  • I love the pace of your work. The power of working with one self's rythm is underestimated, especially in manual labout.

I assume you don't have chronic back pains or burnout sysndrome?

  • Nice work man.. my whole family are bricklayers pretty much and one thing I've learned is pert near all masons are "the best" and all others are slow, sloppy, rolling blah blah blah... im a tender for the time being and just saying, quality over quantity any day! P.s all masons that talk smack about other masons should really think about your future.. one bricky can't build the world.. what Happend to teamwork and fun on the job, your all ruining the trade!

  • Fine Roman Architecture. Good job!

  • Very nice man. Nice to see time taken on jobs rather than the crash bang wollop i see daily on construction sites. Your right in saying that pricework has killed the trade. Qulity is becoming rare.

  • Hey Jamessnaggle,

Thank you for your comment, it is really good to hear someone with the same line of thinking and appreciation for good work.

  • A true artist at work! A man with great skills, remind me of myself when I was laying bricks. I truly miss building fancy stuff like eagles on the post office, fancy walkways, and fireplaces in Norther Virginia.

  • @maxkey3 The Durante family are some of the best bricklayers on the east coast. Dad was the fastest, my brother was the strongest and I was the smoothest: I was threatening by my dad many days if I don't speed up he would cut my pay. That never happened but my work was always neat, his was also neat but fast. He laid over a thousand bricks per day and he made our work even out to to two thousand daily regularly. My brother became fast & neat but not as neat am me yet he was also faster than me

  • From a tradesman to a tradesman get a smaller trowel.GOOD JOB.

  • Hey rob how do you work out the size of the voussoirs, they look muck better than wedged shape muck joints?

  • hahahah reminds me ov two bricklayers who built an egg in the middle ov kiddiminster hahahahahah

  • I'm a mason. That is great work. To watch you makes me proud. Carl from Calif.

  • born and raise in it love what i do just wish i had more of it

  • Day rate...yes, on detailed work price work is never good.

To be honest price work has killed brickwork, I can honestly say that I can count on one hand the bricklayers I've seen who do a good days work on a price. They are rare... very rare

  • @robsonger1 Hi Rob,I'm always amazed that people only talk about speed, the quality of the work is what matters.Your home is the biggest investment you'll ever make, you wouldn't accept a car with a sloppy finish on the bodywork would you?But you take only 8 minutes to do half a Bullseye perfectly, there for decades to come for people to admire it but all some people can say is how slow you are!Maybe its just me but the standard of Bricklayers is going down. You though should be proud of yourself.

  • @robsonger1 The only person who wins with pricework is the contractor. The quality of the work suffers for if the Bricklayer were to take the time required to do the job properly he would starve. There is no sense of pride at a job well done when you look at a job you were forced to rush through in order to make a living for yourself. Most tradesmen I know do a good days work on day rate, and the home buyer gets what they deserve for their hard earned cash.Quality NOT Quantity.

  • day rate

  • Hi heavy..

Please read my reply to a similar comment I had, 4 paragraphs down.

    I hope this explains

  • crazy how slow he is

  • Nice work..not a great fan of using my hands to manipulate the mortar though!!..lol..

  • Thank you for your comment monkey, I tell all my students 'the work you do will remain long after you die, so an extra 10mins here and there for something that will be seen for 200yrs or more is time well spent, always walk away from your work being proud of what you have done, as you will be remembered for the work you leave behind you, make sure it's for the right reasons'

  • @robsonger1 Sweet im actually looking into taking some SIAST course or program here in Canada for brick layer, im decent with math specially geometry and i have done stucco for a good two years so im not as fresh to some cements. Any advice on what to do prior to the classes?

  • @robsonger1 Amen

  • @robsonger1 yes sir spoken like a true mason, and i should know i am one lol

  • i dont think its a case of being on a good price.

not beeing funny but even if her is on the worst price there is he still needs to make it look good or theres no pay ?? the guy is quick clean and spot on its just some things tack the bit longer to get right

then when its finished its looks good

    i rest my case.

iv done bullseyes in the past and it do's need that attention to detail

  • your doing a really nice job mate,But you must be on a bloody good price to be that slow.
