we have one and you can't go more than a couple mph but it doesn't have to be stopped while the top is in motion. you've got to be stopped to activate the top, though, and then you can release the brake and move slowly. it's only about 20 seconds and it's tight engineering.

Mercedes absolutely ruined the look with the "new" SLK. The SLK 230 was a perfectly styled ride..Someone thinking it would look more 'aggressive' with the front grille full of holes. & what is up with the giant round hole with the monster emblem?? I almost expect to see some turbine blades moving around inside that 'hole'. This and the by now, tiresome looking fender flares...I hate the fender flares.... the flaring around each tire, every year these get bigger & bigger. Stop will ya!!!

@muratshawn well, you don't have a lot of experience with MB. Once the engine is above a certain amount cc all Mercedes are automatic. This used to be 3200 cc and i think now they put it down to lower numbers. In Germany automatic is not considered for retards, you retard.

That z4 is a pure sports car...i think its also better in handling,compared to the slk,the slks is an awesome stable car. I love the fact its a hardtop as well. enjoy ur z4

I love my SLK and the inside cabin is NOT plain. With the nav system and wood grain trim option,the interior looks hot. The one shown here is with the sport interior which comes standard (I believe) and yes that option does make the interior look a little plain and dated. I suppose that helps it to look more like a roadster or race car. But the interior on my SLK300 looks NOTHING like what's shown here.

SLK is a no brainer and well... better. It's two cars in one. Show me a TT or Z4 with a retractable HARD top. Then we'll talk comparisons. Z4 is lighter than the SLK with a softtop. 0-60 in Z4 3.0SI is 5.1sec. In any case the 09' Z4 is getting a hardtop but hardtops aren't everything....a miata has a hardtop.

1st of all...the SLK350 does come in a 6spd manual tranny, and i know this because i drove one! secondly, this car goes up against the Z4, not the 335. Beautiful addition of new front bumper, looks striking and aggressive over the previous one.

Yeah you're right it does come 6spd manual. He should have said that it's special order for the U.S. but you can get one. Most U.S. dealers don't order them I guess 'cause most people here don't drive them. I had to order mine and wait 10 months for it to get to the Alaska dealership.

I own a 2007 SLK-55 AMG its close to this car but 50 more horses and a little more sporter mercedes does lie on there numbers in there favor but if u buy a mercedes amg built car u can get much more out of hp because of its hand built engine which mercadies says 4.9 but you can get it down to 4.6 or 4.5 if u have 19" tires. And if u compare that to a audi TT the audi's looks and preformance gets left in the dust by the SLK

Fuel economy is not a worry or consideration for me. I only drive my SLK during the summer months and I certainly did not buy it because of gas mileage. Besides regardless to what one drives, it's gonna need fuel and even those cars listed as having excellent fuel economy are only as accurate as its driver. For me and my driving habits the SLK gets perfect gas mileage. So for you it's the Audi TT for me its the SLK it's about what makes each of us happy.

It has just as much trunk space or more than some of the 4 door compact cars on the road. But given that it's a roadster and not meant for hauling anything more than a picnic basket who needs more trunk space?

Mike Hanley doesn't know what he's talking about. The SLK350 with the 3.5l engine puts out 268hp not 300. Second the SLK goes up againsnt the BMW Z4 not the 335ci. The 335ci goes up against the CLK. You think someone like Mike would know this.
