkr? i doubt it, you wouldn't have this view if you had. Tell me, what style(s) do you train in?
and i'm only a sempai but still im more than capable of teaching, it's not the age, its about whats around the waist, the belt, the experience and the knowledge i have to pass on. And i have no spots.
Jamesriotrawrbellion 2 years ago
I know better than to train in GKR (if you can call it training) which is where we differ.
It's about what's around the waist?
Excuse me while I Bwahahaha at you.
You have nothing to pass on except ignorance.
osummuso 2 years ago 3
Plenty of spotty 16 year olds are acomplished martial artists so pleaase do not generalise!
Geordie794 2 years ago
That's depend on your definition of accomplished?
Do forms, splits, twirl sticks?
Shaddap!
osummuso 2 years ago
not @ all. just because youve trained for a long time doesn't meen ur any good!!
Myself have 20 years Ma training I was with GKR for 6 Months. it wasnt 4 me but that doesnt man its not for every1, why not shut up n let ppl decide for themselves?
Geordie794 2 years ago
After you.
I've trained longer and going by your ignorant comments....smarter!
osummuso 2 years ago
again i state the point that just because you have trained longer doesnt mean a thing, you are the ignorant 1! are you jelous because the bloke has made more money than you ever will?? say what you want about me I dnt care, you dont know what i have achieved and i dont care what you have. get a life and tell ppl what is good about your club not bad about others and they will make up there own mind!!!!!!
Geordie794 2 years ago
No.
I'm not jealous.
I value ability and knowledge, not money.
Sullivan has neither.
Suggest you learn how to use google, then you'll find your ideal "grab my wrist and make my day" Aikido club.
osummuso 2 years ago 3
as I thought your full of it!!!
you clearly know a lot less about ma Than you would have people believe!!
bottom line you have nothing better to do, Last reply am gunna be making. The fact that you are very vague about what you have done yet claim to know it all and slag off anything you don't understand is actually funny!!!!!!!!!!
Geordie794 2 years ago
Wehey!!
Toys all thrown out the pram and one of Sullivan's pet Grotty-ka has left the building.
Enjoy playing limp-wrist Aikido you never-was.
I've made no claims for myself, but your ego is burning a hole through your Matalan budget GI.
Everyone understands what GKR is, except the dumb schmucko's that sign up for it.
So why are YOU defending it you donkey's penis???
osummuso 2 years ago 2

Geordie794 2 years ago
listen,i really do respect you for yours and everyone else's opinions on GKR,but at the end of the day,it is my choice.
any other styles of karate or martial arts i certainly will try, since my mind is not yet fully focussed on GKR,but martial arts itself. i am up to try anything these days:)
musicalkaratekid 2 years ago
gkr is not a style of karate, its bits of shotokan and bits of goju ryu cobbled together very badly, you dont seem to have the knowledge about this art to know you are being taken for a ride.I hope you realise before you waste to much of your time and money.
hssp900 2 years ago
Lost the plot-making up your own kata.
I hear that he cant come out with any compative uses for it.
The13hands 2 years ago
wow, i am ashamed of all of you.
because if youse truely studied karate you would all know that all karate has a similar style and that no! style is superior or better than another, karate isnt about winning its about inner journey and self discovery of yourself. i myself study under GKR karate and im ashamed of all GKR student in here who are disrespecting other styles, and westBfella,if you are so confident in your style the enter a NAS tournament and test your style and yourself.
tonnyk666 2 years ago
If NAS was in my country then I would be over like a shot - but I can't justify the cost. I would like to add that I have defended GKR on many occasions- I'm all for karate and I'm not for disrespect. If GKR students want to tell me how great they are and how great NAS is-ok. But I exist in a the real world not a self contained bubble. If any GKR want to train with me - you are MORE than welcome.
I like many train with karate-ka who are not part of my association it is what makes me better...
WestBfella 2 years ago
....and you are 100% right karate is about an inner journey - which is why I train every day with ANYONE I can to improve.
WestBfella 2 years ago
im a GKR student and i have never disresepcted any style, never will.i love martial arts itself-when i get the chance i will try each one out.you never know,i may be a going to kickboxing or kung-fu every week.you have to take these chances.thats what i think for myself.
musicalkaratekid 2 years ago
But I will answer you question:
'but why do we win so much at nas?'
WestBfella 2 years ago
......so the question becomes not 'why do the GKR do so well as NAS?' rather why does the GKR do so badly at everything else!
WestBfella 2 years ago
Ok, I would like to respond.
Thankyou for taking the time to respond.
WestBfella 2 years ago
.....but it is behaviour like this from cohai that show GKR to have lousy attitudes.
WestBfella 2 years ago
so gkr haters, why do gkr do so well in nas?
billysharp15 2 years ago
What a silly post is like me saying.....
So GKR lovers, why do you not enter karate competitions of any real merit?
If any UK GKR club would like to arrange with me a competition between your club and mine (I've got beginners through to 3rd Dans) - send me an email - I promise to post the videos on You Tube (if you wish).
WestBfella 2 years ago
we have begginers through to 5th dans throughout the whole body..but why do we win so much at nas? i no our style is..different..but i have been training 2 years and will still train even if it is the worst club in the world. i only train cause were such a friendly club and have made friends though there.thats at what matters to me so screw you
billysharp15 2 years ago
..My cousin could play only 2 chords on a guitar which inspired me to pick up the instrument - obviously I wouldn't want him to be my music teacher with only a small knowledge in music but 10 years later thats what I do for a living.
GKR have a small knowledge of karate-do but it allows people to get inspired about what we all love - how many of them end up at our dojos? And ultimately how many of them WILL end up at our dojos. Let them be and they will find us. Good training everyone. osu
WestBfella 2 years ago
haha let the GKR lot get on with it. There's no harm in what there doing - keeps kids off the street.
If you think in your heart or soul you are doing the right thing then how can you change that opinion?
I'm staying away from GKR and maybe some of you will realise the error of their ways, if not so what? There's more serious cults, neh?......
WestBfella 2 years ago
you will get low standard's when you let junior grades teach wearing a black belt and never having taken a dan grading!
why would any-one with any sense do this crap and pay money for it........
