  • Wonderful. So moving.

  • This is great - I alwys felt that this is a neglected song which the great singers failed to pick up - such a lovely song

  • Wonderful performance by Harret Hilliard Nelson. So much emotion in her voice and her performance. I loved the way they sang back then.

  • There's a marked difference between the performers of this era and later generations. Harriet is truly performing this song, pouring herself into it -- not just making sounds.

  • God this takes me back (and i feel all the better for it I tell you!!,................... Nurse the Screens.........!!) These are the sort of fine films I used to watch on a Sunday afternoon with my family in the 70's.........(it wasn't all Glam Rock y'know , but then the 70's did have everything) Thanks for posting this clip, its a cracker...x x

  • A wonderful singer and she enjoyed a nice film career before working only with her husband.

  • I do not have words to say how much this song makes me feel. Its amazing the voice of Harriet Hilliard. Love the movie! I love all those movies from the 20's, 30's and 40's. I always sing this song to any children i spend time with and they like it!

  • a marvelous song and a very wonderful interpretation....so poignant! love it. thanks.

  • THIS IS AS CLASSIC AS A DUSENBERG!

  • @RALPHIEREDRYDER Now that is a reference few would get!

  • How Harriet managed to sing this song all the way through without really bursting into tears is a sign of a GREAT actress. She conveys so much pathos and sorrow,

especially at the end; this surely must rank as one of the greatest performances of this genre of sentimental singing! Tell your friend to view it. Well done Harriet!!

  • sooooo touching and dreamy <3

  • It may not be the blues, but her songs in this movie are the saddest singing I have ever heard, and I don't mean that in a mean way. She seems to be on the verge of tears. I would not recommend this song for someone on acid.

  • "Get Thee Behind Me Satin" is one of the great film musical performances of all time. Harriet made a lot of films.

  • Moving...touching...memorable!

  • Sweet and vulnerable. Lovely!

  • She's cute in this film !

  • She did NOT suck at all; good voice; great looks; Ricky looks just like her. No movements, though. That makes the song lifeless; too bad. Thanks for posting. Never realized she could sing.

  • @yudikjon no movements just like ricky. they're a lot alike, both beautiful faces and vioces.

  • I don't think she sucked. I saw this movie years ago and I thought she did just fine. Incidently I liked her dress, perhaps with a little less glitter at the neckline. Nevertheless, quite beautiful.

  • She was gorgeous! She sings "Get The Behind me Satin" 'and it is wonderful. The talent is there, remember she's the mother of Ricky Nelson.....

  • Rude, stupid and poor spelled.

  • @Gaygarious it's my opinion

  • This is a great Irving Berlin song--the words and melody are brilliant! I had never heard it until I watched the movie. I have an original copy of this song on an Ampico player piano roll and it is an outstaniding arrangement on the Ampico piano.

  • I would Love to Hear Harriet sing "Roses in December"
