in certain context speed is fun to listen to, and in other contexts i enjoy listening to the emotion of a melodic solo. this is why i love petrucci: because he has the ability to do both. not just seperately, but together as well. you shouldnt be so close minded and make snap judgements about people you know nothing about except for one comment.

2. I said he looks bored playing this. Is that a bad thing? obviously not when it comes to the playing which is extremely hard. I never said anything bad about the actual music he prodruces with his instrument.

3. I cant play a solo like this, I'm a bassist *lol* . But Ill try a cover of this on my jazz bass... ;)

It is true he becomes a bit more static when soloing cuz hes got to be focused, Shreding with that velocity and coordination requires a lot of concentration. But when hes playing riffs and banging his head like hes playin some heavy metal shit, thats not motionless believe me
