In season six Tina can't really make Bette jealous anymore. The producer said in an interview this last time time tibette got together they realized they are nothing without eachother. They are staying with eachother.
If I guess correctly, Tina's story that has never ended with Bette now starts with Kate, just like Bette with Jodie. Whether or not these 2 couples will last, we don't know for sure. But... If Annabella Sciora & Marlee Matlin could be back for Season 5, the show's gonna get so damn interesting (with Jenny getting mentally twisted again, haha!).
I'm guessing that the scene was deleted because they knew Annabella Sciorra wouldn't be back for S5. It would have been strange for Tina to start a relationship and not continue it, even if Kate did go back to NY.
Good thing too. Bette w/Jodie and Tina w/Kate would probably have been the kiss of death for Tibette ever getting back together. So long as one of them was free and thinking about the other, there was always hope.
this seems to be out of character for Tina during this season...
