  • Very nice. I was a crew chief in the 57th Fighter Weapons Wing, 64th Aggressor Squadron at Nellis AFB, NV in the early to mid-80's and these are the aircraft I got to work on every day. They flew the role of the Soviets(emulating the MIG-21 Fishbed) in DACT(Dis-Similar Air Combat Training) participating in Red Flag exercises against the best pilots in the U.S. military.

  • damn impressive

  • @TheSpielberger thanks for watching, more jet stuff uploaded soon from the recent jet rally

  • Is this a BlitzworksRC F-5E V2 pro model?

  • @falcon2160 No it's the old Hobby Lobby F5 from about 3 years ago

  • Very Nice Jet, Great Flight and Super Nice Landing, Take care and have fun, Chellie

  • FUCKEN EPIC LANDING..great job!

  • @aponz9 thanks for watching

  • Good vid but that wasnt a tiger sceme

  • @24242ME lol whatever dude, close enough

  • @24242ME The real aircraft is called the F-5E Tiger. It has nothing to do with a color scheme or paint job.

  • mucha prueba para meter las ruedas a dentro y esta medio video con las ruedas fuera xd

  • finally a video with a camera-man who can keep the plane inside the view..nice video ;D

  • @Highflyer86 thanks a lot, so much nicer when you can actually tell what plane it is, while it's flying. All my stuff has awesome HD now, and is some of the best filmed stuff on Youtube

  • Nice vid man, good tune.

  • @saltykrug thanks dude, more great stuff on the channel in HD

  • Great video and plane.. I saw one of these in the local hobbyshop yesterday and considered buying it.. wanted to see it fly first on youtube - thanks for posting this... I buy the plane today..

  • @Trainboy64 right on, that's great. Have good flights

  • nice any problems with it?

  • @justfly60482 only the gear is a little poor. The main gears work pretty good, but you have to make sure they lock down every time, with travel adjust on th eradio, or on landing they make collapse, and the nose gear, never seems to lock straight. You can put a file mark on the rod, so maybe it stays solid, but other than that, plane flies great. Really like it's on rails, just make sure the thing is a little nose heavy, not right on the CG

  • Nice :D

  • @vietmini thanks, great jet

  • so you are actually flying on the stock 2350kv motor right?

  • @pavcon can't say the KV for sure, but it's the stock one. 70mm don't need super huge rpm but I'd think it was higher than that 2800 or something, not sure

  • @warderseeker the stock is a 2350kv .. I'm sure about that.. i'm installing a 3600kv fury fan in this thing and I will post a video.. the Fury fan should come in about 3 days while the plane I guestimate that will be here in 10.. only one critical question that... Can you tell me the overall FLYING weight?

  • OMG i was trying to understand when the plane touches down and couldn't find!!!!

    So peeeeeerfect landing 5*

  • @maestrosVIP thanks, ya landed well even with the tail heavy issue. Watch some of the newest stuff, all in HD, and some great clips

  • holy sh%^! thats pretty fast and also a perfect landing.

  • @jesknow thanks , check out the video response or one of the turbine jet videos on my channel. All the new stuff is in SuperHD

  • skulle ønske jeg fløy så bra!!

  • @TheUllhue takk alot, masse praksis

  • Just ordered mine! You guys sure have a beautiful place to fly in.

  • @ubermarklar Right on, thanks, great field, good guys out there too. Got a larger field where I fly the turbine. new speed test video of that up now

  • omfg its so small, easy to fly???

  • Harder to fly than a real plane, perspective is so different. These ones are small foam for training, then if you're into it, get a 20lb turbine trainer like the bobcat or Reaction, then on to Scale Jets like an F15 with 40lbs of turbine thrust

  • oh thanks for the info, i have one huge plane. it needs to be fixed first its 3 meter wide lol

  • What happened, what do you need to fix? That's pretty big, probably a handful unless you've flown smaller stuff to train first

  • Hey thanks for posting so many great vids-- just curious at the very beginning you have the F5E upside down on a yellow and blue stand-- did you make that or buy it? If so what is the brand and where, thanks!

  • @inthetubedeep thanks a lot for watching, the stand is called an "Earnst Ultra Stand" Found it online and your local hobby shop may be able to bring em in. very cheap 15bucks

  • Thanks mate and Happy New Year....

  • you too, and check the video response, an upgraded F5 that I got off RCU. Guy did a great tiger scheme on it too

  • what a landing! very nice

  • thanks a lot, tough tail heavy. Plane flew like it was on rails with a little nose weight afterwards

  • Beautiful

  • Thanksa lot, much better vid of it just posted lately.. I put it up as a video response

  • Nice landing for a handfull of jet! a bit of expo on the elevator will do alot of good. I like flying my planes a bit on the tail heavy side with alot of expo in the elevator.

  • Maybe right on the CG, but tail heavy is just asking for problems. Get in a nose up altitude with bad wind and half dead battery, and it's going in. Always have at least 30% expo on most surfaces for sure.

    Thanks for watching

  • What do you guys mean by expo?

  • exponential is an option in computerized radios, usually 5 or 6 channels and up. It lets you soften the stick input closer to the center, and still get full throws when the stick is pushed to the furthest outside . Lets you make smaller adjustments, than your fingers are able to manually. Used in helis, and jets a lot, especially when you're going very fast, and only a little elevator is needed, like driving a car high speed, small wheel movement gets you large turn

  • check out the new video response of it just posted. Much better HD, paint job, upgrades and awesome nose up landing

  • I don't think it's that underpowred. You can always Fit a bigger EDF??

  • Nah, not underpowered, flies great. Bigger fan would be little problem, next size is a 90mm I think, but higher efficiency fan if you think you need it, and high KV motor, or make it work with a 5cell lol

  • Too bad the sucker is so underpowered. We use it as our FPV camera ship.

  • strange to put more weight on it, if it's underpowered? Maybe not the fastest edf out there, but all EDFs can use more power lol

I use a multiplex mentor for my camera ship, very stable slow, and will be putting pan and tilt onto it as well. FPV too

  • nice vid!!

  • Thanks a lot, Mr Benjimundo

  • Hey warderseeker, is it suitable for the beginner to fly these edf jets?

  • Not many EDFs would be good for beginners. If you really want to get into them, get a Parkzone Stryker, and fly that for a while, it will help in learning to fly them. Some people could pick it up starting with one, but it's hard and you'll have repairs to do

  • dude how mutch did that plane cost maybe i get one

  • think hobby lobby has them on sale right now, 200 or something

  • nice nice

  • Thanks Jakes, nice videos too

  • whats the song?

  • Lenny Kravitz, Fly Away

  • Is this from Vektron?

  • Don't think so, but the box said Hobby Lobby on it. Bought from them online, but there was no other indication which actual factory or company built it.

  • thx

  • Thanks, ya I know what you mean about lists being too long, have a wish list, and some when they come off that list, go to the , "to be built yet" list lol Thanks for watching

  • Nice. I got mine and I have had it for over little of 1 year. I havnt flown it becuase I have never flown a jet before. I got it for my 16th birthday and it is only put together. This is my first jet. The rest of the airplanes i have are propeller. I have been practicing on realflight for a while so i can be ready when I decide to maiden it. I am going to Maiden it this weekend. Do you have any advice since this is my first jet?

  • Hey dude, good luck with it. Make sure you have the CG so that the nose drops a little bit, and that's while the gear are up and also when they're down. it can make a big difference, never make it tail heavy. Also put some exponential into the elevator and ailerons, about 35-40%, makes the controls not as sensitive. Take all your corners with lots of speed and not too sharp. Always stay 3 mistakes high lol, do a range check before you fly it the first time... that covers most of em hahah

  • still one of my favorite planes to fly! Thanks man!Do you still have the sr71?

  • Yep still have it, just picked up a F9F, video of it is up today, 4 cell , retracts, gear doors and flaps

  • Were can i find one of these, and how much does it cost because i want on with a radio and not the dx6i

  • Hobby Lobby has these online, but come without any radio, just servos motor esc fan. Around 270US...I wouldn't buy a DX6i either, get at least a DX7 or if you are really into it, a JR9303, I have them both, one for parkflyers, one for bigger stuff, jets and helis

  • I was really not wanting to spend 400US+ on this, but i am trying to find on with a radio.

  • This particular model, you wont find one that comes with a radio, and if it did, it's be 72mhz crappy generic radio, and I would throw it out. 6i would be better than any radio it came with, even with it's problems. Only other way is if someone is selling a used one privately with a radio

  • Oh that works, I I am on a 300$ budget right know an in a little bit i am going to get a 6i but right now its just out my reach.

  • Great landing! at first I thought you were leaving the gear down for the reasons real test pilots leave the gear down during a planes maiden flight in case of emergency they can touch down quickly without worry of gear failure.

  • Thanks a lot, just the plane was off balance enough, that I didn't think about the gear. Pre-occupied lol. Check out my latest video, it's a turbine powered plane doing some great speed runs and straight up climbouts, just click on my name to go to the main page.

  • nice flight with the F5. I just got mine in any special tips for me before my maiden flight.

  • Thanks a lot, make sure the CG is a bit nose heavy always, when the gear is up AND down, and use some expo if your radio has it, smooth out the agile nature of this thing

  • Loved your vid.. I am making the sr71 and want to add the edf's to it..

  • Won't take off on grass that is long at all. Would have to be very smooth, tons of power for it, but small wheels make grass take-offs harder. Top speed is probably around 80mph. Haven't clocked it or anything but fast enough

  • hey first of all great video and nice landing, second of all where did you get it? how much and whats in the box?

    thx

  • Hey Chris, Hobby-Lobby sells the plane for about 280 plus shipping, and I've seen it on ebay as well. Comes with battery and everytyhing else installed, but you need a radio and receiver to put in it.

Call receiver ready version. Don't think they sell one with a radio but I would not use any cheap rtf radios that come with planes anyways, usually crap

    Thanks for watching

    Ronin

  • when you say 280! is that us dollars or pounds??? because i'm from switzerland!!!

  • That'd be US. google hobby lobby, or go to ebay and search F5

  • thx done it.. how does it take of on grass!? because we only have grass fields :S

  • what kind of motor you use? standard or tuning?

  • What is a tuning motor, do you mean brushless?

  • yeah

  • yeah, brushless, a brushed motor would not get this off the ground. If you have any "brushed/untimed motors" throw them out and buy brushless ones to replace them

  • Thanx so much for your quick response. As for the set-up, you answered me exactly--I just asked how it is outfitted in your video. Sounds perfect for me--glad it's stock as I'm low on funds. I will use my beloved 9303--you use that too I see. I hope HL still has them. Do I have to get it there, or will I find it for a better price somewhere else?? And where will I find the video you say you will send? I always get lost trying to find things here. =) Thanx so much for your help! Lou

  • Hi, really enjoyed your video. Easily the best on the SM F5-E. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind telling me just a few things. Is this video of the jet totally stock, as it comes from Hobby-Lobby? Now that you've flown it for some time, what would you recommend as the perfect set-up? I have plenty of jet-time, but because of the present economic trouble, I'd like to buy the jet and not have to upgrade. Will it be a fun jet straight outa the box?? Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • Thanks a lot, the jet was right out of the box, but my own radio. I actually finished working on it at the field. The perfect setup, did you mean throws for the surfaces or changing motor and esc? Really there is no real need to upgrade this jet, it's more than fast enough, probably 80mph or more in a dive, and turns on a dime, powers out of stalls and high alpha, and doens't rock too bad in it either. I'll send another vid with it to you, has some more better flights with it. Ronin

  • Great vid; next time no music please.

  • Thanks, but sorry all my stuff has music. Just like at events, competitions, etc. When it makes a difference to hear the engines like RC jets and nice gas and four stroke engines, I make sure the soundtrack isn't too loud EDF's not as big a deal.

  • AWSOME got mine a week ago scared to fly it retracts up and down great turn on ground gear calapses just dont lock worth crap can you help great flying hope mine flys great thanks rotorwash46

  • Did you have to put your own radio into it? If they don't lock it's because the servo is not turning enough to pull the rod all the way. The servo gears will strip if it's not locking. On your radio set the travel adjust so they move a little more, till the retracts actually lock. The nose gear is shit and moves all over the place in steering but they should lock ok

  • looks realy nice i was thinking of getting one of these whats the flight time?

  • Probably between 5 and 8 minutes with some throttle management, but only a 2200, so easily put a 3000 or something for a couple more minutes. It'll take the extra weight

  • hey ward,

just wondering. you said the F-35 is underpowered. Is that the bananahobby one or the starmax one? bananahobby one is a little smaller, and they advertise it as 95+ mph.

I'm really torn between the f-5 tiger and the f-35. the latter is just so tasty looking :)

  • Ya seeing that about the bananahobby one, I would have thought the Starmax would be good, but not so much. BH one is probably the better deal for sure. I think that one is the Exceed F35, there is tons of vid on tube about it too. F5 is more nostalgic, and I think looks better flying with the desert camo. You could paint the Exceed one too.

I really want a Jet with a Tiger Meet scheme paint job..haha

  • ah, i see. starmax is bigger and better looking imo.

but in the end, i think an edf with retracts wins over all else. fixed gear really sticks out like sore thumbs, and i don't hand launches and belly landings. plus, the tiger is bigger...and bigger is better in my book :)

    thanks for the feedback.

  • What's the site for this? And does it have rudder controll? Thanks.

  • Hobby Lobby, and yes it has a rudder. Thanks for watching

  • nice plane, i think i might get one who's the kit maker? how come you never retracted the landing gear?

    thkans

  • Starmax is the maker, got it from Hobby Lobby. It was still a bit tail heavy so was more concerned with flying it, than playing with the gear, but actually when I did put the gear up, it's balance was better. Called the CofG

  • why was it tail heavy?

  • because not all planes when built will balance properly, and even the CofG that the manufacturer tells you, is not always correct.

  • so how'd you fix that? did you add weight to the nose or remove something from the tail?

  • added weight to the nose, actually also used a heavier, higher C battery

  • did that hurt the power/thrust?

  • no it was only a few grams, and the Higher C battery has more power to it

  • from the video it kinda sounds like a real airplane, but i couldn't hear it clearly from the music.

how do you like it? would you reccomend it for a first time jetter?

and did it have trim controls?

  • wow you're just full of questions. I like it quite a bit, but the nose gear is not very good, and either is the servo for it, it has to be replaced with a metal gear servo. Not really a first time edf plane but not many are. Try a Stryker first, learn what a plane that gets thrust out the back flies like. After that the Great planes L39 is a great cheap ducted fan plane, but requires a hand launch.. oh and the plane didn't come with a radio, i wouldn't use it anyways, any arf radio really

  • well it's hard to come by good information on the internet so if/when i get the chance, i just nail someone with a lot of questions.

why wouldn't you use the arf radio? what do you use instead?

and for rc jets how do you feel about nimh vs lipo batteries.

    btw, thanks for

  • no worries. most arf radios are too glitchy, no expo, no programming. 2.4ghz radios are almost bulletproof I have a DX7 and JR9303 for bigger stuff

nimh batteries are not really anything that should be used in jet, not enough power. Lipos are good, but need a good charger for them, and make sure you don't drain them too much. Forums have a lot of good info on specific stuff, and also a lot of general info too. You can search a brand plane, or just get stats on which batteries are better 2

  • well hey thanks, ill be sure to come back if i have anymore questions!

  • Hi, decided to persuade my dad to get me one for xmas:) Have read through every single thread on every single forum and they are saying that 700mm is a much better C of G. Less stable in high alpha, but a bit less exciting, in a good way;) Try that, i'll stick to 700 for the first flights of mine, just to be safe, as many have had their's gone in on the maiden at 720mm, also i expect you have seen the maiden flight crash vids on youtube due to an aft cg.

    Hope this helps!

    Sheldon

  • Thanks Sheldon, biggest problem was the gear, make sure you balance it with the gear down as well as up, and make sure both ways, you get a good balance, or slightly nose heavy. It wasn't unflyable the first flight, just had to be careful. Watch out for the nose gear on it too, the retract servo for the nose wheel is not as strong as it should be, and usually strips gears almost instantly. Be looking forward to seeing some vid from you. Post a reponse!

  • btw, what software did you use to make the vid? I'd like to make one for my VQ P40

  • I use Sony Vegas 8 but windows movie maker, comes with windows works fine at first. Use it for a while, does text and stuff.

  • i was all set on the starmax f-35 (its real pretty). but the bigger size and retracts on this won my heart. is the stock setup powerful enough?

nice track choice for the vid :D

  • Thanks a lot, ya the stock setup is fine. The Starmax F35, I have it, not really that great a plane, looks cool for but that's about it, very underpowered.

  • ah, thanx for the tip. its real good looking, but i didn't think the 3C 1300 mAh and 25A esc would be fast.

also, its too small and light. 5 mph winds will ground it.

that's it, im getting the f5 camo :D. Will go well with my DX7, will mix in flaperons. Gotta wait tho, its out of stock...and I got 2 other planes waiting to fly.

  • Don't even worry about flaperons, it lands so easy, and very slow, almost high alpha

  • ok cool, so then I can get the cheaper 6 channel receiver :)

  • hey i was just wondering what you used for the retracts. Im wanting to put some on the starmax f-18 i dont know what to use

  • This one came with retracts, but you can buy mechanical retracts that work on 1 servo each, for smaller foam planes. They are usually a lot of extra weight though, so only for larger ones, and also with that many servos you may need an extra BEC to supply enough power to move all those servos, or burn out your regular esc. E-flite might have some you can buy

  • alright! thanks!

  • I just got mine. mine didnt come with the transmitter or charger. i am only 16. is it hard to fly?

  • It's not a beginner plane for sure. If you've flown anything similar before not too bad, but if all you've flown is prop planes, it's a lot different. YOu need speed to have the controls do much, no speed, no control, and stall and crash. Make sure you have lots of speed in the corners, and check the CG with the gear down, AND up. Makes a big difference. Thanks for watching

  • Love flying my Swiss F5E. See it on YouTube!

  • Im planning on getting one of these and putting f18 v tails on it. Is this foam or fiberglass or plastic?

  • That would be cool, the F5 actually has a rudder servo which is nice on a foam ducted fan. It's a fairly dense white foam, pretty tough I guess.

Like to see it if you did it, post a vid, as a response, that'd be cool. Use some depron or something like that?

  • I dunno i considered it but dunno if its strong enough, I was thinkin balsam wood but we'll see. We were originally gonna work on a scratch build su 35 but decided to go with the f5, sturdy and easy to build air frame, possibly scratch build one with an extended fuselage, rudder servo means we dont need canards, dunno if it will get more lift if i put in a pair. Original design was a deepened airframe with delta wings and f4 intakes but its gonna be a hastle, ill put up a vid when i get it done

  • Nice one Ronin, was that the excitement of the new bird that made you forget to put retracts up lol?still a good flight and a great landing mate, the vid for sunday sounds good and look forward to seeing that raven heli,5*

  • You got it startazz, don't have many with retracts, but definitely flies much better with em up. Added weight now, so we'll see how it works. Tested the raven yesterday, and we'll get some vid today probably. Have a good weekend, not a long one for you I guess, or is there a corresponding holiday?

  • No mate we had our long weekend last week which was a bank holiday

  • You know where i can get a stronger engine for this badboy? Any recommendations?

  • You can get a lot of motors online, it would probably have to be over 4000kv to be fast than this one, and you might have to change the speed controller too. I'd put a five cell and check, the esc before changing out the battery. See how it works. Thanks for watching

  • Good video. I'm thinking of getting one of these camo ones as well as my Swiss F-5 is starting to look very beat up. :)

  • We want to get a couple or more up in the air doing some formation. One buddy I almost have convinced. Nice flying plane, second and third flights up this weekend, along with some other great planes. Subscribe to see the best RC vids on youtube ;-)

  • Oh yeah, I heard Ash in the vid again. Cool!

  • I was wondering why you were flying around with the wheels down when you tested the retracts before take off. Thanks Maxx, lol.. Good flight.

I have some video of my new stryker, but still sorting through my RC road trip videos right now. I clocked it at 74 mph and that is stock right out of the box. Loads of fun, thanks for posting the stryker vids.

    5 stars.

    Eric

  • Thanks Eric, maidens I seem to always forget the retracts. I have so few with em, and am focusing on the flying at fist lol

Strykers are such a riot, we'll have a few out today hopefully. Thanks for watching

  • wow im gonna get this one too its awsome!

  • Right on, I want one of the guys at my fields to get one so we can do some formation flying, like SuperDave. They would look So awesome in the air together

  • if he gets one post a video!!!!

  • Thanks man !Fly like an eagle:)

  • ya definitely and very touchy, where does the book say the cg is? I got mine from a shop with no book? That's is the only battery I have.

  • COG is just in front of the gear, I think it says 770mm, i have it in the truck, but pretty sure that's it 77cm or about 27' from the nose. I'm sure it will be a lot better with a bit more nose weight. I actually have a 25C 14.8v battery I'm going to try tomorrow if the weight is close enough. I'll check the book and let you know if it's different

  • I knew you would like that one, how long has your flight times been? I only get about 5 minutes on the stock battery.

  • That's about it, 5 minutes and it was quite low. I had a lot of full throttle, but maybe a 3000 pack would be ok it in, if the right size and weight. YOu have one? Did you find it porpoised a lot with the gear down? found it really tail heavy with the gear down, but much better when i retracted it.
