I've met him a few times. No denying his talent, but when he drinks (this was before he married Mandy Moore), he could be one very mean person. Not a person who handles his alcohol well.
Ryan Adams churns out a lot of music. Most of it is good and about 20% of it is music which has no peer. I don't really know much about his personality, I just know he is a prolific song writer of immense talent and I hope he keeps doing this stuff for another 50 years. I'll keep listening.
For those of you giving props to guitarist/vocalist Neal Casals, and anyone else who wants to see/hear RA at his uplugged best in an intimate setting--playing with ultimate sideman, Casals, Google: ryan adams neal casals st james church, Ireland
everybody keeps railing on about how eccentric ryan adams is. yeah, he's probably a little off - most artsy people are. but, good grief, look at jim james... he's probably barely sane enough to be able to function in society. give mr. adams a break and just enjoy the music.
This song just hits me so hard even though i can't relate. you can just feel it. It makes me just think about people like kesha and the mainstream music today. it literally makes me sick.
Ive been waiting, for such a great clean live video of Ryan like this for 10 years.. ..its GOLD... luv this song...The whole bbc4 concert is amazing....watched the lot last nite with a 6 pack ,,inspiring performance.......supreme.....Ryan is the man.. and the Cards too....the pedal steel playing really hits the money , and neals guitar and back ups are awesome....
I never get tired of hearing this song... I can listen to it over and over. It actually gets better every time you listen to it! Brilliant songwriter....
Fav. Ryan Adams song "So Alive" "Two" "For no one" and "Come Pick me up" It started in 1999 and I saw this wicked CD cover "Rock and Roll. Been a fan since! However, not really feeling is Cardinal band, find their songs to be a bit twangy and country. Just like him as solo
it seems so sad now to watch any show with the Cardinals...this song is so sublime in it's purity and beauty with the best mf'n band ever did Ryan Adams EVER sound so good?
I've got every record of his I can get my hands on. From Whiskeytown's "Faithless Street" to "Cardinology"... this is one of my favorite songs, by him or anyone. I wish he could still make music, or wanted to keep making music, or whatever. I read that he has hearing problems, so I guess that's it. It was a great run though. The time I got to see him live in Atlanta remains a cherished concert memory.
Apparently Answering Bell was in the movie. I don't understand why this one wasn't. Seems a little more fitting, but I guess I need to see it to have a valid opinion.
Anyway, I love Ryan & The Cards, and I love this song.
i have alway thought- if he was slightly more commercially inclined (which im glad his not- some of his songs, like dear john, could have some great music vids
@macfae ...anyone who thinks he's annoying is probably an asshole anyway...fuck the undiscerning fools. In the words of 'his Bobness' - ''I can't teach you how to weed it out".
Damn, I'm finding all these comment replies that I didn't know I had. I'm now trying to respond back. Okay, back to this comment. Yeah, I know it's Ryan Adams, it says so at the top of the video. I have a friend Ryan and I call him Brian. And that has morphed into Brain. It's just a thing I think is funny.
wow wow wow. For such an ridiculously immature guy (i have to say he is exceptionally annoying in between songs live), he is consistently one of the most mature musicians I've ever heard. He makes you believe that he's singing that song from the head of a 60 year old widow. Much, much respect
I've met him a few times. No denying his talent, but when he drinks (this was before he married Mandy Moore), he could be one very mean person. Not a person who handles his alcohol well.

Ryan is a very polarizing person; you either find him to be irritating or you find his eccentricity wildly entertaining.
Either way he a genius when it comes to music.

and yes, I definitely find him "eccentricity wildly entertaining."
