The only complaint I have is that your guitar tone isn't working for the leads. It's really piercing (in a bad way) on those higher notes. Chuck some more mids and bass in there and cut the presence some and you'll have a much clearer, less painful lead tone.
@Destrukto184 I'll keep that in mind thanks! Just remember, sweeping is a glorified 'rake'. Practice raking groups of strings (dead notes,in both directions). It will help in the long run
How did you like PTH's new album? I think it's their best yet and they're still constantly evolving, and becoming better and better musicians with each new release.
thank you a lot for these videos! i don't technically need them (but i have learned some things) I am useing your videos to help teach my nephew because you can explain polyrythms/polymeters and most other thing A LOT better than I can! thank you keep playing bro!
I've got to say that the thing I really like about your playing is that it isn't the typical "I'm a douche bag and have to disguise my inadequacy by playing absurdly fast and technical". You actually approach it from a compositional perspective, which I don't fully understand because I'm self taught, like "I listen to the noise and find interesting patterns of harmony and dissonance that my western ear easily identifies". I can hear what you're doing and you do a great job conveying ideas.
@Jamsessionroom1337 I've played around with sweeping a little. It's really difficult for me to play them cleanly over more than like four strings. I like to create little 3-4 string patterns that aren't really all that musical, but sound interesting nonetheless. I have a loop station so i'll create little silly patterns and try to work around them.
@brnthchldrn Theory is really easy when you understand it on a basic level man! Learn the major scale, the major scale intervals, and the root notes on your fretboard.... the rest really flows from there
Thanks man! I've been playing around with 16th note tripplets and a few arpeggio combinations to enhance a song I've been working on for months and you just gave me some solid ideas on how to finally finish it.
Just like to drop a line and let you know you've really helped me come along as a guitar player. For some reason my playing feels tighter and cleaner than ever before, and changing time signatures is now a breeze... I don't know anyone else on the web that can really break it down like you can man. I haven't even watched this video yet, but I'm sure it won't disappoint.
How much did that schecter cost? Was it custom?
