  • after freni and a real great lyric/ dramatic in the opera house in Wuerzburg Germany, she's the 3rd best soprano I heard in this role. btw thanks for these contests

  • Both the Freni and Isokoski performances are the same productions from Paris 26 years apart. I saw this wonderful singer in Der Rosenkavalier at the ROH last year and she was fantastic. Such a great Straussian voice. Hopefully an Elsa to come?

  • you mite not belive this but she is my cousin if i would be lieing i would be stupid i hate to lie

    my name is aino isokoski

if you dount belive me its your fault please dount say anything bad about her

she is the onley fameos cosin i have

but my dad is a singer

but its not a big thing and i am religios so god curs me if i am lieing

  • Soile is so classy! But goodness gracious, why did they give her such a small mirror? It looks like a compact! Hahaha

Nevertheless, watched all of them with my Bose headphones. Depends on the sound quality, but I like this and (although generally can't stand her) Gheorghiu the best besides SCOTTO who was just stunningly beautiful in this beyond words!

  • Not bad, but would like more "amused" and less "bat shit crazy". ^_^

  • Is this 2001 production the same as the 1975 Mirella Freni one? Same city?

  • Very pure sounds!

  • What a hauntingly beautiful voice! And Soile Isokoski doesn't act half as bad as some think. Not everyone needs to be a poser. She certainly is not, but she is a good actress too. Most important for her is the music, something I really like.

  • What a beautiful voice! Also a good actress. 5/5

  • LOVELY!! Her high register is something to be jealous of :) 4.5/5

  • She looks like Madame Vera Galupe Borszkh!!! I think she really has a very lovely voice but she is always so boring in every role!!!

  • I like her, she has a nice voice :D

  • She's a cousin of my dad. :)

  • DG recorded a live Faust from the MET with Alagna, who is now a DG artist. Isokoski was the lovely soprano. Rene Pape was Mephisto and he stole the show. As far as I know it was taped for audio only. Levine conducted. Waiting for this release on CD! Then as now, she is impressive in this aria but lacks a real TRILL which is critical in the jewel song, not just a shake. It is in the score!

  • taitaa olla joku katkera urallaan epäonnistunut sopraano äänessä...

  • I here a little bit of schwarzkopf in her, but far more supported. not to bash schwarzkopf but she could be undersupported at times.

  • Her top is what is most impressive to me... no struggle at all, no matter how soft and delicate it has to be, effortless. Brava to her!

  • Very nice! very good french!

  • The singing is, in general, very good and so is the characterization. 4.5/5

  • Her French is very good, her voice is quite nice and her characterization is very interesting. 4/ 4.5

  • 4/4. She's very good.

  • She's brilliant and her french is surprisingly good. Viva Soile!

  • well how to explain this in English...

i find this very 'Baroque' as we say in French. The voice and the phrase are too light probably.

    but beautifull anyway.

    7/10

  • I agree. A very interesting voice and personality.

  • 4/5

  • Very nice indeed! What a dramatic take on this aria, I like it very much. 4.5/5

  • I'm so used to her being vocally glorious in Strauss and Mozart, I shouldn't be surprized she sounds absolutely gorgeous and creamy here, too! I like her unpretentious characterization -- I didn't realize she was such a natural stage actress. Extremely well done! 5/5
