Do I always have to use hashtags? I've had an account since April but only posted my first tweet yesterday. 8 of my 9 tweets contain hashtags. Do I always have to use them? Or can I use them for whatever I want to be grouped?
I don't get it. If there are several people at an event and are tweeting and everyone is creating a different hashtags, How can you find each other's tweets. For example. If you made a hashtag that says "Catalyst_09" someone else did "Catalyst09", another "Catalyst_city" or "Catalyst09city" etc. you could very well only have a small number of tweets that you are reading, am I correct?
@chizll Actually you DO get it. You got it 100% the only thing you forget is that hash tags are "open source"
There are no guidelines OTHER than the ones everyone agrees on. If me and you want to be sure to find each others stuff, we all agree to use the same tag. IF the organizers of an event create a tag for the event, they must get everyone attending to use the SAME tag. But there is not and really should NOT be any rules that if I make one, you cant. So it works out :-)
Way to explain a simple concept SIMPLY. i.e., when I Googled the hash tag concept, I came up with all kinds of technical jibberish that made me more confused. This gave the the facts in a straightforward way...thanks!
