  • So what did the frog eat if the flies left? And what bozo expects that a stream can remain frog-free?

  • At the end did the frog simply croak, or did he, {As in my opinion} croak, "Right!"

  • its daws butler not frank welker as the voice

  • I think Frank Welker is the voice of the narrator.

  • Great video. This teaches us sometimes the very people we turn away are the very same people we may find out we needed all along....

  • Well at least we know that he upgraded from hating frogs to not liking frogs.

  • I don't get why at the end they created the cartoon where he still didn't like frogs.

  • @MIKECNW It was probably just a way to end it on a joke. "I did not. I stii don't like frogs. But...ah...they're better than flies."

  • I bow in awe to The Great Dwas Butler. (God bless him!)

  • Permaculture!

  • This story has a good morale to it. It teaches that hate is not a good thing and it give a lesson in part of the enviorment; Shoo all the frogs away and you get a swarm of nasty flies. Kill all the cats and you get a house full of rats & mice.

  • What is this guy's problem with frogs? What is this supposed to teach kids?

  • Cute Frog!

  • Thanks Garrettk41 for the Daws Butler reference. Wasn't sure but when I was kid I was very suspicious of this guy sounding so much like Huckleberry Hound!

  • When I was little I recited this entire story to my Mom & Dad before bed. SO CUTE!

  • One of four Sesame Street cartoons with Daws Butler.

  • Like the 'Fisherman and Clam' cartoon, this fond memory illustrates that while one might not like something, it is necessary because it either: 1. prevents something even more unlikeable from appearing (this clip), or 2. allows for the desired object to be there as well (the 'fish' clip) Thanks for posting!

  • that's y u buy insecticide. I still hate frogs

  • that guy had a stick up his ass

  • I know this sounds strange but, I think that man looks a little bit like Shaggy from Scooby Doo.

  • That doesn't sound strange at all. The animation is reminiscent of Hanna-Barbara animation... his body looks a little like George Jetson. I'd be willing to be the animators were from the H-B group.

  • I believe it's Daws Butler doing his voice too. He was the voices of Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound.

  • You're right on that! Daws Butler's voice almost sounds like Reb Wolf character from the old Droopy cartoons from the late 1950's!

  • i love froggies!!!! there my fav!!!

  • Translation of the frog at the end: "A*****e..."

  • I had no idea Daws Butler worked on Sesame Street, that's fascinating.

  • "Ah did nawt! Ah still hate frogs! But their better'en flies!"

I loved this short as a little tyke. Cute little froggy too.

  • this is ok

  • Wow, that's Daws Butler doing the man's voice. Cool!

  • That man is so unkind

  • how rude! what did that froggy ever do to him?!

  • Mabel: Does the man hate Kermit too? Idiotic man.

  • I was thinking the same thing too.

  • That's right kids, the only thing Harry Manback hates more than flies is the vile stench of Communism they feed on.

    *sigh*

It sucks to be grown up and feel compelled to bring my jaded cynicism to bear on such innocent childhood memories.

  • You are so right. I do it myself, but there's a voice in my head that says every time, "You jerk..."

  • Replace "frogs" and "flies" with other words and become evil.

  • haha i remember this clip

    what a user!

  • Speaking of frogs. Anyone notice that the Bees are disappearing?

  • Yeah! Other than Bill Maher, no one seems to know about that!

  • @jude107 Have heard reports of frogs disappearing all around the world?

  • @jude107 What bees?

  • This teaches about the environment and how it can be easily imbalanced if one part of the equation goes missing!

  • Good point. The man lerned now not to take things out of the food chain.

  • A simple story..simply everything has its place in nature.

  • funny

  • "And a sleeping rat, while not ideal, is still better than a wide-awake rat!" - Phil Hartman

  • LMFAO! this made me laugh. all you dick heads that are taking it so seriously go suck on it:]

  • Pestilence! Served em right! Frog shouldnt have come back!

  • those are the best animation skills i've ever seen

  • frogs are rapidly disappearing from the earth..this is an ecological issue

  • If we loose them, we,ll be up to our necks in flies. Good thing zoos around the world are trying to breed frogs up.

  • This teaches us not to be prejudice

  • Not really, I think this teaches us to have slaves, because we obtain personal benefits from them. WRONG!!!

  • aahhhh What?!

  • i hate frenach people too

  • All I have to say is,... more Kermit vids!

  • man fuck those frogs

  • blogs? did he say blogs? HUH? oh vlogs? HUH? clogs? HUH?

  • I remember his accent :^)

  • So frogs are better than flypapers?

  • If he hates frogs, he sure picked the wrong show to be on!

  • What a dingbat...

  • awww..what a cutie froggie!

  • I still think about this clip every time I have to get the fly-swatter! I hate flies! This stuff has got to be preserved as art. None of the new stuff can touch these old segments.

  • Daws Butler is my hero. god bless his soul.

  • That's because it's Daws Buttler whos famous for being Huckleberry Hound. This is cute

  • really? thats a cool trivia. thanks

  • Why does that hillbilly sound like Huckleberry Hound? Oh, wait a minute Huckleberry is a hillbilly.

  • "And so the man learned to like frogs."

"I did not! I still don't like frogs, but...they're better than flies."

That alone is worth four stars

  • Perhaps this is her Prince Charming (see "The Electric Company: Frog Prince").

  • That's probably Don Messick as your friendly narrator-scooby doo, boo-boo, etc.

  • There have been two versions I know. There was one that did not show the man saying he still did not like frogs as this one shows. It stops just as the narrator says he lerned to like frogs. However although he says he still does not frogs in this one I still think he lerned to like frogs at the end because he says their better then flies.

  • The same thing happened in history. During the Middle Ages the French slaughtered their cats in a fit of religious mania. The rat population exploded, and there was an outbreak of plague. Some idiocy, huh?

  • The same thing happend when to many snakes were killed because people were scared of them. Because snakes control rats and mice they are now protected. Don,t judge a book by it,s cover.

  • yes, everything is made for a reason.

  • No wonder the man hated frogs.

  • When I was a kid, I found that final shot of the frog a tearjerker. Now, many years later, it still evokes that reaction in me!

  • And the Moral Is...

  • "Things are good when you get to know them better"

  • the voicw of the man was Daws Butler, Aka Yogi Bear.

  • "It ain't over till it's over."

  • This is one of my all time favorite stories.

  • He might also take a shower, and wash his clothes...

  • it is so weird watching this again

  • he even hates Kermit? :(

  • Hey. I jsut found out that this cartoon aired on episode 560. I was wondering if you have the whole episode 560. Because if you do, would you mind posting up the Trading Game? I've been dying to see that one.

  • Awww...that frog is so cute!

  • I hope it never comes here for anything. About the cane toads. They were brought into Australia by some dills(idiots)who wanted them to eat some pest cane beatles that were eating the suger cane. But the toads became a pest themselves.

  • We've got something like that in the American South: kudzu. It was brought over from China to help choke out pesky weeds or something, and it's went and took over everything. Ah hate kudzu! But it's...better'n cane toads.

  • Glad you think so.

  • I like frogs. It is cane toads that I hate. They do not belong in Australia where I live.

  • sorry about those cane toads, I saw the famous film on them and it's amazing. At least you don't have snakehead fish aka "frankenfish" ; )

  • @moatguy I'm surprised you or anyone for that matter hate toads & not frogs.

  • @Stephen10528 Well cane toads are pests in Australia that's why I hate them.

  • I remember this one. Thanks.

  • Ah hate frawgs!

  • but...uh...they're better than flies. :)

  • Frogs maybe but not cane toads. They are the most ugly pests in Australia.

  • More ugly than wild rabbits? (Also introduced from elsewhere).

  • This was my favorite sketch! rofl

  • ha ha- I remember this quite well- used to see it all the time. I like frogs- especially Kermit the Frog! :-) (hmm...makes me wonder how that would have played out if it was done live- like with Bob and Kermit or something...)

  • He sounds like Daws Butler.

  • It's definitely Daws doing the voice.

  • @Larynxa I really loved Daws Butler and his unique way of doing voices. I miss him and since his death cartoons have not been the same again.
